IMO: Coming from Owerri, take a bus from Ama JK to Nkwerre. Make sure that you'd tell the driver that you're going to the NYSC camp in Eziama Obaire Nkwerre, stop at Nkume junction and take a bike to the camp. The distance from Owerri to the camp is like 40 minutes to 1 hour and the bus charge will be ranging from 300 to 500.

CHECKLIST 2: REQUIREMENTS for DAILY LIVING

MONEY: No much talk. you know why this is on the top of the list. Money is key!
Waist Pouch: Keep your essentials and valuables close to you always. you will need this.
Beverages: Take am dey follow up.
Plates, Flask and Cups: that is if you want to eat camp food. But heads up! The food is usually awful but on few occasions, it is OK. FEW!
Basic Drugs: because camp clinics can be inadequately equipped.
Towels
Pair of Shorts: because the ones given to you in your nysc kit will likely tear sooner than you expect.
Extra Socks
Plain T-shirts
Mosquito Nets: This is Nigeria, I do not need to say too much. you know the little vampires that fly at night
Bedsheets and Pillows
Head warmers

CHECKLIST 1: REQUIREMENTS for nysc camp REGISTRATION

CALL-UP LETTER:
This is the most important document of your registration process and that is why it tops the list. you may be wondering if it is actually possible to forget your call up letter, but my dear it is. This letter identifies you as a prospecting copper. So endure you make necessary photocopies of it.

LIFE SAVING HINTS 1: Please oooo! Do NOT laminate your call-up letter. Never do that, unless you want to be sent home. Secondly, when printing your letter, make sure the cyber cafe uses a laser jet printer because these types of printers are less susceptible to water damage. just in case of anything.

STUDENT ID CARD
Your school ID card must be with you, as a form of identity and proof that you graduated from the school stated on your certificate.

CERTIFICATES AND STATEMENT OF RESULTS
Have your original and about 7 photocopies of your statement of result and all other certificates especially for medical graduates.

PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPHS
Get about 25 because you will need to do many registrations. if you don’t, get ready to pay double the price at the camp for passport.



If you successful registered with no issues, congratulations. you will now be given a nysc State Code Number. Put it on your ID card round your neck.

Get your nysc Kit and Mattress and secure a room for yourself. This nysc kit contains the following:

nysc Crested Vest
Khaki Trousers
Cap and Jacket
White T-shirts
Green-stripped Stockings
Orange Jungle Boots
White Converse.

My phone rang twice.
12 whatsapp messages from Damaris.
She was calling and texting me to tell me to go and check my NYSC Call up letter, that it was out already.

I was dumfounded when i saw her whatsapp text, i was even sad, kind of.

Today is 23rd and i didn't expect to be called up till month end of next month even.

I was among those who wanted to go to camp a bit late so as to gather enough money for the "21 days jamboree" as i heard it was.

Imagine my heartache when I learnt we were to resume camp on 27th.

What the hell?

I didn't even have up to half of what i budgeted for camp in my head.

...and to top it off, guess where they posted your boy to?

Kano State of all places.
Kano, that small city that nothing happens i thought to myself gloomily all day.

Meanwhile, my sweet smallie (which is the nickname i gave Damaris, the girl who called me earlier. Actually, i am very fond of ladies and i give all of them special nicknames) she was posted to Ebonyi, an eastern state.

She wanted Rivers, i wanted Akwa Ibom.

We both didn't get what we wanted so we laughed at each other and taunted for a bit.

I went off to print the printables and buy the NYSC whites.

Since it wasn't Akwa Ibom, the home of beautiful girls in Nigeria, i reasoned that my budget should come down as Kano girls were not my type so no need to waste money impressing what I don't want although I wouldn't necessarily meet Kano girls in camp, i was just livid for nothing.

So i bought 4 shorts and 5 tops instead of the 6 and 8 i would have if I'd gotten Akwa Ibom or Calabar.

I bought 2 tennis shoes and 6 pairs of socks, which were way below what i would have gotten.

You people don't understand. I was preparing to SLAY the camp totally.

My name is Harrison, i hail from Agbor in Delta State and I am also partly Edo.
