Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have asked residents of Lagos to forgive the agency for maltreating them over the years.

In a video recording, some officials of the agency were filmed dancing to the rhythm of a song “ewe orijin laja, eni aba se ko firijin wa”, meaning “whoever we must have offended, please forgive us.”

At the event, the officers who were seen wearing uniform and others on casual, bowed as a sign of begging for mercy.

Some civil servants in Lagos have alleged that they were threatened that they could lose their jobs if they refused to re-elect the incumbent governor.

The federal government has said that 12,988,978 cyberattacks were recorded during the presidential and national assembly elections.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami, who disclosed this, said on elections day alone over 6.9 million attacks were recorded. 

Pantami said the attacks were successfully blocked owing to the sophisticated infrastructure on grounds by different agencies of government charged with the responsibility of protecting the nation’s cyberspace.

The Minister thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment for agencies of government to perform their assignments without let or hindrances.

He said;

“It is worth noting that in the run-up to the 2023 general elections, threat intelligence revealed an astronomical increase in cyber threats to Nigerian cyberspace.

“Generally, threats to public websites and portals averaged around 1,550,000 daily. However, this skyrocketed to 6,997,277 on presidential election day.

“During this period, a series of hacking attempts were recorded, including Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), email and IPS attacks, SSH login attempts, brute force Injection attempts, Ppth traversal, detection evasion, and forceful browsing.

“A total of 12,988,978 attacks were recorded, originating from both within and outside Nigeria. It is worth noting that the centres successfully blocked these attacks and/or escalated them to the relevant institutions for appropriate action.”

A woman has been sentenced to eight and a half years in jail after she injured herself with a hammer to falsely claim she had been r@ped by a gang.


She was previously found guilty on eight counts of doing acts tending and intended to pervert the course of justice after she accused five men of rape, leading to one being jailed and leaving others' lives in tatters.

Williams was 16 when she made the first false claim she had been r@ped at a party in Barrow. She later claimed she had been r@ped after a night out at Manhattans nightclub, where she worked, and again at her flat by the same man.

She went on to say she had been groomed from the age of 12, forced to attend sex parties across the north of England and taken to Ibiza where the abuse continued. She said she had been sold as a slave at an auction in Amsterdam while on holiday with her sister.

Williams had published pictures of her injuries and an account of being groomed, trafficked and beaten, on Facebook in May 2020, in a post which was shared more than 100,000 times.

It sparked demonstrations in her hometown and led to English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson visiting the town to “investigate” the claims.

In a letter to judges, Williams apologised for "some mistakes" and said she was "young and confused".

She wrote: "I know I have made some mistakes and I am sorry but I was young and confused. When I wrote the Facebook post I never intended causing issues in the community. I am devastated at the consequences it has had on Barrow. I was discharged from hospital that morning and was in a bad way....I wasn't thinking straight.

"Me and my family publicly stated we didn't want Tommy Robinson in the town as I do not agree with his views and know the damage he has caused."

Some of the falsely accused men gave statements ahead of her sentencing, opening up about the impact the accusations had on their lives.

Jordan Trengove, who was arrested three times on false allegations, said: "We had the word 'r@pist' sprayed on the house...

The Nigeria Labour Congress has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the federal government to address current fuel and naira scarcity in the country.

Joe Ajaero, President of the NLC, disclosed this while briefing journalists today, March 13, at Labour House on the outcome of a meeting convened by the Central Working Committee of the congress.

The labour union threatened to go on strike if the issue was not resolved at the expiration of the ultimatum.

Ajaero warned FG on the expiration of the seven days, workers would be directed to stay away from work if nothing was done to ease the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

He said: “On this issue of fuel scarcity and cash crunch, the Congress wishes to inform the Federal Government that we will no longer keep quiet.

“The NLC is giving the Central Bank of Nigeria and the FG seven working days, if they fail to do the needful at the expiration of the seven days, all workers in Nigeria should stay at home.”

A Nigerian passenger onboard a Delhi-Doha IndiGo flight d!ed after a medical emergency, even as the airline made an emergency landing at Karachi International Airport in Pakistan to save him. 
 
The airline, in a statement on Monday, March 13, 2023, informed that the 60-year-old Nigerian passenger identified as Abdullah Aaldamu Audu, had fallen ill, forcing the crew of flight 6E-1736 to make a quick call to drop anchor in the southern Pakistani city. 
 
The captain of the aircraft contacted the Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) and conveyed the situation whilst seeking permission for the landing.
 
However, upon landing in Karachi, the airport medical team declared the man d€ad. 
 
A Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson in Pakistan confirmed the incident and said the passenger's health had worsened mid-flight.
 
Meanwhile, IndiGo released a statement and offered condolences to the family of the deceased. 
 
"Flight 6E-1736, operating from Delhi to Doha was diverted to Karachi due to a medical emergency on board. Unfortunately, on arrival, the passenger was declared dead by the airport medical team," read the statement released. 
 
"We are deeply saddened by the news and our prayers and wishes are with his family and loved ones. We're currently making arrangements for transferring the other passengers of the flight, in coordination with the relevant authorities," it added. 
 
After confirmation of Abdullah's death, the body was flown back to Delhi. A death certificate has also been issued. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to launch an investigation and assess if any foul play was involved. 
 
The passenger's health history will be looked after before arriving at any final decision.

Popular South African Amapiano artist, Costa Titch has sadly passed away after collapsing on stage.

The 27-year-old reportedly had a seizure and collapsed on stage while performing at the Ultra music concert at Expo Centre in Nasrec, Johannesburg today Saturday, March 11th.

Costa had shared a poster on his IG page advertising the event Just 11 hours ago.

Costa entered the entertainment industry as a dancer, but over time he transformed and became a rapper/singer.

He recently got signed to Akon's music label. Too sad!

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has described the presidential candidate of the Labour Party- Peter Obi

as the hero of the 2023 presidential election. Governor Wike said the decision of Peter Obi to contest the presidential election under the platform of the Labour Party, primarily prevented the north from retaining power after the end of President Muhammadu Buhari's tenure.

The Rivers State governor said this during an interactive meeting with the Technical Dealers Association of Nigeria, Computer Dealers Association, Garrison Phone Dealers Association and Building Materials Traders Association in Port Harcourt on Saturday, March 11.

Governor Wike explained that contrary to insinuation that he did not support Peter Obi, what most people failed to realize is that the Labour Party presidential candidate remains his hero of the election.

"Obi is my hero. If Obi did not contest, power would have gone back to the North. The whole of South -South and South-East that PDP lost, if Obi did not contest PDP would have won.

The hero is this election is Obi whether you like it or not. I am not here to please you, Obi is the hero. He may not have been pronounced as the winner, no problem, the law will take its course. If Obi did not run this election, power would have remained in the North. Whether he declared a winner now or not, history will be on his side that he fought and fought well."

The Rivers State governor said the reason why he did not publicly declare support for any presidential candidate was because the PDP G-5 governors had unanimously agreed to ensure the emergence of a president from southern Nigeria to succeed President Buhari. Governor Wike, said while members of the G-5 governors assiduously worked for power to return to the South, the likes of former Rivers State governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, who is now soliciting for Igbo to support APC candidate, Tonye Cole, mobilised votes for Atiku Abubakar.

"If Amaechi loves the Igbos, why did he not support Obi? Instead, he supported Atiku."

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangements to postpone the governorship and state house of assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, March 11.

Sources that spoke with Daily Trust on the issue said the electoral body has rescheduled the polls to March 18, 2023.

The sources claimed that the election was postponed due to INEC’s inability to commence the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used for the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, to enable their use for the state elections.

Sources disclosed that INEC in a meeting currently going on is considering shifting it to either March 18 or March 25 for the elections.

It was however learnt that March 18 was chosen.

One of the officials said, “You know that the BVAS re-configuration would take three or four days and since they would all be moved to the headquarters in Abuja, the machines would be re-configured and deployed to the various states and finally to the polling units.”

This is coming hours after the Tribunal Court on Wednesday permitted INEC to reconfigure the BVAS for the forthcoming election.

The Court gave the ruling after the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi asked the court to hinder INEC from reconfiguring the BVAS

According to Daily Trust, Janjala community had for the past few months suffered several attacks by bandits who abducted residents at gun point.
 
A resident, Dauda Bala, who confirmed the latest abductions to the publication on Sunday, March 5, gave the names of the abducted woman as Mrs Hauwa Ummi Abubakar, and the children as Sadiya and Idris.

The Madaki of Janjala, Samaila Babangida, who also confirmed the latest abductions, said nine among the victims escaped from their abductors. 
Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, is yet to react to the latest abduction.

Meanwhile, a woman who was kidnapped by bandits in Sabon Iche community, Kagarko LGA, has been found d€ad.

The d€ceased woman, said to be the wife of one Dr. Clement, was abducted alongside her daughter and daughter-in-law late on February 9, 2023. 
 According to sources, her son, Mr. Gideon a.k.a Major blinks, confirmed that she was k!lled by the bandits and her body has been recovered.

The incident happened in Ezi-Ogwugwu, Otolo-Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, March 2, 2023. 

It was gathered that the couple got married last year August and Ebere nee Uzuegbunam, was a few months pregnant before the unfortunate incident happened. 

The suspect admitted to the crime after he was summoned by his in-laws, in Obiuno community in Otolo Nnewi, to explain what led to the d£ath of their daughter. 

“I returned home in the morning of March 2, 2023, and was knocking at the gate, but my wife did not open the gate immediately. In that anger, I started shouting at her. I first slapped and hit her from the gate to the house before angrily grabbing her by the neck and strangling her,” the suspect said. 

“I couldn’t believe what happened because I never expected that such actions would lead to her d£ath. I eventually abandoned the corpse and left out of fear and confusion, after confiding in a few persons who I sought advice on what to do. It was later in the evening that my mother reached out to my wife’s family member.”

Meanwhile, a source close to the family, who spoke to the Punch on Monday, March 6, said the couple had been involved in domestic violence which had been unknown to the wife’s family members.

“Around 7pm on Thursday, March 2, 2023, the deceased family received a call from the husband’s mother, informing them that their daughter had just slumped and appeared to be d£ad,” the source narrated. 

"As soon as they made their way to their in-law’s residence at Ezi-Ogwugwu, they were informed that their daughter had been rushed to the Nnewi Diocesan Hospital at Akwudo.

“At the hospital, the doctor on duty informed them that their daughter was d£ad after a medical check. The deceased family members had to take the body to another hospital, St. Felix Okolo Hospital, Nnewi, where the doctor also confirmed her d£ad before she was eventually deposited at the morgue."

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has said that the movie industry is not a place for young girls and urge producers to discourage the act of employing minors.

Daniels, who also doubles as a film producer, gave the advice on her Instagram page on Monday where she advised celebrities, and movie producers, to say no to child labour and keep the industry secure.

She said, "I met a 14-year-old girl wearing a short skirt, crop top and working under another young guy on the movie set who claims to be a make-up artist. Her parents are far away in Port Harcourt and she came to Lagos last year.

She sleeps in different hotel rooms with whoever agrees to accommodate her every night and is not willing to go back to her parents. This girl told me that she is here to learn but trust me, I know the industry and it is not a safe place for young girls.”

According to Punch, the Plateau State Police Command will hold an orderly room trial for the officer on Monday, March 6, 2023 Damak is being detained at a police facility in Jos, the state capital.
 
It was gathered that the officer shot Badapba, a resident of Tudun Wada community, Jos North LGA on Sunday, March 5, during an argument between them over the two governorship flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP). 
 
During the argument, the police officer who happens to be a Mupun man castigated Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC candidate, saying he will not win the election because he haS nothing to offer.
 
Badapba, the victim, tried to defend the governorship candidate, saying that he is widely accepted by Plateau people and will win the forthcoming election. 
 
The development led to a minor argument between them before eyewitnesses admonished the victim and advised him to go home. 
 
According to the publication, Badapba left the place but unknown to him, the police officer followed him. He was close to his house when Damak allegedly shot him on his shoulder. 
 
The victim is said to be receiving treatment in Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jankwanno. 
 
Spokesperson of the command, SP Alabo Alfred, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday March 6, described the action of the police officer as unprofessional.
 
“The Plateau State Police Command condemns in strong terms the shooting of an unsuspecting civilian, Mr. Nyommena Salah Badapba ‘m’ of Tudun Wada, Jos by an obdurate personnel of the Command, Inspr Solomon Damak,” the statement read.
 
"The circumstance that led to the infliction of the gun injury by the recalcitrant officer does not fit into his professional calling but was done out of vindictiveness which contradicts the attributes of a Nigerian Police officer"

Recall that the ex-US military officer outlined what he would do if Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi won the election.

The All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Tinubu won the Nigerian presidential election on February 25, 2023, and the results were announced on March 1.

If Obi won the election, Pere had promised to return his US passport to the US government.

He also vowed to join the Nigerian army and impart some military techniques he had learned while serving in the US military.

Pere tweeted;
“If Peter Obi wins today, I would gladly return my U.S passport and then get involved with the Nigerian military, teach em a few things here and there.”

However, following the announcement of Tinubu as president-elect, the reality TV star informed fans he would no longer be leaving US for Nigeria.

“All plans to relocate back to Nigeria, ABORTED! Una good luck o.” he wrote.

Unidentified Gunmen left a threatening note aimed at football star, Lionel Messi, after attacking a supermarket in his home town of Rosario in Argentina in the early hours of Thursday, March 2.

Reports emanating from Argentina say 14 shots were fired at the doors of food store “Unico” in Rosario before two suspects fled the scene on a motorbike.

The store belongs to the family of Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who also grew up in Rosario.

Nobody was injured in the attack, which caused significant damage to the shop.

But a piece of cardboard was left at the scene with the message: “Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug dealer. He is not going to look after you.”

Pablo Javkin is the mayor of Rosario.

After Thursday’s attack, Javkin called for more resources to be given to Rosario to help protect and serve its residents.

“Rosario is 300km [from Buenos Aires], it is near. We want to get all the resources against crime that Argentina has to take care of us, to protect this city that gives the country glory and science, countryside and art, federalism and union.”

Messi and his wife were both in Paris when the incident happened. None of them have commented on the attack as at press time.

The 35-year-old was named as The Best FIFA Men’s Player at an awards ceremony in Paris on Monday.

In 2022, he led Argentina to their third World Cup title after beating France in the final.

American journalist and co-founder of BreakingTheLine, Zach Lowy, has urged Folarin Balogun to snub Nigeria and France to play for the US.

The 21-year-old, whose parents are from Nigeria, was born in New York City and emigrated to England when he was only two years old. He is eligible to represent Nigeria, the United States, and England.

Balogun has represented both England and the United States at the youth levels but is yet to make his senior appearance for any, meaning he is still eligible to play for the three times African champions.

With several calls for the forward to represent the Super Eagles, Lowy believes the youngster doesn’t stand a chance of playing regularly for Nigeria and should instead play for England.

“Folarin Balogun would be wise to choose the USA over England and Nigeria,” he wrote on Twitter.

“It’s highly unlikely that he’s going to be overtaking Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen anytime soon and it’s clear that he’s a massive upgrade over any of the USMNT’s current options at centre forward.

“With that being said, I’d expect Balogun’s scintillating form in Ligue 1 will make him believe he has what it takes to challenge for a spot in the England team ahead of Ivan Toney, Callum Wilson, Tammy Abraham or Ollie Watkins. A High Court sitting in Lagos has granted leave to Labour Party and 41 others to apply for Judicial Review and Mandamus Orders compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to directly and electronically upload results from the polling units in the state to the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV) for the governorship and house of assembly election.

Labour Party and the other applicants in the case including its Lagos governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, had approached the court via a motion ex parte to compel INEC to comply with Clause 37 and 38 of the Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections 2022 on electronic transmission of results and Section 27 of the Electoral Act on distribution of election materials.

They sought declarations preventing INEC from engaging persons who are partisans from distributing election materials as well as an order compelling the electoral body to adhere to the guidelines on the conduct of elections.

Justice Peter Lifu who presided over the case, also restrained INEC from engaging the services of individuals or companies who are members of any political party in the distribution of electoral materials.

Lifu said;

“That leave is hereby granted to the applicant to apply for an order of mandamus compelling the defendant and all its agents and/or their privies or any persons acting under their directions to comply with and enforce the provision of clause 38 of the REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS, 2022, for the conduct of the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State on 11 March 2023 to wit: mandating the presiding officer of all polling units to electronically transmit or transfer the result of the polling units, direct to the collation system and use the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to upload a scanned copy of the EC8A to INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) immediately after the completion of all the Polling Units voting and results procedures.

Nigerians have taken to social media to call out Afrobeats star over what is perceived to be an attack on the Obidient movement.

The music star apparently liked a video posted by activist, Deji Adeyanju alleging that Labour Party also participated in rigging the election.

Adeyanju had shared a video over the weekend showing some persons altering results on ballot papers and he claimed that they are rigging like APC and PDP.

A check on Davido’s Twitter account showed that he liked the tweet, and this provoked his fans many of whom are members of the Obidient movement.

The fact that he had never hidden his support for the Peoples Democratic Party in the past also made his action even more suspicious to those who dragged him.

However, after coming under fire, Davido had seemingly unliked the tweet but trolls already took screenshots.

A tweep known as @itzbasito expressed surprise because he thought the DMW boss had stayed off social media since last year.

“Thought they said Davido is offline?” he wrote.

Paris Saint-Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi has been indicted on rape charges, French prosecutors announced on Friday.[i][/i]

The prosecutor's office in the Paris suburb of Nanterre said Hakimi was questioned on Thursday by investigators probing rape allegations. He was then indicted by an investigating judge and placed under judicial supervision.

The Morocco national team player is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, a 24-year-old woman who says she was raped by Hakimi on Saturday at his home in a Paris suburb. Hakimi is allowed to leave French territory, prosecutors said.

According to his lawyer, Fanny Colin, Hakimi, 24, "firmly denies all the accusations against him" and welcomes the investigation because "he finally has the possibility to defend himself".

"The club supports the player, who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts the justice system," PSG said in a statement on Thursday.

"Paris St-Germain is an institution that promotes respect on and off the pitch."

The 24-year-old woman accused the Moroccan international of raping her at his home in a Paris suburb on February 25 after he allegedly invited a woman to his home while his wife and kids were on holiday.

According to Le Parisien, the 24-year-old defender began talking to the woman on January 16 on Instagram. He allegedly then invited her to his home in Boulogne on Saturday, reportedly ordering her an Uber to transport her.

The Spanish-born Hakimi is a defender who helped Morocco make World Cup history last year by becoming the first African team to reach the tournament's semi-finals. He was seen training with PSG on Friday.

Hakimi appeared on stage at the FIFA Awards in Paris on Monday. He was honoured as part of the player-voted men's all-star team.

Popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has lampooned a critic who called out his political apathy during the 2023 general election.

The critic had berated him after he explained that he was not vocal about the election because he does not believe in any of the three major candidates.

Burna Boy also stated that he didn’t publicly campaign for any candidate because he doesn’t want to be held accountable if the candidate fails in office.

Apparently, the critic was extremely disappointed in the self-styled ‘Odogwu’ for his political stance, and chided him for being mute about an important event in Nigeria despite making profit from his activism songs.

According to the critic, Burna Boy’s brand does not match his actions in real life because he has never spoken up for the people.

Responding, Burna Body slid into the critic’s DM to lambaste him for attacking him. He stated that the the songs he made about Nigeria have not been profitable to him.

The Grammy award winner also claimed that he has positively contributed more to Nigeria than the 3 presidential candidates so he has every right to shut his critics up.

Burna wrote,

“Why una mumu like this? First of all sir. Out of the hundreds of songs I have, there are only about 7 songs about these topics and they barely made me any money at all. #2. l’ve positively contributed more to Nigeria than you and all 3 candidates combined and neither me nor my parents have ever taken a kobo from the government for any reason. so I’m more than qualified to tell people like you to shut the Bleep up when vou don’t know what your talking about.”
