cool4ny:@cool4ny, You've said it all! How can a religion that lays claim to peace be full of violence, hatred and irrationality why is it that you cannot have a debate with its practitioners without them trying to disapprove of another religion (esp. christianity) without answering the question ![]() and how long are people going to turn a blind eye to what is blatantly before them ![]() Let's call a spade, a spade. |
jaybaby:abeg @jaybaby, no mind dem jare! not to worry, when that good thing comes, we will make jolly-jolly ![]() |
Uche2nna:
@Uche2nna Onye ndidi n'eli az'ukpo Marriage no be rush-rush affair. I willi get dia! ![]() Seriously, I lost one of the films, think I forgot it at the reception venue so you'll wait just a little longer, biko nwanna. and Charlize is still not African! ![]() |
Drusilla:@Drusilla, with all due respect and i mean this in the best possible of ways, but are you married to someone you don't love. Because you sound as if you are and if you had to do it, then the rest of us must!!I sincerely hope you're not thinking that the idea of love we're talking about here is simply that of feelings; no, it's far much more than that. However, it's certainly not duty either.Yuck!!! God is certainly not going to drag you by the ear and force you to marry someone . And just for the record, can you justify your Old testament quotation with some from the New because there must be an agreement between the old and the new, I believe. My sister, I don't know how you see it o! but I know that love is important to prevent the resentment and frustration that will come[and it will come] in a loveless marriage. I also know that if God gives us without sorrow - that good job, admission into school, an affordable accomodation,e.t.c. then a life-partner shouldn't be the one thing we want from him that will come with sorrow. peace ![]() ps. @rotbog, Unfortunately, it's not me. Nice of you to ask though. ![]() |
Uche2nna:@Uche2nna, nwannem, thanks Will pass on your good wishes. As for mine , k'anyi n'en'e anya (make we dey look eye) |
@ebonymanUK, Your best bet will be amazon.co.uk. that's where I bought mine |
Expose him, expose him, expose him!!!! For how long will we continue to bury our heads in the sand Nigeria has not moved on because of this mentality. If we indeed want to make a change then let's do all we can and that includes exposing any ole, ony'oshi and barawo in our midst.like others have said an anonymous tip-off to EFCC should do the job. Ribadu is more than ready to cart them all of to where they belong - the dungeons!!!!!! |
Emad:@Emad, lol ![]() abeg i like Amechi Muonagor; I think he's a good actor but I agree with you that he needs to be slapped to reduce the volume of his tirades and to empty his stomach before it bursts on us and reveals the contents |
Topic: Can God Lead You To Someone You Don't Love In Marriage? Answer - A resounding No! God is not an author of confusion; He is a God of Love. What am I even saying, GOD is Love and His blessings maketh rich and addeth no sorrow.(Prov.10:22) Have you ever seen a choir member who hates singing or a keyboardist who postitively hates what he/she is doing. sure sometimes when God is 'leading' us into something, we might be reluctant at first but we eventually, with much prayer and waiting on Him, (not on Pastors, neighbours and friends, ) will be at peace with His leading. And that is the operative word, peace. HE will not lead you where His grace cannot keep you; like a loveless marriage for instance. This is a true story: He was led by God to marry this woman who he didn't love; even as a deacon in church, he was having flings because he hated his wife and wanted to be free of her. he fell in love with another woman and it was this love that put an end to his infidelities. According to him 'I couldn't imagine myself with another woman' (his wife included). Fortunately/unfortunately, (depending on how you see it) his wife died and now he is (happily) married to his true love. Moral of this story - God will Not lead you to marry someone you don't love because He knows that marriage is hard enough without you getting into it with low expectations/no love (which is the most essential ingredient). While the man in the above may be blamed for his misfortunes, let's take heed. Most men I spoke with told me that when a man has all he needs at home i.e. in his wife, he doesn't see the need to 'go out'. Fine, that may not be the case for all men. But think about it - if you don't love this person, how are you going to *****, eat, drink and share a 'till- death-do-us-part' life with them. Quite frankly, even as I'm typing it now, I'm getting the shivers. It doesn't bear thinking about! So to cap it all -Can God Lead You To Someone You Don't Love In Marriage? NO! Mba! Otio! Nyet! Nien! Ah-Ah!etc |
to all the muslims on this forum, I just want to know why violence always follows any perceived criticism(s) to Islam. Why must there be violent reactions to words spoken against Islam. I've asked this question on another thread but all I kept getting was comparisons between Islam and Christianity, and so on. While not claiming that christians are perfect, I would like to know what the peaceful muslims have to say about their fellow 'un-peaceful' brethren. So please can someone, say, Olabowale or Brownsuga, give me an answer/explanation? much obliged ![]() |
Uche2nna:
@Uche2nna, nwannem, Like I said earlier -in my own opinion What else can I say Darkman is still determined to zero me off. and with ethnicity, it's always this way;who is what, and what is who? Anyway, the wedding was my sister's, the cake is available (virtually) will send you a picture when i can figure out my scanner. the real thing, well k'anyi n'en'anya (make we dey look) And as for my keyboard, I've changed it so ![]() and @Darkmanzero, So I've tripped myself up in your own summation, so what You obviously don't suffer from such weaknesses. If I don't see her as African, I don't ! Cikena! If you see her as African, then you do!So take a chill pill! You see me as racist; good luck to you! Am glad someone sees the lighter side of all this. At the end of the day, it's all about what one thinks. You think what you think; I think what I think and that's all there is to it. So long as my 'thinking' does not include any evil intentions to the said person, then ![]() it's obvious you didn't read the first few lines of my reply to Uche2nna otherwise you would have seen the word mischief! and therefore read between the lines. But hey, like i said before you think what you think actually, I just have a smile on my face.Just curious, what is Darkmanzero? sounds like the title of an action film and no I'm not trying to be friendly, I'm just curious. The winner of this argument is the least of my worries. In Bleep DMZ, You win!!!! There, now can I be relieved of your oh-so-serious replies. The woman is there, me am here arguing about nothing. abeg!!! |
Uche2nna:
@Uche2nna, Mmmm, the plot thickens. Why? You must have thought about your own notion of Africannes? Anyway, don't mind me I have a wedding tomorrow, can't sleep and in a mischievious mood. For some reason, defining one's ethnic group/leaning, always puts me in a mischievious mood because there's usually no end to the arguments. Okay, I know, enough of the rigmarole. An African is one who can be identified as one. Just like a European is one wh o can be identified as one as well Asians. Nobody ev er mistakes S aima my co ll eag u e for an African even though part of her ancestry is Kenyan ; she's always identified as Asian but oluo na n k'an yi, people that stole from us, oppressed us and took over will begin to c laim some bogus African ancestry. How many Eng li s h people who's grandparents where in I nd i a in the past c enturies lay claim t o being Indian They don't b e cause, they know they are not.so you are African as Peter Tosh described us 'where you co me from as long as y o u 'r e a black man, yu're an African. None of those of African heritage (i.e. those with a d arker skin hue) living/having lived in the West all their lives/their ancestors lives are described as anything else. I know that these points can be shot down in one fell s woo p as to why they may not hold water but that is what this 'Lander thinks and has to contend with Ka Chineke mezie okw u please exc use the jagajaga t y pi ng . my keyboard is obviously not ha ppy at t his t opic You know what U che 2nna, I'll h ave t o c on tin ue this after the wedding. My keyboard is giving me wahala and my brain has also joined in and I doubt that I 'm making much sense. But seriously, no one eve r calls Indians or Pakistanis by any other name/description, no matte how long they've been in Africa. The Oyin b o' s over here do not identify us as one of them so i find it wh en th ey begin to claim. And another thing, how come none of these oyinob africans ever come from N aija |
Uche2nna:
@Uche2nna Me sef, I think i've lost the plot! I just disagreed with the description of Charlize Theron as an 'African' and that was it! Darkman wanted to zero me off! Anyway, long and short of it- the topic =Charlize Theron Is The Best African Actress My reply- maybe a good actress, in some people's opinion, but definitely not an African actress. That was it o! ![]() |
jaybaby:
@jaybaby, i can't remember the title but he was some kind of village warrior who fell in love with Georgina Onuoha. the film was quite interesting but the main put off was Ramsey; how can a village I will go there again, Jaybaby with all due respect. He is an excellent actor, that I do not dispute but he should dispense with this fake foreign (only God-knows-what) accent and then you will see the real Ramsey! hope that has put me in your good books! |
@ Darkman zero, Sorry to disappoint you, I wasn't being friendly at the end of my post.; I was just laughing all the way through typing it because I just knew the type of response I would get and guess what, you didn't disappoint me!I can just imagine you typing away, gnashing your teeth at my 'blasphemy', fire blazing in your eyes and smoke pouring through your nostrils, all the while muttering-'shes african, she's african, she's african, simply because I poked you where it appeared to hurt. You can take my response in what sense you will, call me racist or colourist or whatever but like Madira stated, it is amazing how someone can say that any resulting ill feeling is sour grapes. Be that as it may, you're more than entitled to your own opinion and as for 'lashing out' at me, And I'm still laughing, honest. ![]() |
@Backslider, To be honest, I find it extremely hard to follow your logic; maybe it's just the way you write. I think you should try backing up what you are saying with scriptures so it makes for an easier read. And another thing, don't assume that I don't read the Word simply because, I don't write long, rambling statements like you do. You haven't even quoted the words of Christ! All you have succeeded in doing, is trying to use your human wisdom, coupled with a few holy-sounding ideas to put your ideas forward. ![]() Don't get me wrong, I do not doubt your sincerity of heart; I just think that you would do better if you let the Word of God speak for itself/Himself; it/He is more efficacious, trust me. If you ask me, you're the one who's not getting it nor are you giving it to anybody ![]() |
Hello peeps, we r different peeps, well some want to meet their old pals while some never want to meet them again. Quote from: dakmanzero on June 02, 2006, 10:44 AM if you are racist, you have no right to complain about racism done unto you I'm glad you used the word 'if'. So what if I'm not? As such, I don't need to convince you of anything. You are racist, I am not. different points of view- we are both entitled to. I simply will not listen to you when you complain. So one minute, it is if I'm racist the next, you've made up your mind that I am. You agree that we are entitled to different points of view and yet you describe my point of view as a complaint For the record, I have not only experienced racial prejudice, I was born into a prejudiced society and grew up there. My father eventually relocated from the UK to Nigeria almost squarely on grounds of racism and the 'glass ceiling effect'. We lived in an almost exclusively white environment, considering the nature of my fathers profession at that time, and frequently came in contact with less-privileged and envious white families. It might or might not surprise you that your experience is pretty common for those whose parents studied/worked abroad especially in the 60 's-early 80's. So I don't see how that has anything to do with disagreeing with Charlize Theron's supposed 'Africaness' As such, if I can choose not to be racist despite all this, it should tell you something. Again, disagreeing with Charlize Theron's 'Africaness', is definitely not racism! It is simply disagreeing with Charlize Theron's 'Africaness'!!! My brother, where do you get off and why are you seeing my point of view through racist eyes? Perhaps your experience left you more scarred than you care to admit. Not to worry, we all have our secret/hidden traumas.Again, from my point of view, she ain't African. Cikena. Just like there ain't no Black English people. Just British!!!. Now if you still want to see that as racist, then you sure do have Take am easy bro . Life's too short She ain't African, She ain't African, and SHE AIN'T AFRICAN ![]() |
Test every spirit/ Test all things; hold fast to what is good (ref: 1Thess.5:21) ABeg make una no butcher the author of the thread. If he wants to know about MFM, just enlighten him and not begin to read meanings into his questions. What if he is interested in the church and wants to know if it's the right one for him ![]() Some people are already beginning to subtly threaten with 'ekpe' thinly disguised as scriptural injuctions. So we should just jump on the bandwagon abi? because some MFMites are here. Have you forgotten that Pastor- King something or the other who set fire to his members Perhaps if people had made enquires first, they wouldn't have fallen into such hands.Even our Lord Jesus said to His disciples that those who are NOT against him, are FOR Him. So, fellow christians, let us take care. God is more than able to fight for Himself. What of people who have cursed HIm and later repented? Abeg una take am easy. Let those who know the answer to the question, give it without, threats, curses, and all other innuendoes of doom and gloom ![]() Cheers ![]() |
Backslider:
@backslider, This is the problem with some people, you ask them a simple question and they begin to quote an epistle for you! What has all you 'preached' now got to do with why youths run away from DLBC? Okay so some don't want to hear the'Holiness' message but what of those that want to, but still leave? Has it not occured to you that Christianity is a well-rounded way of life? What about those who are 'Holy' but do not have love (and I mean the agape love) what happens to them. I left DBLC because they were most concerned about the outward man to the detriment of the inward man and your gospel seems to be doing the same. You appear to be more concerned about the way people look than who they are on the inside. Let me tell you from experience, if you are one with God on the inside, then it will automatically show on the outside, you cannot give what you don't have!!! So let's focus on why youths run away from DLBC and then and only then, might we able to find the answer(s) and then proffer solutions. Cheers ![]() |
Panache:
@Panache My fellow Nairalander, please tell them ooo! Their attempt at a pseudo-British/American/Canadian/Australian/God knows what accent is pathetic to say the least. Not just Mainframe but some and I repeat, some 'village' movies don't do too badly except for some where you see people like Ramsey Nouah speaking 'fonee' in the village!!! How annoying ![]() |
dakmanzero:
For your information, darkmanzero, skin does determine a person's heritage! Whether we like it or not! We can argue from here to kingdom but at the end of the day, if Charlize and I were to walk into a village in some far-flung European country, I would be stared at welcomed and feted. It has happened. Meanwhile both persons were 'Africans'. So Charlize Theron, best 'African' Actress I don't know about that.
alheri:
@alheri, Na u tok true bo!! Which greatest grandfather No be them tief de land If we go dem place, dem go agree say we be English . Abeg no mind these apologists bo! Anytime dem see white person, dem go begin meskaform
dakmanzero:
@darkmanzero, I take it you are either a 'colonial mentalist', or you have never experienced the abject prejudice that comes from having a darker skin colour or that you have no understanding of the history of South Africa and how the caucasians came to be living there. I don't suppose you know that the present South African government has begun to return the farmlands stolen by the white farmers (probably Charlize's g'father) back to the original owners- the INDIGENOUS South Africans. If, based on your argument, that the length of time they've lived there qualifies them to be South Africans, then why does the govt see fit to take the land and return it to the rightful owners ![]() My bros, wake up |
Backslider:
@Backslider, So after all said and done, what is the answer to the question? The issue of permed hair or no permed hair is the least of our worries as christians. You may have natural hair and still be a demon in suit!. You fell away because according to you, 'because I was not grounded'. Is this the fault DLBC or just ![]() So tell us, Why Do Youths Run Away From Deeper Life Bible Church and why specifically did you? Save the lecture of permed hair for another thread, where it will be more appropriate. Cheers ![]() |
YinkaGal:
@YinkaGal Thank you, thank you and thank you once again for posting this thread. I've been dying to do the same myself but since I'm new to NairaLand, fear no gree me but I'm glad that you've had the courage to do so. I use the word courage because you need it to confront people who bleach. It makes it worse if you don't bleach and your skin is a shade lighter than their's; then they feel you're trying to be funny about it and then they get all defensive and agressive. My sister, to answer your topic, black people or people of African heritage bleach because they've been made to feel that the lighter your skin, the finer you are and they have refused to re-educate themselves so they continue to look for means and ways to look light or even white. You want a list of famous sellouts? My sister, it's longer than my arm *Awilo Logomba *Almost all the female actors in African-American sit-coms/soaps *Eucharia Anunobi *Clarion Chukwura *Rita Dominic *Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde (hers is one leg in and one leg out) *Patti Labelle (go and look at her pictures when she was younger) The list is long, unfortunately So as you can see, my sister, they will continue because even the role models are doing it. In fact in some cases, your chances at success are based on you skin colour; sad but true. In some other cases, you are (if you allow it) judged by your skin colour. Unfortunately, we have done nothing to change such attitudes and perceptions and so it continues. Even girls as young as 16 are getting into the act. So black people who have allowed this mentality to be their guiding force, have bought into this myth and are harming themselves daily by frying their epidermis and dermis into crisp proportions; thereby turning themselves into the equivalent of 'boli' (aka roast plantain) in the process. In some cases, they remind you of meat that has gone rotten i.e. fanta face and coca-cola legs/knuckles So until there's some form of agressive re-education and information on the dangers and long-term harmful effects of bleaching, your question will continue to be asked. However, to answer your last question, Black is beautifull? is this true now ? The answer is yes!!!!! Look at *Genevieve Nnaji *Stephanie Okereke *Lauryn Hill *Kelly Rowland *Caroline Chikezie *Angela Basset *Oluchi Onwuagba *Naomi Campbell *Nike Oshinowo Fortunately, this list is also longer than my arm ; |
Psalm 20 has become the Bible passage; also Nahum 1 vs. 9. It used to be Heb.2vs 14-15 but I guess with time and circumstance, they change. |
Is there anything like spiritual attack? A resounding yes!!!. However, the word spiritual suggests that it is not open to the physical eye so if your spiritual eyes are not open(ed) there's everything possibility that you won't see it. That's not to say that everything evil that happens is a spiritual attack but trust me, in this journey to life eternal, there is no demilitarized zone; so if you're not on the Lord's side, then you're on the devil's side. With the constant battle between good and evil (sceptics, even blockbuster movies reflect this), you will be attacked, whether you see or not, and whether you believe it or not. Africans, we are more attuned to the spiritual side of things, 'specially since there's still a lot of development going on in our societies. That is not to say that the Western world does not acknowledge spirituality but not just as much as we do; I suppose that's why when we see a fly at night, it automatically is seen as a witch or something similar because ordinarily flies are not seen at night. Once again, is there anything like spiritual attack? Yep! |
Some people think it is the Spiritually immanture that walk in the freedom of christ. But that is not the case. The spiritual man knows that in christ nether circumcision or uncircumcision means anything, headties or no headties, earings or no earings; but faith which works by love. But i know there are some who are weak in faith and the mere sight of a girl i trousers will cause them to sin. There are also those who never feel the prsence of the Spirit if their hair is uncovered. My advice to you in the name of God is REMAIN THERE O! -in deper life or Assemblies of God (or where ever) so that you do not come into condemnaton for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Stay there and be taught God's Word until you become mature enough able to handle the Word of truth in the liberty of Christ. I will never forget my experience with one of the leaders of a deeper life church in Calabar. By mere contact with Him, i could experience the love of Christ and the joy of the Holy ghost which he so lavishly expressed. The man coming out of his car was bubbling with life, smiling and responding to every greeting with a happy God bless you, stopping to chat and leave a word of exhortaiton from time to time with those he met on his way to his office as i followed him. He was a lecturer and I came to meet him to borrow a projector which my group in church needed for evangelism. I felt as though i was with a member of Christ Embassy. He attended to me so warmly even though i think i was dressed in a T-shirt, combats and boots, and of course, i told him i was from Christ Embassy. We later drove out to his church where we saw some bretheren in the premises who looked at me as though i was just comming from a pub with a bottle of gin in my hands. I remember attempting to say hi to a sister who looked rather sad, down and out (as was the normal look for a 'holy' woman) as we climbed unto the front of a block of offices; oh the way she ignored me, shrinking away as though she was saying: may i never be seen in any way with with you. Well, at the end i was told that the projector was in use and boy! , was i glad to be out of the premises. That explained the difference between the babe and the Spiritually mature.

@Donnie, I totally agree with you. There should be a balance. For one thing, God looks on the heart not the appearance; on the other hand, the Bible also speaks on 'precept upon precept', 'line upon line', here a little, 'there a little' My first experience as a newly born-again christian was horrendous to say the least. it was all about what I wore, how I looked, even how I spoke. No-one cared to know how I felt and how I was coping as a babe in Christ and sadly Deeper Life was one of the churches that treated me that way. However, the bible says that JESUS is THE Way, Truth and Life and for me that is It!!! If you're determined to follow Jesus, then rules and regulations should not deter you. For me, I attributed their over-emphasis on appearance as ignorance of some. It was the least of my worries. I was more concerned about how to live the life of Christ that was why I stopped attending DL as a youth. That is not to say that I started perming my hair or wearing earrings, No. but I needed to be fed with the Word and I Just Wasn't Getting it there. The next church I started attending was more of a student's fellowship and I was even the odd one out with my 'SU' dressing but the brethren there were most interested in my growth as a child of God than the way I looked and I tell you fellow 'Landers, that was the turning point in my christian life. So as to why youths run away from DLBC, well some of us did not feel accepted even when we dressed according to their doctrine. As a youth worker now, I've learnt that all youths want is to be loved and accepted the way they are, then and only then can change be imminent. This is not casting aspersions on DLBC because they are not the only churches that are guilty of this; it's just answering the question-why youths run away from DLBC |
Sound of Music - tops The King and I Khabi Khabi (Bollywood) Live and Let Die I know the question was favourite movie, not movies but it's difficult to choose just one ![]() |
Just watched it two nights ago and just doesn't even begin to describe it. I don't usually go for the gory stuff but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, Sin City was worth all the gore My attempt at reviewing this film will surely fail so I won't even bother. (Reviewing is not exactly my forte) However, I'll give it a 5 star rating. It was goooooooooood! |
mo money:
@mo money, No sweat, no sweat at all! |
@enugu I might have missed out your questions, nevertheless, you shouldnt jump into conclusion and assume that I intentionally missed it, I was following the pattern of the thread to answer questions. Nevertheless, your question would be, sorry I couldnt find it? @Logical, precisely my point @logical,please do not answer them ,they are bunch of fools whose aim is to discredit islam, there is nothing on earth you will say that will satisfy them.We all kept quiet because we realise they have no meaningful contribution to the thread but to confuse and deceive people, and their sole mission is to discredit islam at all cost ( no matter how convince your argument might be ).silence is the best answer for fools like them. @ayinla2005 I agree, you're too 'wise' for the rest of us. So i'll leave it at that. Quid pro quo |

. Life's too short
