Religion / Re: Practical Reasons Why You Shouldn't Compare Yourself With others. by Emmyfit: 2:07am On May 07, 2022
Life is hard.

But when we compare ourselves with others we make it harder.

Every day, if there’s anyone you should be comparing yourself with is who you were yesterday.

Career / Re: Check Out These 10 Tips To Help You Have A Productive Day. by Emmyfit: 3:44am On Mar 28, 2022
Yes, ruthlessly employ the 80/20 rule:

decide you most important tasks, start with them and focus on them throughout the day.

Start with the hard task first usually the ones you tend to postpone.

Other tips include:

- Plan your day - the night before
- Create morning routines
- Block time for deep work
- Quit multitasking
- Regulate dopamine
- Aim to finish projects

Business / Re: How To Have A Productive Day by Emmyfit: 3:41am On Mar 28, 2022
Great tips.

The aim is not to be busy. The aim is to be Productive.

We are in a culture where people flex on how long they work and even “plan to work” rather than how much projects they had accomplished.

The less you know how to be productive – the more stressed and overwhelmed you become.

The key reminders to have a productive day include PLANNING most importantly.

- Plan your day - especially night before
- Create morning routines
- Minimize socials 1hr after waking/while working
- Apply 80/20 rule
- Block time
- Quit multitasking
- Regulate dopamine
- Aim to finish projects

I break down everything here:

Bonus point if you can afford to:
- Take a nap

Nairaland / General / Re: 26 Things To Remember If You Want To Be Truly Happy by Emmyfit: 7:17am On Sep 04, 2021
Happiness is a state of mind, not necessarily related to outcome. It’s not directly proportional to how much you earn, ability to spend or achievement in life; even though these things may play a part.

Regardless of your income or salary, you could make just enough to survive and still be happy. Largely because once you exceed your necessity, happiness may not increase with income.

You could also make all the money in the world and still be miserable.

If you’re caught in the “Happiness trap” or “pursuit of happiness” and need to break free;

Start here:

1) Cultivate gratitude daily: don’t chase happiness; instead of chasing happiness, which is fleeting – practice being peaceful and content.

2) Stop comparing yourself with others;

The only person you should compare yourself with is who you were yesterday.

3) Devote your life to pursuit of meaningful goals through Work and helping others

“Happiness cannot be pursued; it ensues as the result of living a life of meaning and purpose

You’re unhappy because you’re focusing on yourself

Tony Robbins is famous for this quote on happiness “suffering results from a focus on oneself.”

We are taught by so many self-help gurus to “love yourself,:” “choose yourself.”

Are these contradictory?
Suffering due to a focus on oneself is indirectly proportional to service.
You can love yourself and also get of your own way by focusing on helping others.

In fact, the best form of service is performed out of love you have for others.
