Good day everyone. I recently started learning UI/UX design, and instead of keeping everything to myself, I decided to document my learning journey on YouTube. The channel is not about “guru talk” or selling courses. I’m still learning, making mistakes, improving, and sharing what I understand as I go. Most of the videos are simple explanations, tools I’m learning (like Figma), and how I’m trying to grow in this field as a Nigerian. I know some people here are already designers or tech people, so I’ll really appreciate honest feedback, advice, or corrections where necessary. If you’re also learning UI/UX or thinking of entering tech, you might find the videos useful. 👉 You can check out the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAhJFSoiQ6k?si=0pmUSEaXaJkB4y9y If you find the content helpful, please subscribe and drop your feedback in the comments. It will really help me improve and stay consistent. Thanks for your time 🙏 |

Introduction to Pig Farrowing Crates Pig farrowing crates are an essential piece of pig equipment used in pig farming to provide a safe and controlled environment for sows and their piglets during the farrowing process. Farrowing, or the act of giving birth, is a critical time for both the mother pig (sow) and her piglets. The primary purpose of a pig farrowing crate is to protect the piglets from being accidentally crushed by the sow while ensuring the sow can lie down comfortably and nurse her young. These crates are designed to improve the survival rate of piglets and ensure the well-being of the sow. Features of Pig Farrowing Crates Durability and Strength: Pig farrowing crates are made from strong, durable materials such as galvanized steel to withstand the weight and activity of the sow. This ensures the crate remains stable and secure during the farrowing process. Adjustable Bars: The side bars of the pig farrowing crate are adjustable to accommodate sows of different sizes. This feature ensures that the sow can move slightly without risking the safety of the piglets. Non-Slip Flooring: The floor of the pig farrowing crate is typically made from non-slip materials to provide the sow with a stable footing. This reduces the risk of injury to the sow and her piglets. Easy Access for Farmers: Many pig farrowing crates are designed with easy-access gates or panels that allow farmers to assist with the farrowing process and care for the piglets without disturbing the sow. Heating Lamps: To ensure the piglets remain warm and comfortable, pig farrowing crates often include heating lamps or pads. Piglets are particularly vulnerable to cold, and maintaining an optimal temperature is crucial for their survival. All over print and electronic media, stories of abuse abound. This is a shameful reflection of the exponential increase in the decay of our society. It should not be seen or heard that members of our society are harassed, intimidated and hurt by others. However undesirable, this has now become our sad reality. Abuse as a concept has many variations and forms. One could suffer emotional abuse, physical abuse or sëxual abuse to name but a few. The most prominent of them all being sëxual abuse. It is not so because it is the most important. It is this way because it is the most rampant. Rape, sëxual assault and revenge porn distribution are some of its many forms. Like a hydra-headed monster, the more heads we cut off, the more heads grow. On a global scale, sëxual abuse is dangerously widespread. One out of four women has been sëxually abused or harassed. What this goes to show is that women get the short end of the stick most of the time. In Nigeria, sexual and gender-based violence committed against women and girls increased in 2020. This happened between March and May 2020, being the period in which national lockdown was imposed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. A recent report on living standard in Nigeria shows that 40 percent of the total population live below the poverty line of 137,430 naira ($381.75) per year. Also 27.1 percent are unemployed with the worst hit being the youth among whom over 13.9 million are either unemployed or underemployed. The number of people living below the poverty line rises on daily basis among this group. Poverty has with it many negative implications ranging from lack of income and malnutrition to limited access to education and other basic services. It leads to discrimination, exclusion and lack of say in the decisions that impact our lives. For a female youth in Nigeria it comes with even greater risk and challenges. Poverty has become a big threat to female youth development. It has led to social menace such as insecurity, crime, social deviances, addiction and other forms of vices across the country. A UNICEF report on Girl Child Education in Nigeria 2020 has shown that from tender age, females start suffering greater economic lack than boys leading to their missing out on education and other developmental opportunities. Example, in the North-East part of Nigeria, only 41 percent of eligible girls receive primary education, while 47 percent do so in the North-West. Similarly, the health of a female youth is compromised by poverty. Studies have revealed that girls living in poor households are more likely to be exposed to sëxual coercion and to engage in high risk behaviours such as transactional sëx, non-consensual sëx, and sëx with multiple partners than girls who are financially better off. In the same vein, studies on female sëx workers show that a large majority of them are under the age of 25. Poor household conditions often force young women to engage in sëx work, which increases their risk of HIV infection. Youth Advocates for Leadership and Development in Nigeria cites a growing body of evidence that reveals that economic disparities fuel the HIV pandemic and contribute to other negative health outcomes among female youths today. Peter Piot, former Executive Director of UNAIDS, affirms this when he stated that African countries’ HIV infection rates correlate with income. inequality. This negative impact of poverty on female youths is heavily felt in the tertiary education sector. Research findings show that approximately only one four students applying for university admission will get a spot. The majority who fail to go to university suffer this fate not necessarily because they didn’t meet the criteria for admission but because they lack the financial strength that will see them through school. So when you have graduated from college, started work, what do you do next? While most guys between 24 and 29 worry about career advancement, women of the same age worry about getting married. Your parents, neighbours, friends, everyone expects you to get married. For males, the pressure comes once they hit 30. People should marry for love, right? So, why the pressure? Is it parents? Is it our culture and traditions? Are we ready for marriage when society says we are? Could this rush to get married be the reason why many marriages do not last? And so the pressure grows. And then the more successful you become, the more society frowns. Society looks at you, and it does not matter how successful you may be – whether you have your own house, a car, or earn decently. Once you do not have a husband, then within the community, you have not made it in life. I have always been someone who believes that you do not have to get married for the sake of it and I do not put myself under pressure. Yes, I want to marry one day; and yes, I definitely want to have children, but I do not see getting married as an achievement. So many times, we see women getting bullied on the internet about not getting married. The likes of popular blogger Linda Ikeji, Yemi Alade and so on and this trolls come from the men whom the society has given an upper hand, so you are almost trained to take up that role. If you are a woman, you must feel privileged to be educated but then after that, you must wed and ‘build’ a home. I think that this is quite the standard for some parts of the world, where there are strong, spiritual and cultural influences. In a typical African family, this scenario has played itself countless times when young women are on the pressure to get married. It’s always the auntie(s) who are tirelessly reminding you. “Good afternoon aunty”, you greet her with the sweetest smile you can muster, which is not very much. After 15 minutes of idle chit-chat, she brings ‘it’ up again. “So you know Chioma is getting married next month ehn…….won’t you join her soon?” “Ha ha ha….well…aunty you know I….” you volunteer, while simultaneously having thoughts that are more like ‘Father Lord please get me out of this place י, now. She continues, “Hmmmmm .but, you are beautiful. Ehn….look at you, you’re smart, you’re just beautiful. You mean to tell me there is no man.” She asks while giving you her famous side eye. “Aunty you know naa. It will happen in God’s time, you know I….” You try again while she swiftly interrupts you. “Ah ah, but what about that handsome young man I saw in that picture with you? Where is he now?” Sigh. You are not about to start telling her that you and that ‘handsome young man’ have been broken up for the past six months. In fact, you have been single for quite some time now. “Hmmm, all you these young girls. You need to be very prayerful oh….” she says while pulling down on her ear. “You need to be very prayerful. Who knows, maybe now many of them are on their way? They would want to propose, but you, you are making list in your mind, long list of what you want. My dear,….. In the discussion of the factors responsible for military intervention in politics in African countries and Third World countries in general, two main schools of thought have developed. These two models are the internal characteristic model and the politicization model. The internal characteristic model was propounded by Morris Jamowitz. In his book, Jamowitz has argued that one can explain military intervention in politics mainly by reference to the internal structure of the military. In other words, the social background of the officers, the skill structure and career lines, internal social cohesion, the cleavages, professional and political ideology within the military are important factors which help to explain direct military intervention in politics. Samuel Huntington, has put forward what is now regarded as a second school of thought. He has condemned the first school of thought as baseless and has contended that “military explanations do not explain military interventions and that the most important causes of military intervention in politics are not military but political”. This in Huntington’s view is because military intervention in developing countries is only one specific manifestation of general politicization of social forces and institutions. Societies where most social forces and institutions are highly politicized have political clergy, political universities, political bureaucracies, political labour unions, political corporations and of course political armed forces. All these specialised groups tend to become involved in political issues which affect their particular interest or groups and also in issues which affect society as a whole. As a result the whole society is out of joint, and no political institution or group of political leaders is recognised or accepted as the legitimate intermediary to moderate conflicts, no agreement exists among the groups as to the legitimate and authoritative methods of resolving conflicts.” However, in discussing the factors responsible for military intervention in politics, a combination of the two schools of thought is carried out. Military rule is generally regarded as an aberration. A generally accepted political system is such a system that is governed, directed and controlled by a civilian political class which has been recruited by popular choice to the decision-making structures of the state. This conception is even held by the military itself. However, they still catapult themselves into political power. The reasons for such involvement in the political process include the following: Corruption among the civilian rulers may lead to a military intervention in politics. The African governments embarked upon independence lacking, besides internal cohesion, essential knowledge of governmental affairs and most of the essential institutions that form the basis of any stable government. According to a radio broadcast on the first military coup in Nigeria, one of the reasons given for the coup was “to bring to an end gangsterism and disorder, corruption and despotism. It ended; my compatriots, you will no longer need to be ashamed to be Nigerians.” The failure of the existing political institutions to establish a legitimate base and to win the respect and support of the powerful groups within the state may engineer a military coup. Thus, far from meeting widespread opposition to its intervention, the army may be welcomed as a means of ridding the state of the old corrupt and inefficient politicians.
