TEL AVIV: Two Israelis have filed an over $120 million class-action lawsuit against Apple a week after the maker confirmed that it is deliberately slowing down older iPhones to avoid the devices from shutting down owing to old batteries.

The claimants said that the software updates impaired their ability to browse the web, check email and use various applications.

According to a report in Israeli newspaper Haaretz late on Monday, the suit filed argued that the company breached its basic duties toward users by failing to disclose that 'innocent' software updates would negatively impact their phone use.

"There is no doubt that information about the device slowing is important, and cardinal, and users had the right to get (that information) from Apple before deciding whether to install the software updates," the lawsuit was cited as saying.
On Friday, Apple faced two class-action lawsuits from the iPhone users in the US.
Sulaiman Law Group, Ltd, which operates as Atlas Consumer Law, was representing several plaintiffs in a class-action complaint against Apple in Illinois. A report in Quartz said that a second lawsuit was filed in California.

People who owned iPhone 6, 6s, and 6s Plus devices have been complaining that their devices shut down spontaneously even though they had sufficient battery.
Apple acknowledged the bug and introduced a fix in an update to its operating system software, iOS 10.2.1, which the company said would largely remedy the issue.

Apple claimed that it introduced the software updates that slowed the phones to make aging batteries last longer.
However, Atlas Consumer Law said that the iOS updates, plaintiffs claim, were engineered with this very purpose in mind -- fraudulently forcing iPhone owners to purchase the latest model offered by Apple.

“I have lost loved ones to HIV – that’s what inspired me to do this,” she told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by phone from the capital, Kinshasa. “The message that I hope people will apply is to be prudent.”

The number of people living with HIV/AIDS and dying from related infections in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been falling for more than a decade, according to the United Nations.

The prevalence rate of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is about 0.7 percent, among the lowest in southern and central Africa, UNAIDS data shows.
Luwungu, 40, displays her work in runway shows and exhibitions. When she finishes the condom collection, she plans to present it at a large fashion show next year.
The designs have shocked audiences but responses have been mostly positive, Luwungu said.

The popular adult film actress, August Ames, has passed away at the age of 23, her husband has confirmed.

The Canada-born actress died on Tuesday in Camarillo, California, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner.

Toxicology reports are being conducted and the official cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.

Ames’ husband, adult film director Kevin Moore, said in a statement: “She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.” Moore has asked for privacy in the wake of Ames’ death.

According to Hollywood Life, friends close to Ames have claimed that she had been battling depression, and that online bullying may have played a part in her death.

Ames received severe criticism on Twitter over the weekend after refusing to complete a scene with a man because he’d previously starred in G.ay P0rn, saying: “I do homework for my body”.

Fans and others slammed her for being homophobic, which she strenuously denied. Instead, Ames said that her comments were not meant to be malicious and she was just looking after her own health.



Ames’ final tweet, posted on Tuesday, simply said: “F.uck y’all”.

The 2017 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) took place on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos Nigeria.
Nigerian music acts for the fourth time in a row again dominate the West African class of the regional nomination categories of the All African Music Awards (AFRIMA).
Starboy, Wizkid smashed two categories; where He won the prestigious Artiste of the Year, and also Song of the Year. The likes of Tiwa Savage, Simi, Ycee and filmaker Adasa Cookey also went home with an award.
African stars from all over the continent graced the event which celebrated their achievements in music. Check below the full list of winners at Afrima 2017.

A prostitute in fear of being sent to prison pulled her client’s condom off his Pen!s and swallowed it whole to try and destroy the evidence.

The 48-year-old Vietnamese national named Dang was found guilty of perjury after misleading police following a crackdown on $ex workers.

She was jailed for two months for lying to a local court in Western Taiwan after claiming that she did not have $ex with her client, identified as Yao.

Identified only as Dang, she will not be punished for trying to destroy evidence because the condom was never found. Police raided the ‘health spa’ at 9pm on March 14 and found her in a room on the first floor.

Dang and Yao were questioned separately on prostitution charges and Dang denied any illegal activity.

However, her client admitted they were ‘halfway through’ having $ex when police smashed their way in through the front door and said that Dang quickly removed the condom.

Officers searched the room after finding a condom wrapper and later reported that she was constantly asking for water. She was taken to Jen-Ai Hospital in neighbouring Taichung City where scans revealed a ‘shadow’ in her chest, which police believed was the condom.
As a result, they were never able to formally charge Dang with destruction of evidence. Doctors at the facility said the woman – had she really swallowed the condom as suspected – risked having the rubber lodged in her upper respiratory tract or somewhere in her digestive system, which would require surgery to extract in the future. However, it could also be digested without obstruction.
The woman’s client and another massage parlour worker were also punished, but their sentences have not been revealed.
