Onboard1: Please note that your investment in stanbic MMF has nothing to do with stanbic ibtc bank. When you invest in stanbic MMF you indirectly invest in Tbills and commercial papers of reputable companies. You can only lose your investment if Nigeria government default in their obligations to investors in TBills. The probability is near zero. By the way, stanbic ibtc bank is not even the fund manager rather the fund is managed by stanbic asset management a different entity even though they in the same holdco with the bank. All the cash invested in MMF don't even pass through stanbic, SEC will not allow that. The custodian bank is UBA. 4 Likes |

adedayo77: It's same formula for simple interest and then prorated to daily interest. Using the capital stated, and with the assumption that rate was constant, no reinvestment, no top up or partial redemption for one year, here is your interest I= 7m*20.91*1/100 I = 1,463,700 this is what you get for 1yr. Daily you will have 1463700/365 4,010.14 is what you get daily. But if you pick the option to reinvest the accrued interest you will have more even if the rate remains constant. This is just estimate and with the assumptions already stated above. 1 Like |

Joyful365: @joyful365. First you need to know your risk tolerance and be sure you can cope with the risk involve in any investment product you wish to invest in. Note that Eurobond is not a low risk investment there is some element of risk though it's moderate, even dollar fund has eurobonds as the underlying asset. However, having a long term in view, dollar fund will be a good alternative. You can go with Norrenberger Asset management for the dollar fund. Get in touch for details on Norrenberger dollar fund. |

SimpleGuy001: Some reasons why I will Prefer MMF to Tbills You can start mmf with much lower amount compared to tbills. With 5,000 you can start investing in Stabbic mmf. The least for tbills is 100k. When rate increases, it will not affect already invested funds in tbills but it does with mmf You can't top up with tbills. Top up is very possible with mmf even if you want daily top up. Terminating before tenor expiration in tbills comes with penalties. For mmf after just 30 days, exit is without penalties. mmf has other instruments like commercial papers that contributes to its rate. You can easily automate reinvestment of interest in mmf ie taking advantage of the power of compound interest. It's the investor that determines mmf tenor hence you can hold mmf as long as you wish no restrictions, tbills particularly primary auction has fixed tenors 3 months, 6 months or 1 year. Right now mmf rates is on the rise. However, that is not to say Tbills is a bad investment. The one you pick MMF or TBills actually depends on the reason for investing among other factors which most times are peculiar to the investor. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

I know other climes may be better but I believe with time everything will be real time. Take a look at the method of subscription in the current primary activities of the banks you will believe me that there is some improvement. yMcy56: Exactly! We said it severally here, when it comes to bonus payment dates, it's not always stated like cash dividend because other protocols are involved before the crediting of investors' cscs account, all you should be concerned about is whether you are qualified or not. Once you are qualified, there is nothing to worry about you will see the declared bonus in your cscs account unannounced. 1 Like |

emmaodet: I think @emmaodet, the usage of the term direct settlement/payment is not correctly applied. For any investor that opts for direct payment of sales proceeds, it can't go through your trading account it's sent to CSCS who will credit you after 3 days of your stock sales. The fact that you didn't get your proceeds in your trading account, means you are currently on a direct settlement option. You will need to opt out of it by completing the form and indicating your desired option. Based on your first post, you explained the opposite of what you preferred. 2 Likes |

emmaodet: @emmaodet. This is what the mail you received means: Currently, you didn't indicate direct settlement of your sales proceeds, please note that direct settlement doesn't mean you will get the proceeds of your sales same day. it will still follow the T+3 settlement period. What it simply means is that CSCS Plc will be the one to credit your bank account on the 3rd day after sales ie the proceeds don't go through your trading account with the broker (investment one) The alternative given to you is the charge you will pay if you want your money before the stipulated settlement date, in this case, you are treated as a customer borrowing money from investment one. it's not robbery. Other firms also have their policy around that. Just like Pa Emma said in his response, you don't pay anything if you wait for the T+3 settlement period or wish to use the proceeds to buy another stock even on the same day of sale of stock. If you wish to opt for direct settlement, send a mail requesting the direct settlement form, complete it, and send it back to them, it will be processed and you will be getting your sales proceeds directly from cscs from now on. Note also that this option is unfavorable if you sometimes want to use your sales proceeds to buy more stocks immediately and remember cscs will still follow the T+3 settlement period before you get credited. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Ukayo: @Ukayo, Thanks for your feedback. Recurring debit is an arrangement you can make with your bank to invest a specified amount in your MMF account on a particular date. You can transfer funds from any of your bank accounts to your MMF account. Please note that your e-account is not a bank account as such, you can't transfer money directly into it. rather you transfer any amount you wish to invest at any given time into the UBA collection account sent to you when your MMF account was opened. You only make sure your e-account is used as the narration/description anytime you transfer money to the UBA account. |
