I have subbed 3 months on one of my Airtel ODU Sims at 67.5k. When you factor in 10% smartcash bonus, it comes down to a little over 20k for unlimited data, for one month. That's a bargain.

They convinced me with their current performance which has been sustained for over 2 months. I hope nothing untoward happens during the course of this sub. That would be unfortunate. If that doesn't happen, then I'd consider subbing for 6 months come December.

I would have asked you to tell me where I said 30K is too much but I know you know I didn't say that; but I understand your point.

If it was MTN I subbed for 3 months, that would have been 90k instead of approximately 60k. 30K is something and even more when compounded. I want them to compete on price as well.

Believe me I like peace of mind too. I have been at the forefront of complaints of Airtel ODU woes which made us tweak a lot of things to have semblance of stability we all craved

I even prepared for MTN ODU by getting their 5G mifi with 9000mAh battery because I'm always on the move. I also went to their HQ here but the manager insisted no external sims and no swaps, which testimonies here seemed to corroborate.

Now Airtel is giving me stability, which I hope they give to everyone else. And if they do and MTNN remains at 30k...

Then stay with Airtel.

Majority of us have more stability at 5k extra cost. It's worth it in our opinion

I have both device, you can't lock band on either of them. MTN completely disable that function for users

I did the MTNN 25GB freebie with one of my Hynetflex Sim cards. I inserted the sim inside unlocked X25pro and it's working. This means the ODU sim will probably work in the X25pro because MTN Hynetflex Sims don't work in other network routers.

Meanwhile, all the 4 MTN frequencies I can see here have bandwidths of 20. Only a few frequencies in band 7 and band 1 on Airtel have bandwidths of 20 and 15 respectively. The rest have 10.

The ping is still poorer than Airtel's here though. But those bandwidths must be something.

Both failed. Didn't work on MTN 5G mifi and MTN 5G Router

The cost of data subscription is very high. Why? No competitors.
If we had like 10 solid Internet service providers in Nigeria, do you think we will be buying data sub at this rate? There will be competition amongst themselves; the price will drop and quality of service will improve.
If you geh network issue, you go call mtn tire, them nor send you, they won't fix. They do this boldly because they're the best ISP in Nigeria, you have no where to run to.

How will this competition start? When foreign ISP come in to invest in Nigeria. But Federal Government policies is killing foreign investments. They're all leaving one by one.

See pharmaceuticals, foreign companies are closing down and leaving.

I bought the physical sim. All our set had problems. I was like the 9th person to make purchase in ph. We were up to 30 of us in total that got the physical sim with no activation.

After almost 2 months of calling CC and waiting to no avail, I decided to purchase a nairalander esim MTN ODU coz it wasn't fast in his place. He gets around 256kbs speed.

Not long after, the physical sim was fixed

His unit is the first type that came with physical sim. When Nigerians spammed that ODU sms to get free data, it was stopped.

When I went to their office, I saw a super huge stockpile of the ODU device in heap of cartons. All of them e sim.

They've stopped giving out the physical sim

I know say them go eventually make it easier to get external sim or swap esim for it. I'm not alone in wanting something portable when on the move.

I called their cc today. They said the physical sim version is 4G while 5G is esim. That's unusual because that's the first time I heard that ODU has 4G only model.

Confirm if yours is 4G only?

Both are 5G enabled.

I have both physical and esim; X17M and X17U respectively.

Downside is lack of configuration controls present on the airtel version like band and cell lock

I was calling cc steady. When I call cc, they'll take my imei and serial number to the support team to fix. Support team will close the case and say they've fixed whereas I'm unable to browse.

I got really frustrated when I got the wind of this.

I resorted going to their office physically and threatening them. I demanded for a refund immediately. I called the mtn agent that sold it to me and told him I brought their device back to take back my money. He was pleading and assured me it would be fixed. He requested that I remove the sim from the ODU device and insert in a small phone so when they perform a "sim purge" as he called it, it would take effect. He said he'll forward my number to their hq to perform the purging.

I held my peace but told them I'll be back for refund.

Gbam!!! Fixed.

After close to two months, MTN have activated my ODU physical sim

I have been calling customer but the service team always report that they have fixed it whereas it wasn't working for me.

I started calling and gingering the guy I bought if from for a refund. He sent my number to hq with others. Them don fix. Go physically to their office go threaten them

I would like to know if anyone swapped their esims and the external is working on routers like X25pro.

Mine came with an external sim out of the box

They activated it for me after registration. Same method that others have also posted here, by sending 5GODU to 312 via sms. If it doesn't work in the router, you could try swapping the sim to a physical sim and try it in a phone.

Mine came with a physical sim.
I have texted 5GODU to 312 using both the admin interface and a feature phone, none worked for me.
