Meet The World’s First Wireless Charging Laptop

Dell introduced the Latitude 7285, the first 2-in-1 laptop with wireless charging. This works similarly to some smartphones: simply you put it in contact with a special base, and it recharges the battery.
The power receiver is on the detachable keyboard, which uses WiTricity technology. It provides 30 watts via MRI and does not require accurate alignment on the charging base for easy use. The base, of course, needs a cable to connect to the outlet.

WiTricity has been demonstrating its wireless charging technology for about a decade, but it has not yet been widely adopted. Intel even partnered with the company, promising laptops that would dispense cables to charge the battery, but that never materialized – in fact, it shied away from the initiative as it focused more on the cloud and less on PCs.

Meanwhile, Dell kept the interest. It launched the first wireless charging laptop, Latitude Z, in 2009. And, since last year, the manufacturer has been demonstrating prototypes of laptops with WiTricity.

Now finally, Dell has a product ready for consumers, but it comes out expensive. The complete kit – including the Latitude 7285, keyboard and charging cradle – costs as low as $ 1,720. (Single tablet starts at $ 1,200.

The basic model has Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB SSD. (You can increase the RAM for up to 16 GB, and the SSD for up to 512 GB.) The 12.3-inch display has 2880 x 1920 resolution and 400-nits brightness.


There is an infrared camera for login without password through Windows Hello. We also have two Type-C USB ports, which can be used to charge the 34 Wh battery – yes, it comes with a traditional charger. The tablet weighs 680g; With the keyboard, are 1.36 kg.
Latitude 7285 is now available for purchase from the US via the Dell
website , however, there is still no information about a launch in India.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the 2017 JAMB Direct Entry Registration will commence from Sunday 23rd April, 2017.


JAMB Direct Entry is mainly for those that already possess a diploma certificate and wishes to go for a degree programme in the university. Normally, those who gained admission into the university via direct entry will start from part 2 or 200 level in their university of choice provided they were offered admission.

JAMB 2017 DE forms are currently on sale, interested and qualified individuals can now go ahead to obtain their form. All applicants must possess either of the diploma certificates listed below:

Cambridge A Level, B Sc, HND, ICAN, ND, NCE, OND, JUPEB and IJMB.

All the holders of the diploma certificates listed above would be admitted provided they pass the direct entry examination and possesses the institution requirements.


Read all the registration instructions and details at the JAMB de portal before filling the online form. If You have a good smart phone that can read PDF files, Try and download the Direct Entry Registration Template and fill before filling the form online.

Only submit recent passports of yours that is not older than 3 months and it must not exceed 15 Kilo Bytes (KB) in JPEG format.
Bonus tip: Make sure you know the minimum requirements of your University of choice. As of last year, so many DE
candidates wasted their money as they do not possess the minimum requirement of the institution they applied for.


JAMB DIRECT ENTRY REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS.

A minimum of five (5) GCE/WASCE credits at not more than two sittings with at least two Principal or Advanced level C.E. and the others.
Two passes at the IJMB Advanced Level Examination, Cambridge moderated Schools of Basic Studies Terminal Examination, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate from recognised institutions with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalent in three other subjects (SUBJECT TO UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS).

Passes in two major subjects in the NCE with S.C.E., NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in THREE other subjects (mainly for Education Courses) and ND. Education may be accepted as a third A’ Level subject for those taking courses in Education.
Minimum of lower credit grade in National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma including the O’Level requirements.
Candidates are to note that they will be required to provide their JAMB registration number which they used in gaining admission to NCE, Diploma etc for Direct Entry admission.

HOW TO APPLY FOR 2017 JAMB DIRECT ENTRY.

Registration fee for the 2017 Direct Entry is Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000) Candidates are also, as usual, to pay Five Hundred Naira (₦500) only to obtain the reading text- ‘‘The Last Days at Forcados High School’‘ for Direct Entry Candidates.

Candidates should note that e-PINS being purchased are tied to individual profile and are not transferable.

Candidates are advised to keep as confidential their security details such as registration numbers, password/numbers of ATM Cards, e-mail addresses and E-Pins.

Each candidate must personally create a JAMB profile on the JAMB portal through JAMB Mobile App available on Android, Windows and iOS platforms OR on the JAMB portal: www.jamb.org.ng. Name. date of birth, personal e-mail address and place of origin are required to create the profile.

Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB 2017: Three States With Highest Number Of Applicants Are Imo, Osun and Oyo States, Imo Has Highest Number Of UTME Candidates 2017.

The registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Is-haq Oloyede, has revealed that the exam body registered a total of 1, 736, 571 candidates for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).



Mr. Oloyede, who gave a breakdown detail of duly registered candidates for the UTME, said the number of registered candidates for the 2017 UTME rose by 464,287 compared with the 2016 figure of 1,272,284 candidates.

NHEF ESSAY COMPETITION – CRITERIA & SUBMISSION PROCEDURE.

All essays must comply with the following contest rules before submission:

• No literary form other than an essay will be accepted.
• Each piece of writing must reflect the contestant’s ability to explore and discuss ideas and ethical concepts.
• Essay must demonstrate the conduct of research and a sufficiently detailed summary.
• Essays must be 2000 words in length, double-spaced, (12pt Times New Roman), and numbered pages with one-inch margins excluding bibliography & title page.
• Each essay must include a Title Page, a Bibliography and a scanned copy of the contestant’s current student ID. The student’s registration ID# must appear at the header section of each page.
• Entries must be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
• References in the essay should be included and clearly identified.
• All entries must be submitted via e-mail to essay@thenhef.org by 11:59 p.m. (WAT) on May 15th , 2017.
