The so-called self defence law gets complicated when the so called "occupying power" is a sovereign country that has the right to also defend itself if invaded.
Self defense doesn't excuse premeditated, surprise and barbaric massacres of innocents civilians of an internationally recognized sovereign country.
In that case, the so-called self defence become a declaration of War.
You shouldn't also try to justify Oct 7th attack by Hamas.
