Its feels good to be back on Nairaland Forum!. I have listened and read several publications on how to become an entrepreneur and I must say it goes beyond having required resources and a desire to be one. Over the years and based on experiences (mine and others) have realized that it is a process that must be followed to achieve the desired result. The following must however be clear from the start: a. Not all can be business owners. b. There are different types and forms of entrepreneur c. There are different parties to a transaction that those with entrepreneural instincts can key into. d. Approach to business also differs from person to person. That said, the following processes are however key: 1) Discovery Stage: discover self and come to full realization of what you want in life, what you want to do or enjoy doing, carry out self appraisal - SWOT and most importantly align your personality, strengths, passion and desires to your choice of business or/and approach to business. 2) Diagnose Stage: carry out diagnosis of the decisions you have reached and potentials for commercialization, develop expertise and seek information, knowledge on your choices, match it with your personality and test the market. Discuss with people who know better and where applicable, get a mentor. 3) Design Stage: by answering the questions what?, why? how? who? where? when? and how much?, start the process of designing what you have in mind. The future (vision) you see and the means of achieving it (mission) is however key. Also, a business plan and feasibility study is also crucial as they will be provide more information into what you want to do and how you intend to execute the plan. Good understanding of the market and competition is paramount while you must surround yourself with the right team (people) that will help or assist you achieve your dreams and offer necessary followups and feedbacks to track variation and make necessary changes. BE FLEXIBLE! 4) Distribute Stage: implement your action. Get your product or service to the market through robust sales and marketing strategy, collect feedback and review continuously for devisiations and market changes. Be sensitive to customer changes, government pronouncements or policy changes. Most important factor to consider in YOU! Know what you want, enjoy what you do, be flexible, believe in yourself, without forgeting to ask for divine assistance. Good Luck Emoyol |
Giving the galloping level or rate of unemployment and the constant demand for at least 2 years experience by the few employers who still employ 1 or 2 staff, there seems to be no hope for the inexperienced applicants. The question then is should they continue to wait until the age barrier sets in? The answer is a definite no! The only option is to commercialise the tallents or skill endowed to individuals to generate income and create employment for others. Its better create whealth for yourself instead of creating wealth for others. Need help? Info@emoyolgroup.com |

Seeking professional advice means looking for those who have made success out of such ventures and understudy them for practical experience. Secondly, document your plan and create milestones that you can easily measure and work hard to stay on track! Most importantly, I'll advice that you should not resign yet. If your job permit, you can start on a small scale and work hard to grow. Once the business achieve stability then you can resign. You present employme provides the cushion being a start-up and no matter how small the pay, it covers your bills at the initial stage. However, if you can afford it get the service of a pro to do your business plan/feasibility study. Thanks |
Its good to have an exit plan early enough and the 3 ideas are very good. Any business that targets consumables is bound to succeed as long as you have what it takes. My question to you is that "which of the 3 do you have the most passion for"? Which of them best suites your personality? What kind of future are you trying to build? Do you have indepth knowledge of the 3 buisnesses? My advice is for you to answer these questions, determine your strength and weaknesses, etc. Articulate your thought and seek professional advice/input. Regards Mike 08077191158 |
