PhonesGet In: Infinix Note 4 With S Pen Will Debut On 3rd July. by eMqeror(op): 11:03am On Jun 27, 2017
When the rumor of Infinix Note 4 to feature S pen and front finger print just like the Samsung flagship devices flew by, I knew it was done! Infinix will push boundary amongst it's local competitors with the Note 4

Infinix Note 4 is set to launch on 3rd of July and it has been confirmed that it is coming with a stylus pen.

Pre-orders for the device has also started and you can get a 3D speaker or DNC Noise Cancelling earpiece if you pre-order the device.

If you have been following Infinix closely, you may have noticed that they are gearing up to launch a new smartphone, and it is the Infinix Note 4 which will be the successor of their last year’s Infinix Note 3.

This year, the Note is coming early than the previous versions which normally debut in the last quarter of the year.

It has also been confirmed that there would be a pro version of the device known as the Infinix Note 4 Pro.

So far, the main talking point of the Note 4 is the stylus pen which many has said will be known as the X-Pen.

Will you be saving for this one?

PhonesGretel A9 Full Phone Review With Screenshots by eMqeror(op): 9:30am On Apr 19, 2017
Going beyond the specifications we saw during the unboxing of the Gretel A9 phone, we were able to dedicate some amount of time to have a hands-on experience of the device. The performance of a phone doesn’t always depend on the specifications listed on the box, it’s more often about the user’s first experience and impression with the device. In that case, it is safe to say that the new A9 device was impressive beyond what its spec-sheet listed.

A well customized user interface based on Android 6.0 (Nougat update coming on April) plus the new front-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is now part of the multi-functional Home key, add that to the new design and the variety of paint jobs and finishes, and you get a device that is surely worth checking out.

With all the great features, the Gretel A9 still has some short coming in few aspect (as always with every device out there). At the course of this review, we will point out the low and high sides of this device, before we go into that in details, let’s glance through is its specifications.

Gretel A9 specs Highlight:

Body: Metal unibody, 2.5D curved screen
Screen: 5.0″ IPS LCD with 1,280 x 720 px resolution (320ppi)
Camera: 8Mp (13MP interpolated) Autofocus back camera with flash
Selfie cam: 2MP (5MP interpolated) front camera with flash
OS: Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
Chipset: MediaTek MT6737; 1.3 Ghz Quad-Core processor
Memory: 2GB of RAM; 16GB storage with microSD slot
Battery: 2,300mAh Li-Po (sealed)
Connectivity: Dual-SIM; LTE-A (Cat. 12 600/150Mbps); USB 2.0; Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac; GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo; Bluetooth 4.0
Misc: Fingerprint reader

Box and Components:

Gretel A9 comes in a compact paper retail box with no wrap and no seal. Our dazzling new Matte-Black Gretel A9 awaits inside, but there is more.

The retail box contains a charger plug and a proprietary USB 2.0 cable. This cable is compatible with regular USB 2.0 ports, so it’s not exclusive to the A9 only, There is a spare screen guide and a transparent case. The case is made of rubber, and it snaps fitted onto the A9 device. You will also find an ejector pin and the user guide in the box but sadly, no earphones.

Body and design:

The Gretel A9 is encased in a metal body with perfect curved angles to improve your handling of the device, Gretel offers the A9 in Matte-Black and Pink colors. The device weighs approximately 164 grams.

With a body dimension of 146.6 * 72.8 * 7 mm, the borders are slimmed down but still has enough room for the volume adjustment buttons that can be found on the left side border and the power button which is placed on the right side, just below the SIM/Memory card slot.

The top border is dominated by the USB port and audio jack while the bottom border is left with only the primary microphone hole.

The A9’s front is entirely covered by a fancy 2.5D shaped glass, making it look gorgeous and more premium, the top bezel of the screen is occupied by the 2MP (5MP interpolated) camera, soft flash, call speaker and the proximity sensor. The lower bezel of the screen makes room for the navigation keys, the home button is embedded with a fingerprint scanner that can be used for advanced security purposes.

Gretel has made a video showing the 7 cool ways to use USB OTG (On The Go) functions on the new A9 handset. Watch the video through the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDH65ovI0gE

From the video, you can directly access data on an external storage and play movies or music without having to store them on your phone, or use it as a non-cloud based backup mass storage to store any multi-media files what you want. It’s so easy for a wonderful on-the-go life.

Gretel A9 can couple your phone with peripheral devices, such as a wireless mouse, a wireless keyboard, game controller or camera controller. No configuration required, just connect it to your phone with a USB OTG cable. For example, it’s also a great way to use your smartphone if the touch screen is broken. We haven’t had enough of the Infinix Hot S X521 before learning that Infinix has gone under the hood for Infinix Note 3, there are unclear speculations that the Zero 4 is being worked on as well. We showed you some leaked pictures of the test version of Note 3 X601 not long ago and from what we saw in the pictures, the phone looked a lot promising.

Well, the pictures weren’t deceiving us, the Infinix Note 3 has a very sophisticated spec sheet, from the leaked spec write ups, the device will be clad with full metal and will have larger display estate of 6.0 inches. The screen will be in full resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.

The Infinix Note 3 is set to come with Android 6.0 marshmallow with the new XOS by Infinix running on top, like we saw from the pictures, there will be a finger print sensor at the back which can be used to unlock the device and for other security purposes.

The phone will arrive in two distinct versions, the first one will be using a 2GB RAM and on board storage of 16GB which can be further expanded with a TF card, it will also have a mediTek MT6573 chipset on the inside. Still for the first version, there will be a 13 mega pixel camera at the back and 5 mega pixel camera in the front, both are equipped with LED flashlights.

For the second version, you’ll get a 3GB for RAM and 32GB for storage space, Helio X10 MT6795 is what you’ll get for a chipset when you option for the second version of the Infinix Note 3X601. For photography, there is a combination of 16 mega pixel and 8 mega pixel for the bigger version, both cameras are having LED flashlights as well.

What's your take on this one? Will you rather wait for the Note 3 or go for the Hot S?

Selfie or no selfie, Hot S is the bomb!

PhonesInfinix Hot S X521 Official Thread, What To And Not To Expect by eMqeror(op): 8:31am On Jun 15, 2016
With the launch if the camon c9 still buzzing the net and Hot S lurking around, many will be contemplating between waiting for the Hot S or just going for the camon c9. The final decision will still be dependent on one thing; 'Their price tags'.

Nevertheless, this thread is specifically for Hot S, we've gotten our hands on the pictures and few specs of the Hot S from a reliable insider, the Hot S is set to be the next infinix flagship device.

Apart from the finger-scan technology, the phone will also feature VR technology.

Virtual reality or virtual realities (VR), also known as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, is a computer technology that replicates an environment, real or imagined, and simulates a user’s physical presence and environment to allow for user interaction.

The Infinix Hot S will also feature apps like Movie Magic that enables you to stream videos directly.
The device is hopefully going to be in phablet size with its reolution set at 1920 pixels, it will have a dual flash for the back camera placed just above the finger print scanner.

We will also be expecting a 3GB RAM or 2GB atleast for the device, battery juice is also going to big giving to the size of the phone. The loudspeakers are located at the edge below, centered by the USB port.

The Hot S definitely won’t come with a low price tag but I pray it just manages to be a little cheaper that the camon c9!

If you have more information about the upcoming infinix hot s please don't hesitate to share it below let's know what to expect.

PhonesOukitel K6000 Pro Unboxing And Review by eMqeror(op): 6:31am On May 28, 2016
Unboxing:

Opening the box will have you facing a 5.5 inches phablet, parked with a rubber case, going further into the box, you’ll find the SIM Ejection pin, a spare screen protector, the reverse charge cord, massive fast charger with its USB cord, User guide and the Warranty certificate.

Design:

The design of the K6000 pro is quite eye-catching, it boasts a more premium design having about 70% percent of its body made of full metal chassis. The K6000 pro comes in Three different colours; Carbon gray, Champagne gold and glacial silver, Depending on which colour you decide to go with, the front will be either black or white which is a very commendable effort by the company- Some phone makers will put a black front on each and every unit, even the white ones.

The border is finished with a shiny metal with chamfered edges, the volume adjustment and power buttons are made of metal as well, and they give a well positive feedback when pressed. The 3.5 mm audio jack is located at the top drifted towards the left; the USB type B port can be found centred at the bottom, right next to the micro phone hole.
At the back is a Finger print sensor sitting just below the Camera and dual LED flash, the loud speaker is placed further below at the back. The back is covered by a metal having curved edges and flattened middle section with very smooth finishes, this gives the device a very amazing and comfortable feel in hand.

Three capacitive keys with no LED light rocks the bottom bezel, the buttons looked a little bit reduced in size. The K6000 pro has a thickness of 9.8mm and weighs approximately 214 gram, it’s not hard to tell that the K6000 pro’s massive battery is the major contributing factor to its weight.

Display:

In the display department is one of the areas in which the K6000 pro definitely shines compared to its predecessor, the handset is equipped with a full HD screen that measures 5.5 inches diagonally, it holds a powerful resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels having a PPI (Pixels per-square inch) of 408.

The screen is protected by a Dragon trail glass that has an unusual thickness of 1.1mm (higher than the normal 0.7 mm found in most phones) making it shatter and scratch proof to a very high extent.
The overall display in the K6000 pro is great; colours appear very bold and vibrant when viewed from any angle. The screen acknowledges multi touch of up to 5 fingers at the same time.

Fingerprint Sensor:

The device uses a fingerprint unlock system, you can easily unlock the device by just placing a registered finger on the scanner for a second or less, this appeared to be very fast and you can add more fingers to be recognized.
The fingerprint sensor can also be employed to limit access control app permissions, but most people are typically going to use it for unlocking the phone.
Other sensors available are: G-sensor, Light sensor, Proximity sensor, and Hall Effect sensors.

Software and Processors:

Oukitel K6000 pro is running a barely customized android 6.0 marshmallow operating system, the app drawer is present this time, the launcher has two theme option you can choose from; ‘Sensation and Clasical’.

The company added some other nice features to further enhance the user experience, some of this features are; Gesture motion, Float Gesture and Gesture unlock.
The phone is powered by a MediaTek Octa-core chipset running at a speed of 1.3 GHz which rather poor with all the 64 bit octa-core chipset. There is a powerful combination of 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM to go with for multitasking and internal storage purposes, The space can be further expanded with a microSD card, great choice of phone for space and heavy users. You can choose to leave all your apps open and wont experience lags in the phones performance.

Camera:

The K6000 pro will make a good companion for picture lovers, it uses a 16 mega pixels camera for the primary shutter and 8 mega pixels (interpolated) for the secondary shutter, the rear camera works with a dual LED flash to produce bright and clean pictures even in dark conditions, it also has autofocus that made focusing on objects easier and avoiding blurred up images. The front camera has a face detection features which is very handy for quality selfie purposes.

Battery and Connectivity:

The K6000 pro is definitely a power house with its massive 6000 mAh non-removable battery, the device can stand 48 hours without charging. 5 minutes of charge from 0% gives you a talk time of 2 hours of talk time, thanks to its super fast charger with an output of 5v/7v/9v-2A.

With the charger, the device only takes 2 hours 30 minutes to fully charge and can also be used to power other devices haven come with a reverse charge cord .
The K6000 pro is a dual micro SIM device with one dedicated SIM slot, the second slot can either be used as an SD card slot or for a second SIM. It supports 4G, 3G and 2G network options on both SIM slots.

Connectivity options are Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and mobile hotspot, GPS and GLONASS. Other than that, there is a standard micro USB type B connector for data exchange.

Conclusion:

The K6000 pro was supposed to stand as a casual upgrade of the basic K6000 but the improvement came rather plenty, impressed by the display and its and battery life, the real deal breaker is the price tag we found the K6000 pro at.
The Oukitel K6000 pro is certainly a nice pick for anyone looking to experience premium features at a relatively low price tag of just 186 USD.

PhonesOukitel C2 Hands-on Review, Best Budget Smartphone So Far. by eMqeror(op): 8:10am On Mar 27, 2016
The C2 model might not have the best screen nor a big battery capacity, but from its price tag, its very clear that the C2 model is well targeted for those who wouldn’t want to break the bank to own a smartphone. Despite coming at low price tag of 60 USD (NGN12,500), the oukitel C2 still holds some cool features in store and for some reasons, it was showcased in the massive spotlight of the world’s biggest mobile expo – the MWC in Barcelona.

Without any further talk, lets dive into details and see what the Rainbow Kisser brings on board in terms of smartphone.

Unboxing;

Inside the box of the Oukitel C2 you’ll find the C2 device that was accompanied by a USB type C cord, a 5V/1A charger, 1,800 mAh battery, the warranty certificate, the user guide and an original 3.5 mm jack headphone that was missing in the box of the k4000 pro. Unfortunately, a protective rubber case has refused to ship with the phone but I believe that won’t be needed.

The Oukitel C2 felt incredibly light sleek, even with the battery on. Though the device doesn’t weigh that much, having a total weight of just 115 grams, the dimensions are 133.0 x 66.5 x 9.0 mm.

Design;

The general design of the C2 is really great but certainly not an award winner, it features a plastic unibody design which is something we regularly see in mid-range smartphones. The plastic cover is smoothly finished which gives it a more comfortable feel in the hand but lesser grip. The Oukitel C2 is provided in four different cool colours: Blue, White, Gold and Gray.

Power/Lock and volume adjustment keys can be found by the right hand side of the phone,at the top is the 3.5 mm jack audio port for headphones laying next to the micro USB port.The loud speaker is located below at the back while only the micro phone can be found at the bottom side of the phone.

Three are three action buttons just below the screen; Home, Menu and Back button, and above the screen is the call speaker and the front facing camera as there is no proximity sensor or notification light in this device. The screen has about 3.0 mm side bezels which is not for a mid-ranger.

Display;

Apart from the battery section, the display department is also where Oukitel have been very impressive, despite having a resolution of just 480p, the display present in the Oukitel C2 is somewhat brilliant, the colours came out very bold, clear and vibrant, although there is a barely noticeable tint of white towards yellow in the display just as we saw in the K4000 pro. The C2 does not support 3D display and has on two fingers multitouch detection.

The C2 has a resolution of 480 by 854 pixels with 240 pixel per-square inch (PPI) which is just fitting for its 4.5 inches screen. Just before you start asking, the screen of the C2 is not tampered and is therefore breakable, there is no protection from scratch on this one so the pre-installed screen guard will be very handy.

OS And Processor;

The oukitel C2 is running android 5.1 lollipop out of the box, another win in my book, date for a marshmallow update is not yet scheduled but we hope it will be available. The User interface in the C2 is quite lag-free, it operates smoothly even when we had more opened apps.

It also features Smart Gestures like: Double tap to wake, slide up to unlock, slide down to camera, draw ‘M’ to start music and so on but double tap to slide up to unlock, slide down to camera, draw ‘M’ to start music and so on but double tap to sleep is not available, the gestures responded quite faster than expected. There is no ‘Gesture Motion’ and ‘Smart Somatosensory’ features that we also saw in the K4000 pro.

Powering this device is a 1.3Ghz Quad Core CPU with MediaTek MT6580 processors which makes the phone faster in terms of processing. A much expected 1GB RAM is on board with a native storage of 8GB but only 4GB is available for the user, However the storage can be further expanded up to 32GB with a micro SD card.

Camera;
Oukitel C2 won’t be the best choice for those that will love to get the best out every shot, the device hosts a 5 mega pixels front and back shutters, it sports a single LED flash at the back. The flash didn’t come out bright when we tried taking a picture with it in a darker condition but it did help a bit.

Focusing on an image with the C2 camera is difficult as the camera has no autofocus features, most images taken with the phone came blur while some look just good, or something lesser than good.

The camera features HDR, Face detection, Smile detection and voice capture where you can take shots by just saying “Cheese” or “Capture”, a new and interesting feature. Both the rear and front camera can capture up to 3072 by 1728 pixel images and also supports video recording.

Sound;

Sound produced from the speakers of the Oukitel C2 is worth mentioning, it was really beyond my expectations, the sound from the C2 is very loud enough and clear – even better than what we normally see in some high-end smartphones. The call speaker at the other is also very loud and clear during call.

Connectivity;

There is no 4G connectivity option in this device but it supports dual SIM standby with two dedicated micro SIM slots. Network bands are; HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 for 3G and GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 for 2G, It also supports Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct, bluetooth v4, A-GPS and microUSB v 2.0. There is a Threaded message format available, IM, Emails, Push mail and MMS are also available.

Battery;

The Oukitel C2 didn’t perform well in the battery department, it houses a 1,800 mAh of battery juice which is at the same time higher than the 1,400 mAh we had in the former Oukitel C1. The rainbow kisser has a battery saving mode that will help you get more from every charge.

It didn’t come with a fast charger as that won’t be needed, it took approximately 2hr 30 min to fully charge from 0% with its 5V/1A output charger. The battery has a standby of 48 hours and talk time of 11hrs with 3G, when we tried playing a car race game with the device, the battery discharged 14% in about 29 minutes, certainly not for gamers and hard users.

Conclusion;

Oukitel C2 is obviously not a record breaker in any form but it is well targeted for those that wants to own an OKAY android devices and wouldn’t want throw in much for that. The overall performance and user experience of this device is quite impressive and coming at a price of just 60 USD (12,500) makes it worth looking out for.

I just watched the video. Wait a minute, did u just call a 5.0V 1.5amp charger a fast charger? Seriously, are u kidding me? With a massive 4,600mah battery it would take like 6 hours to charge that phone. Even a normal 5v 2 amp charger will still take long to charge. I don't know what is wrong with these chinese companys. You make a phone with huge battery and u put a tiny 5v 1.5amp charger, then what's the point of having the huge battery when it will take forever to charge. If they can't have quick charge built in at least put a bigger charger. And that phone is too bulky, there are phones with same or bigger batterys that look slimmer.
From my user experience, it doesn't take as long as you're thinking to fully charge the phone, it charges real quick and battery last incredibly long. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge the device, those slimmer phones ain't as strong as the K4000 pro.

Unboxing

Unboxing the K4000 Pro will see you facing a 145.6 by 72 mm smartphone that was carefully layed with a transparent rubber pack. Inside the box, you’ll also find a 5v/1.5A output charger and a USB cable, a warranty certificate and the quick guide.

Hardware And Design

Oukitel might not have the most beautifully designed nor the slimmest smartphones out there but sure have their say in terms of design, the K4000 pro is finely crafted with a 2.5D CND metal chasis around the border with a curved arc design, the arc design which is absent in the former K4000 is said to give the device more protection from drop falls, this literally makes it a drop-proof smartphone.

At the top, you’ll find a micro USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, the power button lays by the left as the volume adjustment keys occupies the right side of the device. Only the micro phone hole can be seen at the bottom.

The back is covered with a crocodile leather, when you decide to take off the cover, you’ll be looking at a big 4,600 mAh battery. There is a space for micro SDcard by the left and the two spaces for your micro and normal SIM cards at the other side.

Display

In the screen department is where the K4000 pro offered the most, it crammed a 5.0 inches screen with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and a PPI of 294 which is just okay for a 5-inch screen. The screen has a full 3D support, the overall performance of the screen is really impressive, it looked like something higher than just 720 pixels although there’s a barely noticeable yellowish tint to its colors. White gets shifted a bit towards yellow when you look at the screen at an angle, but everything remains very clearly legible and the colors are very vibrant. The contrast and brightness are both obviously great.

The thickness of the screen is said to be 1.1 mm which is higher than the normal 0.7 mm found in most touch screen phones, the glass also has a protection of 9H hardness, highly resistant to scratches, pressure, shocks and drops. Three action button with no LED lights are located just below the screen; The back, home and menu button, the proximity sensor is located at the top with the front facing camera, there is no notification light in the the device.

OS and Processor

The Oukitel K4000 pro comes with android 5.1 lollipop pre-installed with quite cool features to enhance the user experience, The company will be releasing android 6.0 marshmallow update via OTA by the end of February for the k4000 pro along with the K10000 and K6000. It supports smart gesture such as: double tap to wake screen, slide up to torch and so on, some other features like ‘double tap home key to lock screen’ , ‘clip screen’ and so on are also available, see screenshots in source link.

The K4000 pro is powered by MediaTek MTK635 chipset. It is the same 1.0 GHz quad-core processor that powers the Oukitel K4000 handset. The SoC on the K4000 Pro is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The native storage available on the K4000 Pro is 16 GB and it can be further expanded to up to 64 GB of microSD card if the user requires more storage space.

We ran an AnTuTu Benchmark test on the K4000 pro, check the source link for the result screenshots

Camera

The device has 8 Megapixel camera at the back with 13 Megapixel interpolated, this means the 8 MP camera can function as a 13 MP camera, as you can see in the AnTuTu benchmark records above, it shows 13 instead of 8 Megapixels for the camera. There is a single LED flash light just below the camera which will ensure bright pictures even in dark conditions, the camera can capture up to 4160 x 3120 pixel pictures, it also features auto focus, HDR, Geo-tagging, Panorama. The front facing camera has 2 Megapixel with 5 Megapixel interpolated, it can capture up to 2880 x 1728 pixel pictures.

Connectivity

Connectivity options available in the K4000 pro are; EDGE (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz), 3G GPRS (HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz) and 4G LTE 1/3/7/8/20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz). the 4G band is higher than the one found in the former k4000. It also supports Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct, bluetooth v4, A-GPS and USB OTG support. The smartphone also comes with some pre-installed apps like; the google apps, radio and it also features document viewer and image editor.

Battery

In the battery section, the Oukitel K4000 pro houses a large 4,600 mAh removable battery which can last up 4 days on standby when fully charged, the k4000 pro also has some super power saving modes and fast charge technology, The 5v/1.5A output charger can charge it from 0 to 100% in 3 hour. From our personal user experience, it took 9 minutes of heavy browsing with full 3G before the battery went down by just 1%.

Conclusion

No doubts, the Oukitel K4000 pro was built with durability in mind, for those that find it difficult maintaining the screen of there touch screen smartphone and need something that can withstand those severe falls, frequent scratches an all those reckless handling, You should be thinking of getting a K4000 pro for your self, not only will get a relatively strong smartphone, you’ll also get a large battery and other cool features at a very affordable price of just 120 USD which is around NGN37,000 (with the current exchange rate) in Nigeria.
