Corruption Risk: Officials will definitely use this as an excuse to harass, extort, and seize vehicles that aren’t truly abandoned.

Hurts the Poor: Most Nigerians drive old cars out of necessity. This policy could rob them of their livelihood, especially commercial drivers.

Crony Capture: Jobs and recycling contracts will likely go to political allies, not everyday Nigerians.

No Infrastructure: With no proper systems in place, enforcement will be arbitrary and unfair.

Fake Incentives: Promised rewards for voluntary compliance will never reach the poor, only the connected.

In reality, this policy could end up crushing more lives than cars. Without safeguards, it’s the poor who will pay the price.
