Business / Re: I Want To Give Out N20,000 A Month To Help Young Nigerians (for Career Or Biz) by eninaija(f): 7:00pm On Apr 14, 2015
GenoMI:
Hello house, how is everyone doing? Just to let you know that I have actually managed to partner with a major training provider based in the UK called Skillsology to provide discounted training for the Skills On The House initiative - I still can't believe it grin. I started talking to them about a month ago, just after I decided to start this initiative. I told them the details of what I'm trying to do, sent them a link to my site and they were interested and very willing to support by giving their courses to me with very good discounts.

They have a good variety of quality online courses and I shall be updating my website with their courses soon. This means that people who are interested in getting a free course now have many courses they can choose to apply for.

Wow! Well done!

Wish you more and success . Dream bigger dreams...

You can check out skillsology at www.skillsology.com

Wow! Keep up d good work, I am proud of you.

Nice name, you av a creative mind.

[ quote author=GenoMI post=31821136]Thanks @pinbar

Hello house, how has everyone been? I'm back again with an update - I'm please to announce that the site is now live at www.skillsonthehouse.com. Also on twitter @SOTHNigeria

Skills On The House as in Free skills (think Drinks on the house, LOL) grin grin

The great thing about this is that I put the website up by myself - I used wordpress which I knew absolutely NOTHING about before I started this initiative. So I just went online, searched for a cheap online wordpress course, paid and did the course. It lasted 6 hours and I was able to complete it in about a week. It took that long because of my seriously tight schedule and I was only able to do about an hour a day.

After completing the course, I was actually able to get the site up and running with very little hassle (thanks also to google for helping me find answers whenever I got stuck) - I will be giving out that wordpress course very soon as well. Anyone can pick it up and build a business around designing websites grin grin

You can head to the site to drop a comment to enter for a chance to get a free course. I will be giving out 2 courses to 2 people next week:

1) Online Digital & Social Media Marketing Diploma

2) Starting an Online Business

A few friends have expressed interest in giving money towards the initiative so that they can also help sponsor people to learn new skills. I have refused to collect for now because I want to build a solid process around this first and ensure transparency - truth is I don't want to collect anyone's cash because I want to be fully accountable and don't want anyone to think their funds are being diverted elsewhere. So right now, I'm working on developing a process around how other Nigerians can get involved and give whatever they have.

As usual, your ideas are welcome. Thanks soo much for the encouragement and support soo far. God Bless you all.[/quote]

Great idea GenMi

20k could help a lot. I feel you should channel it to people who already have a very good plan that is sustainable should be given priority.
For example, training a smart person with graphic skills will lead to job creation.

To increase d value of d 20k, you could negotiate a very good discount with trainers / training for the People you could be training :monthly.

Keep up d good work!

Emphasis on 'You intend'. Do you have any affiliation to this company ? As an employee, presumably, your tax structure would be on P.A.Y.E, so you do not tax clearance.
Yes I do, I work for d company part time. My account currently shows income from the Company and others.

The directors are my friends.

You intend to start your travel life by telling a lie! shocked
This is just the kind of thing that will get you a ban.
Any tiny, tiny, slip up in your story or the evidence and your travel prospects for many years will be ended.

Wait untill you have an honest history and ties to home.

Well, its not a lie. I work for the Company part time. I do freelance corporate work for the Company n many odas. My account already shows income from d company; dts y I considered using it as my employer.

I am self employed and I want to travel for family visit to the Uk. I intend to use a friends company as my employer because d it has tax clearance.
Will a photocopy of d tax clearance be ok?
As an employee, do I need to show tax clearance?

Thank you

Money lodging is a NO-NO, historical use of account and true financial reflection is key.
N600,000 in relation to how much you earn pcm, expenditures, travelling expenses etc etc etc, is paramount to prove you are not about to spend a couple of months wage on a couple of weeks holiday !!!
NB: Since you are working, I would advice you submit personal details(you are above the age of consent)
Regarding your law firms registration, do you intend using tax clearance from this unregistered firm or other?
I Would advise only applying, when all your documentations are in order !!!

Thank you, I could use another Law firm (as my employer) but I feel d new one will help to prove ties to Nigeria since I am a Partner. So I must show tax clearance even if d firm is new?
I don't av a fixed income, but money goes in n out of my account. I was just thinking 600k will be fyn.

Yes use your personal account and the new firm will act as your tie to Nigeria.

Money lodgement is a bad idea.

Thank you for the prompt response!
Do I need tax clearance 4 d firm?
The problem is dt my account is not so good right now; from now to march, I may need to make some lump lodgement to get it ready.
Am tinking at least 600k. Will dt be enough?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by eninaija(f): 8:33pm On Jan 13, 2015
Well done all,
I plan to apply for a Uk visa (in March) to visit my Sister in London. I am still trying build my account. I heard lump lodgement could lead to denial? I am working ,

Should I use my personal bank acct or get sponsorship from my Mum?

I hear dt it is advisable for a working adult to use their personal account.

Also, I am abt to register a law firm with a Partner will this help to prove strong ties to Nigeria? Do I need to show tax clearance for the new firm?

What should I do? I need advise... @justwise @vicjustice

Lead time deals with the amount of time taken from inception to production.
Eg. It takes 5 month lead time for Production for egg production.

I am a YouWiN! 3 winner and I must tell you that I didn't know or bribe anyone to win my millions!

However, please note that you need to know your biz. Know your proposed or existing
customers. Know your market segment. Know your market
location. State how to mitigate the risks and challenges in your
biz. State your market strengths and weaknesses. Know your
biz lead time. Know when your biz would break even. Know the
stages involve in your production and/or services. Know how to
rehash and lots more...

YouWiN! Is not as easy as you see the first stage questions. The second stage questions are world class questions but its something you can always answer even if you didn't attend a higher institution as it only demand time, passion and hard work

Don't be in a rush to submit your business notes, always ensure you read it all over again and again.
Thanks 4 d tips, please explain business lead time....

rati ken: From what I've seen so far, GEJ is a performer. He can achieve a lot if only these evil opposition can focus on constructive criticism rather than frustrating all the positive efforts by this administration.
Assuming APC succeeds in taking over leadership, there will be similar opposition with antagonistic tendencies and nothing will be achieved in all. Nigeria and the masses losses out in the whole scheme of thing. Evil opposition has to stop.

Quite true...but this 2014, he should not give excuses sha! Opposition will always be there.
