Kwara South Is Bleeding: A Call for Immediate Security Intervention

Issued by the Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi Foundation
By Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi

It is with profound sorrow and righteous indignation that we mourn yet another horrific attack in our beloved Kwara South, this time in Agunji, earlier today. Just yesterday, it was Oke-Ode. Before that, Eruku, Oro-Ago, Osi, Isin, and countless other communities, all within the last 100 days.

We are devastated by the brutal and senseless killings that have turned our communities into graveyards. No fewer than fifteen lives have been lost in a single day, among them, courageous vigilantes who laid down their lives in defense of our people.

This is not just a tragedy.
This is a security collapse.
This is a governance failure.
This is a crisis that demands urgent and decisive action.

A Region Under Siege

Kwara South is under attack. Our people are being slaughtered. Entire communities are living in fear, abandoned and exposed. We are mourning fathers, brothers, neighbors, our own people, not strangers. This land is our home, and it is being overrun while those in power remain silent behind secure gates.

How many more must die before something is done?

How many mothers will bury their children?

How many homes must be thrown into mourning while government officials issue hollow condolences?

To the Bereaved, We Say: Your Pain Is Our Pain

To the families mourning unimaginable losses, we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences. But we must do more than mourn. We must act.

We must not let the deaths of our loved ones be in vain.
We must not let this darkness define our future.

Where Are Our Leaders?

Where are the people we elected to protect and speak for us?

Their silence is complicity.
Their inaction is betrayal.

If they cannot fulfill their constitutional duties to protect life and property, then they have no business holding public office.

Our Demands Are Clear

We call on the Kwara State Government, the Federal Government, and all relevant security agencies to immediately:

1. Deploy a proactive, well-coordinated security strategy across Kwara South.

2. Improve intelligence gathering and community-level security surveillance.

3. Equip, support, and protect local vigilante groups who are our first line of defense.

4. Arrest and prosecute known killers who continue to terrorize our people with impunity.

Our leaders know the perpetrators.
They know the forests and routes used.
They know the communities under threat.

And yet they watch.

This cannot continue.

We Call on the People: Stay United, Stay Resilient

We urge all citizens of Kwara South to remain vigilant, united, and resilient. We must not be silenced by fear. We must organize, speak out, and demand accountability, not just with words, but with collective will.

Let this be a turning point.
Let our pain become purpose.
Let our grief fuel unity and action.

Kwara South Deserves Better

We cannot continue to bleed and die while we claim to have a government. This is the time for real leadership, for bold decisions, and for an uncompromising commitment to protect every life.

May peace return to our land.
May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.
May Kwara South rise again, stronger, safer, and united.

Nairaland GeneralIt's Time To Arise- Dr. Philip Oyewale by emmanueloni12(op): 11:42am On Sep 07, 2023
It is Time to Arise - Rev. Philip Oyewale

Youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention have been urged to arise and those who have left the denomination to return.

Rev. Dr. Philip Oyewale made this call during a UPROAR session at the Arise Congress opening session held at the Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC), Lufuwape, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The minister who has been preaching the gospel for over 32 years expressed delight at the Arise Congress holding for the first time in the history of the denomination.

He said it was a long-term dream of ministers who were colleagues while growing up, that a time will come to rekindle the fire amongst the youths.

“Lots of our youths have gone, it looks as if we are losing but we are not losing. God said he allowed them to go because a time is coming and this is the time. What this programme is about, is to make all our children come back to their father like the prodigal son. Baptist has a heritage."

“While we were growing up, we were called "pentirascals" because we felt that our fathers then, had no fire. Now, we are the fathers and we are happy that something like this is happening”

He charged the youths to have an understanding that it is their appointed time and as well know the capacity of the God they serve.

“God created you for a purpose, it is time for you to affect your generation, it is time for you to fulfill God’s purpose. God made everything beautiful in his time, you can fast forward the hand of God, if you understand your season, you can make anything come if it seems to be delayed."

“For the fact that you are a member of your family, there are things that are not permitted to happen. When you understand that it is time, you will place a demand like the prodigal son, “give me my portion of the inheritance of your estate."

“If you don’t know the worth of your father, you can be called a bastard and that’s the saddest thing that can happen to a son,” he said.

Oyewale is the pastor, Pentecost Baptist Church, Liverpool, and the founder of Immaculate TV.
