Chelsea football club is close to becoming the World most expensive sport franchise, as the takeover of the club is approaching it's final stage, and fee for the club is expected to be above £2.5 billion, which is the highest sum that have ever been paid for a sport franchise in history.

The Raine Group is a New York based merchant bank, who are in charge of overseeing the whole process of the sale of the club. In collaboration with the Chelsea board, they would be picking the best candidate to become the next owner of Chelsea, after evaluating the offers that was sent in by the interested parties, and other informations.

The sales process of the club might be getting very close to it's end, as the Raine Group has started delivering the outcome of their evaluation of the bids that was send in by interested parties, before the end of the Friday deadline that was set.

They have reportedly notify some of the parties that are not successful to reach the second phase of the takeover process, and they have been told that, they are ruled out of the race from becoming the next owner of the club.

The likes of Saudi Media, Woody Johnson, and the Nick Candy Consortium has been reported being rejected by the Raine Group, other parties that are left in the race includes The Todd Boehly Consortium, The Ricketts family, and the Martin Borough's joint bid with Lord Sebastian Coe.

The Raine Group hopes to complete the entire takeover process of the club before the end of April, as they are in the process of selecting the most preferred bidders, before they demand for a license from the government, to allow the sale of the club to go through.

Once the most preferred next owner of the club is selected and approved by the government, he will then go through the Premier League owners and director's test, before the takeover would be completed.

The Todd Boehly Consortium, which also includes Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, and Johnathan Goldstein are reported to be the firm favorites of becoming the next owner of the club.

The Martin Broughton and Lord Sebastian Coe joint bid, and the Ricketts family are still in the race, but the Todd Boehly Consortium is reported to be ahead of them.
