Popular Ado Ekiti-based traditional musician, Chief Elemure Ogunyemi, has been pronounced dead.

Although the cause of death for the highly respected indigenous musician is yet to be disclosed, reports have it that the Chief was said to have battled diabetes for a while and had been managing his health very well until his passing late yesterday.

The folk musician, who turned 67 just last month, precisely on August 25, 2014, died in his Ado Ekiti residence last night. Rumours of death have been circulated concerning the musician known widely in the Southwest part of the country as Baba Elemure, already this year before he eventually departed earth yesterday.

The rumour mill was agog in May but the chief had to debunk the death rumours in a chat with Punch. ‘I was at home enjoying with my family when calls began to pour into my mobile phone from my friends and admirers, trying to confirm what was going on. In fact, the situation was so disturbing that I had to invite some of them to my house to come and see for themselves.

It is not only embarrassing but unfortunate that some people are wishing me dead when I didn’t even fall sick. There was even a time they claimed I had been paralyzed but they are all lies,’ he had said. The Ekiti State-born musician once collaborated with a young Nigerian rapper known as DV some years ago.

Signed to the Kennis Music platform at the time, DV promoted himself as a rapper with a voice that had an uncanny resemblance with American rapper, DMX back then.

Like many of his generation, his burial is expected to have the involvement of the Ekiti State Government

An eyewitness who saw Daniele and Brian as he worked in a nearby office tells TMZ … Brian was sitting in the passenger seat with his feet on the curb and Daniele was straddling him with her shirt pulled up — breasts exposed. The eyewitness says she was grinding on top of him, rocking back and forth.

Someone from the office went down and asked Daniele and Brian to stop because everyone in the office could see them but they continued.

The eyewitnesses say Brian then began “horizontally bongoing her boobs back and forth.” He says she eventually reached into the center console, grabbed a tissue, wiped him down and then herself and tossed it on the grass.

Someone from the office called the cops and made an indecent exposure complaint. TMZ obtained police audio when the cops came out, and Daniele played the race and fame cards.

Apple has revealed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to the world, alongside the long-awaited Apple Watch, at one of the year’s most hotly anticipated Apple event.

Apple has revealed its new iPhone 6 smartphone at an exclusive event in California in two sizes – the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

The smaller model, the iPhone 6, is sized at 4.7-inches, while the larger iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5-inches, and both are slimmer than any previous incarnation.

Speaking at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California, where Steve Jobs unveiled the first Apple Macintosh computer 30 years ago, chief executive Tim Cook told the crowd he was launching “the biggest advancement in the history of iPhone”.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president, joined Cook onstage to explain the two handsets’ new features and specifications, adding they were “the best phones ever made”.

Like predecessor the iPhone 5s, the two new models will come in silver, space grey and gold, and will be available to purchase from September 19.

Each will come in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB configurations, with the iPhone 6 starting from £539, £619 for the 64 GB version and £699 for the £128 model. The iPhone 6 Plus will retail from £619 for 16GB, £699 for the 64GB model and £789 for the new 128GB model.

The iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1334 x 750 with 326 pixels per inch, while the 6 Plus had as resolution of 1920 by 1080 and 401 pixels per inch, equating to 1080 HD resolution.

The new phones will feature equal or better battery life than the 5s, Schiller added, saying “they are the best we’ve seen and the best we know how to make,” he said.

“These products have bigger screens and they’re amazing but they’re much better in every single way,” Cook added.

The phones’ iSight camera uses Focus Pixels for faster auto focus, and the 6 Plus uses optical image stabilisation technology to minimise blur when capturing moving subjects.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, talked the crowd through new payment system Apple Pay, a form of contactless payment which uses Apple’s TouchID technology to verify your identity, beginning in the US before being extended to other countries.

Users will be able to pay for goods swiftly and conveniently by holding the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus near a contactless reader, while keeping a finger on the TouchID homebutton.

The new handsets are the first Apple products to ship with new operating system iOS 8, featuring new frameworks HealthKit and HomeKit, designed to enable health and fitness apps to work together, and to control internet-enabled home appliances in one place.

OS 8 will be available to download from September 17, and the iPhone 6 will be available to pre-order from September 12.

Silicone and leather cases will be available, and Apple said it was working with TMobile in the US and EE in the UK.

Queues have already formed outside Apple’s flagship London and New York stores as fans eagerly stake their claim.

Apple’s highly anticipated entry into the world of wearable technology is the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch will monitor health and fitness, tracking the wear’s movement, heart rate and activity with built-in sensors, feeding the information into Apple’s Health app for the iPhone and iPad, allowing review and analysis of the data.

“This is the most personal device we’ve ever created,” said Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook. “We’ve set up to make the best watch in the world. One that is precise. It’s synced with a universal time standard.”

It uses a “digital crown” on the side of the watch, that turns like a jog dial for adjusting functions on the watch, like zooming and setting the time – no pinching to zoom required. It also functions as the home button.

The screen is covered by a curved sapphire glass screen touch screen that can also detect pressure as well as simple touch to differentiate between a tap and a touch, complete with vibrating haptic feedback and loud speaker.

The Apple Watch is charged by a wireless, inductive charging pad that magnetically aligns to the back of the watch.



Three editions

The smartwatch will be available in three editions: the stainless steal Watch, aluminium Watch Sport and 18c gold Apple Watch Edition.

Six different straps will also be available, complete with a quick remove clasp that attaches to the watch.

All three will will requires the iPhone for connectivity via Bluetooth and will work with iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6 and 6 Plus, but will not be available until early 2015 starting at $349 in the US.


Apps, taps and touching

Several of Apple’s apps will be available on the Watch, including Siri, Messages, Maps and lots of at-a-glance information pulled from calendars, email and other apps on an iPhone.

Maps will provide walking directions right on your wrist, buzzing for each turn required in the same way Google Maps operates on Google’s Android Wear smartwatches.

Siri will be available, launched by holding in the digital crown, as is voice dictation.

Apple also has a quick reply board for replying to messages that analyses the text coming in and suggests responses, or pick from a selection of customisable emoji, for when talking into the watch for voice dictation isn’t appropriate.

Apple’s new contactless mobile wallet, Apple Pay, will also be available on the Apple Watch to enable users to pay for goods and services in the US using the smartwatch like a contactless credit card.

Hundreds of third-party apps, like Twitter, Facebook and others will also be available, arranged in clusters on the screen for easier launching on the smaller screen, zooming in using the digital crown.

Apple also includes a new communication app called digital touch, which allows users to share taps, small drawings and even their heart beat with other Apple Watch users.

The Apple Watch can also control music playing on iPhone or iPad devices around it, as well as storing music locally on the Watch, playing through Bluetooth headphones.



Health and fitness

Apple’s focus on fitness extends to the Apple Watch plugging into the Health app on the iPhone for sharing with third-party apps.

Two new apps on the watch track two different levels of activity. The Fitness app tracks general activity, steps and calories burned throughout the day, like many fitness trackers currently available like the Misfit Shine or Jawbone Up.

It tracks both activity, but also how sedentary the wearer has been to avoid sitting too long in one place by prompting desk workers to get up and move throughout the day.

The Workout app tracks specific activity for custom workouts, acting like a personal trainer on your wrist based on your heart rate and motions.


Tough competition

The wearable technology market is a growth area for mobile technology as smartphones reach a 70% saturation point in developed markets including the US and UK. In 2013, 9.7m wearables, including fitness trackers and smartwatches were sold worldwide, according to data from research firm CCS Insight. That number is expected to reach 22.3m in 2014.

In the first week of September, Europe’s largest electronics trade show, IFA in Berlin, saw more than 10 different wearable devices introduced by big name electronics manufacturers. Samsung, Sony, Asus and Motorola all launched smartwatches, many running Google’s Android Wear software.

Wearable technology has struggled to become mainstream, with few convincing use cases and ugly designs for devices trying to replace jewellery on peoples’ wrists. Smartwatches and other wearable technology have seen a high rate of abandonment too, with one third of Americans ditching the devices within six months of trying them, according to research by Endeavour partners.

Whether the Apple Watch will become mainstream is unknown but this Christmas will be the wearable season as shops and online stores push the myriad of devices, which Apple will not be playing part in this year.

Love tends to fluctuate over weeks, months, and years. Basically, over time. Even in one day or an hour, love can and does fluctuate.

The fluctuation does not mean that love disappears from the relationship. It is natural for love to fluctuate from time to time in human relationships, whether we want it or not, like it or not.

What do you do people, when love fluctuates? How do you react when the feelings of affection temporarily waivers?

How will you respond to the inevitable phenomenon called “fluctuation”? What will you do when sh*t hits the fan in your relationship?

Would you lock up shop and throw away the key? Would you quit trying and assume the relationship to be dead?

Would you run away, fret away like a scared chick, or stand and fight?

You say, “Oh, I’m not in love with you anymore. My feelings for you has changed, that is why I am divorcing you. I just know how I feel today is how I’m going to feel the rest of my life and I deserve to be happy.”

Wait a minute! Why not fight for your love, fight for your union together?

Scratch that! You don’t even have to fight. You don’t have to battle nothing to keep your relationship from going awry.

All you have to do is persevere, persevere, and persevere.

Patience and perseverance, – virtues we unfortunately have in short supply in our midst as humans – is the key to a lasting love affair.

It is common knowledge that patience which we lack is the key to the longevity of any relationship, and any association of any kind with anybody for that matter.

If that happens, it will not be hidden and everyone will know. I’m begging Nigerian girls to please leave her alone. Some Nigerian girls have already been attacking her on social media since this fake story came out.’

Metallica, Eminem and Miley Cyrus have all been added to the new edition of the Guinness Book Of World Records.

The 2015 edition of the tome, which is released next week (September 11), also features other new additions including Katy Perry, One Direction and Shakira.
As Billboard reports, Metallica’s inclusion is for their feat of becoming the only band to ever perform gigs on all seven of the Earth’s continents in one year. They crowned the achievement with their gig in Antarctica last December.

Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, now holds the world record for being the most searched-for pop star on the internet, partly due to the buzz she generated after her controversial performance at last year’s MTV VMAs and the video for her single ‘Wrecking Ball’. Eminem’s ‘Rap God’ is also recognised as being the hit single which contains the most words – it totals 1,560 words in its six minutes and four seconds running time.

Other new entries include Shakira, who became the first person to reach 100 million ‘likes’ on Facebook; Katy Perry, who has the most Twitter followers (52, 463, 838); and One Direction, who are the first act to debut at Number One with their first three studio albums. Although American rapper, Tupac Amaru Shakur, was declared dead as far back as 1996, conspiracy theories that the enigmatic rapper is alive and in hiding have refused to go away.‎ Social media is currently abuzz with reports that 2pac is not just alive but was recently spotted among Hollywood celebrities including pop diva, Beyonce Knowles.‎

The rumour mill started buzzing following a report by satire website, Huzler’s report insinuating the ‘rapper comes out of hiding after 18 years.’ According to Huzler’s report, ‘Tupac Shakur who was supposedly killed at the age of 25 is now admitting he has been hiding this whole time. It was Shakur who in 1996 was reportedly attending a special event in Las Vegas, the Mike Tyson-Benson fight, and then afterwards was brutally murdered, the report began.‎‎’ ‎Posting along with it an image of Tupac, also known as Makaveli, with Beyonce, ‎the report continues:

‘A day or so later he is autopsied, then quickly cremated. There is no funeral. Nor is there any record of a tribute or memorial. Now we know exactly why it was because Tupac Shakur was never killed it is unclear why he has been hiding. This story is still under development but Tupac has already been spotted with Celebrities.’‎‎ The report is a complete hoax. Tupac was clearly shot four times at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vega on September 7, 1996 and died six days later while undergoing treatment.‎

But that has not stopped repeated fake reports from grabbing global attention.‎ Among reports circulating at present is one that 2pac will resurface on September 13, 2014. One hopeful fan wrote: ‘Reading conspiracies about how Tupac is still alive and will come back September 13, 2014. The more I read the more I believe it.’

If you haven’t been living in a cave, then you must have heard about the Ice Bucket Challenge otherwise called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It is an activity that involves dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head and/or donating to the ALS Association in the US. The origin of the idea is yet unknown but Wikipedia says it became popular in the US on June 30, 2014 when a challenge was televised live on the Golf Channel Morning Show.

So far, over a thousand celebrities including Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft’s Bill Gates and our very own Don Jazzy, Genevieve Nnaji, Peter Okoye and others have joined in the challenge making it the latest social media craze. Here are 5 things you didn’t know about the Ice bucket challenge

1. It was started to raise awareness for and money to tackle Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a medical condition that makes the victims lose ability to initiate and control all voluntary movement including speaking, swallowing and breathing.

2. Forbes reports that the association in August alone, has raised about N93m, and over N2b since the challenge began a few months ago.
