Career / Re: Should He Stay In Nigeria Or Move To UK? by eonyiche(m): 1:25pm On May 19, 2021
kktbm:
Good dey guys..... I was discussing with a friend of mine. He wants to move out of the country(uk) but his parents are trying to cajole him to stay ( he’s from a well to do family and they are financially capable)

His plan is after nysc he would go for masters and find his way.

He is 21 and currently serving (he’s field is IT)
But the issue is that his parent are trying to fine tune his head to stay (he’s the last born)

Their excuse is that
1) you would do menial jobs there
2) there is nothing there
3) even if you get a good job there, it’s difficult to rise as a black man
4) you will be lonely

Their main bone of contention is that there is nothing there.
Note: his dad and 4 other siblings out of 5 studied in the uk tho.

My friend doesn’t even want to stay atall, most of his friend are in the uk, he doesn’t have friends in Nigeria except a few. He doesn’t like going out because he said his mind is not in Nigeria. If you see him ehn you will know that he’s depressed. All he wants is to move to the uk.

He’s not even a badboy he doesn’t smoke, drink
He’s not a womanizer

(2 of his siblings have been in the UK SINCE early 2000’s and are already citizens)

The dad also isn’t saying he should not go, but after service, he should get a job first probably with Goverment (due to job security because his dad retired with the government) then work 2-3 years before going for his master.

His point his that he wants to go now that the funds and everything is intact. What if something should happen in future nko?

My advice for him his to leave immediately after service after all he has siblings who are in their early 40’s there to put him through and also a lot of family friends there

What would you advice

He should listen to his parents. Best and honest advice from them. If you are well traveled, you will surely understand the parents advise is the best

Travel / Re: Pls Help Me From Transit Visa Wahala Before Chinese Visa Expires in 3days Time by eonyiche(m): 1:25am On Dec 06, 2020
Deola2020:
Hello Nairalanders.....A close friend of mine was to return to Nigeria from china early this year but due to covid-19 pandemic decided to stay back a bit till everything was clear...

Fast forward to now after booking for his flight ticket which has a stopover in hongkong,he was denied boarding a plane in Shanghai cos he doesn't have an hongkong transit visa which he never knew of or told and his visa expires in 3days and getting the hongkong transit visa takes 4 weeks.....

Please experienced nairaland travellers and guys currently residing in China, please what countries can he has stop-overs or connecting flights to that doesn't require transit visa... .

Pls help urgently so he won't overstay his visa or have issues with Chinese authorities because he is operating under a low budget after expending so much to exorbitant flight tickets rates and other Chinese authorities wahala....

Please I need y'all advice before I book another flight ticket for him before 7am Shanghai time
He should use qatar airways. I had similar problems when I booked Cathay pacific airline and was prevented from boarding. I had to switch to Qatar airways and canceled my ticket in the airport. That's a good bet for him. Thank me latet
Romance / Re: Am Done With Nigerian Girls by eonyiche(m): 3:49pm On Dec 23, 2019
Bro, forget what happened and take her back. My instinct tells me you had wished somehow you were free, so you will have the opportunity to try other ladies abroad since you will be moving to Canada.

I am well traveled, overseas is overrated and doesn't seem the way many people portray it to those back home. You will understand this after you travel

I hope you don't start all over some day!

Best wishes
