Tell me if the following places (and the people) in the Bible still exist today or not;
i. Egypt
ii. Lebanon
iii. Syria
iv. Jordan
v. Israel

These are the original names of the places and the people (with parts of Egypt) that were combined together and described as ''Palestine'' by the Romans. The Romans were in control of the region at the time.
And they all used to share a common international passport with ''Palestine'' as the name that symbolizes the combined area or region where the people come from. Just like people saying ''Sahel'' to describe the area covering Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad etc. It does not mean that ''Sahel'' is a separate country with its own indigenous people.
The word ''Palestine'' was/is never a single, autonomous country or people. That is why they cannot tell you or mention the names of kings from the so called ''Palestine'' that ruled over ancient kingdoms like Jerusalem, and other towns in Israel, unlike the Jews who can give you a long list of kings from among them.

When the Jews fought the Romans, they were conquered and driven away. Later, each component was granted their statehood (i.e. Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria all became independent states, while the Jews had been scattered abroad and did not have the numbers to do anything significant back home..
When the Ottoman empire took over the region, the land of Israel was like a ''no man's land'' because the Jews had been largely sent packing from their land, so the place became dominated by the Arabs who took over everywhere and entrenched themselves, their religion and culture in the land, with the few minority Jews living on the fringes!

When the British defeated the Ottoman empire, they decided to balance the history by restoring the Jews to their original Biblical land and giving them their statehood. That is why the state of Israel was formed in 1945. Otherwise, why would Israel only become a state in 1945 when they had been existing and living alongside, Egypt, Lebanon etc. for thousands of years before 1945?

So don't get confused! It is the Arab refugees in the land of Israel who refused to recognize and accept Israel's right to exist that decided to adopt the old name ''Palestine'' in order to use it because they believe it would give them some legitimacy and edge to claim ownership of the land!
