A man from Kwara State, Sheshi Daudu Maza, in a viral post on Monday celebrates his two wives who delivered their babies within a few hours interval.

The first wife, Hussaina, delivered a baby girl on Thursday, while the second wife, Maryam, gave birth to another baby girl hours later.

Sheshi shared the news of both deliveries on his Facebook page.

He wrote, "God’s blessing may come as a surprise, and how much u receive, depends on how much, ur heart can believe. My first wife Hussaina has given birth to a bouncy baby girl both mother and the child are well."

Announcing the birth of his second daughter, he wrote, "Fly in the plane of Ambition & Land in the Airport of Success. God has blessed us with another baby girl again, my second wife Maryam just put to birth, and both mother and the child are medically sound and ok.”

Nigerian chef, food blogger and restauranteur, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has revealed that her mother foresaw the confirmation of her cooking record this week.

She made this revelation shortly after being declared the world record holder for the longest cooking time by an individual by Guinness World Record.

Recall that the awarding body, in a statement on its website on Tuesday, announced that the 26-year-old restaurateur successfully broke the record with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.” The statement was read in part.

In a surprising new revelation, the famous chef has disclosed that her mother predicted that her cooking record would be confirmed before tomorrow morning.

She shared a screenshot of her conversation with her mother, who confidently predicted that she would be congratulated before Wednesday.

Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has joined the current craze to break a Guinness World Record with his plan to set a new praying record.

He took to his Instagram page to announce his plan on Sunday, May 11. According to him, he wants to embark on a mission to pray for 5000 hours continuously to break the World Record for the longest praying time.

The 33-year-old comedian shared a flyer showing the details of the 208 days pray-a-thon with the caption,

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has raised an alarm of ponmo now being dangerous for Nigerians to consume following the outbreak of Anthrax in some neighbouring countries within the West African sub-region.

Nigerians have been asked to desist from the consumption of hides (ponmo), smoked meat and bush meat as they pose serious risk until the situation is brought under control.

The anthrax outbreak was first recorded in northern Ghana bordering Burkina Faso and Togo putting the whole sub-region at risk.

The statement read;

“The disease which has claimed some lives, is a bacterial disease that affects both animals and man, that is a zoonotic disease. Anthrax spores are naturally found in the soil and commonly affect domestic and wild animals.

“People can get infected with Anthrax spores if they come in contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products. However, Anthrax is not a contagious disease and so, one cannot get it by coming in close contact with an infected person.“Signs of anthrax are flu- like symptoms such as cough, fever, muscle aches and if not diagnosed and treated early, lead to pneumonia, severe lung problems, difficulty in breathing, shock and death."

Nigerians have also been warned against closeness to non-vaccinated animals with Anthrax as it can easily be transmitted to man through the inhalation of Anthrax spores including consumption of contaminated/Infected animal products, such as hides and skin, meat or milk.

June 12: Those who cannot endure and accept the pain of defeat in elections do not deserve the joy of victory - Tinubu addresses the nation



President Bola Tinubu on Monday, June 12, gave a speech to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the June 12, 1993 presidential poll.

Tinubu who urged Nigerians to sacrifice a little more for the survival of the country, stated that Nigerians must never take democracy for granted as Chief MKO Abiola who won the election sacrificed his life for it.

On the conduct of the 2023 election, Tinubu said those who cannot endure and accept the pain of defeat in elections do not deserve the joy of victory when it is their turn to triumph.

“We have traversed the dark, thorny path of dictatorship before and those who experienced it can readily testify to the unbridgeable gap between the dignity of freedom and the humiliation and degradation of tyranny. True, rancorous debates, interminable wrangling, ceaseless quarrels, bitter electoral contestations may be perceived by some as unattractive features of democracy. But they also testify to its merit and value.

“This year, we held the seventh in the cycle of elections that have become sacred rituals of our democratic practice in this dispensation since 1999.

“That the polls were intensely contested is in itself positive evidence that democracy is well and alive in our land. It is only natural that even as those who won and experienced victory in the various elections are elated and fulfilled, those who lost are disenchanted and disappointed. But the beauty of democracy is that those who win today can lose tomorrow and those who lose today will have an opportunity to compete and win in the next round of elections.

“Those who cannot endure and accept the pain of defeat in elections do not deserve the joy of victory when it is their turn to triumph. Above all, those who disagree with the outcome of the elections are taking full advantage of the constitutional provisions to seek redress in court and that is one of the reasons why democracy is still the best form of government invented by man.”

Ohanese Ndi Igbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has condemned the suspension of the the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, describing the action by President Bola Tinubu as a sign of ethnic cleansing. Leadership newspaper reports that the group shared this opinion in a statement released by its Director of National Interest Matters, Mazi Chima Uzor.

According to the group, Emefiele’s suspension did not follow due process while alleging that the decision was part of the current administration’s deliberate efforts aimed at alienating the Igbos from public offices.

The statement reads

“The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide hereby condemns in its entirety the suspension of Dr Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor by the administration of President Bola Tinubu. To say the least, this suspension is without due process and the arrest despite court order against DSS from arresting him is provocative and well-meaning Nigerians must resist it and ensure that it does not stand.

We view the development as clearly part of the new administration’s scheme of ethnic cleansing of the Igbos from public offices. This is nothing but a witch hunting directed at the Igbos for no other reason other than they dared to oppose the new administration in the last general elections.

We are therefore asking President Bola Tinubu to beware of starting his administration with actions capable of driving an already shaking nation into chaos.

He should be humble enough to rescind this unpopular decision and allow Dr Emefiele to complete his term as the governor of the apex bank instead of rocking the boat and destroying all the reforms that were carried out by the CBN under Emefiele’s leadership.”

President Bola Tinubu has suspended Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor.

A statement released by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, says the suspension is following an ongoing investigation into his office.

The statement reads

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect,

This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reform”

Kano court sentences woman to 3 month in prison for Calling her friend a prostitute

A Kano State Sharia court has sentenced one Habiba to three months in prison calling her friend, Rukayya Muhammad, a prostitute.
 
Habiba was arraigned before the court by the police for calling and addressing her friend as “sharmota”, which means prostitute, on her WhatsApp status.
 
She sent the same message to their friend who is residing in Saudi Arabia.

 
When the charges were read against her, she pleaded guilty. 
 
The Judge, Mallam Sani Tanimu Sani Hausawa, found Habiba guilty of the offence, sentenced her to three months in prison with an option of N40,000 fine.
 
The judge also ordered her to go to the same platform, WhatsApp, add their friend in Saudi Arabia and tell them that she was lying, begging for the defendant’s forgiveness.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, June 12, 2023 Public Holiday in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day celebration. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement she released today June 8.

While congratulating Nigerians on this occasion, Akinlade said

"Nigeria’s democratic journey has, like in many other climes, encountered both stormy and smooth sails, but the ship of State, its institutions and most importantly, the Nigerian people have remained steadfast on the tenets of democratic governance. On this memorable occasion therefore, Nigerians and friends of Nigeria are invited to appreciate the progress that has been made, celebrate the milestones covered and look forward to a better future for the country's democracy."

The Canadian government has announced visa-free travel for visitors from 13 different countries across Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

In a statement released, Sean Fraser, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship said the visa-free travel is extended to Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts-Nevis, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Morocco, Seychelles, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand and the Philippines.

While north Africa’s Morocco and east Africa’s Seychelles joined the list, Nigeria the most populous African nation didn’t make the cut.

“An expansion of the electronic travel authorization better known as the eTA programs makes it easier for “known travellers” from those countries to come here for fun and business,” the statement reads

He said the expansion not only enhances convenience for travellers, it will also increase travel, tourism and economic benefits, as well as strengthen global bonds with these 13 countries.


“The known travellers from these countries can save a lot of money as a result of the visa exemptions.” the statement reads

A visitor visa currently costs $100 per person and $500 for a family of five or more, but an eTA only costs seven dollars per person and is valid for as long as five years.

Japanese students attend N25,000 smiling lessons after years of wearing Covid masks


Students in Japan have been undergoing 'smile education' to relearn their social cues after years of wearing masks against Covid.

Keiko Kawano's company, Egaoiku, has seen a more than four-fold jump in demand for smile instruction since last year, according to Mail Online.

A one-hour-long session costs 7,700 yen (N25,000), and customers range from companies investing in salespeople to local governments supporting residents' well-being.

Himawari Yoshida, 20, one of the students taking the class as part of her school's courses to prepare them for the job market, says she needed to work on her smile.

'I hadn't used my facial muscles much during COVID so it's good exercise,' she said.

Before the pandemic, wearing a mask in Japan was normal for many during hay fever season and around exams due to concern about getting ill for a key life event.

A poll by public broadcaster NHK in May showed 55% of Japanese saying they were wearing them just as often as two months earlier. Only 8% said they had stopped wearing masks altogether.

Roughly a quarter of the art school students who took the smiling class on May 30 kept their masks on during the lesson.

Kawano said that young people have, perhaps, become used to life with masks.

She noted that women might find it easier to go out without makeup and men could hide that they had not shaved.

The former radio host who started giving lessons in 2017 has also trained 23 others as smiling coaches to spread the virtues and technique of crafting the perfect smile around Japan.

Her trademarked 'Hollywood Style Smiling Technique' method comprises 'crescent eyes', 'round cheeks' and shaping the edges of the mouth to bare eight pearly whites in the upper row.

Kiddwaya, the former Big Brother Naija reality star, recently shared a surprising story about an incident involving a domestic staff member at his family’s home.

He expressed his admiration for the staff member who had stolen millions of Naira from his billionaire father, Terry Waya.

According to Kiddwaya, the cleaner, who happened to be from his home state of Benue, stole a significant amount of money from their residence in Abuja and used it to construct his own house in Benue.

The reality star found it impressive that the cleaner had wisely invested the stolen funds.

During an Instagram live session with fans, Kiddwaya recounted the incident, saying:

“I have got this cleaner in my house in Nigeria; Abuja. He is from Benue State because I like to hire people from my home state.

“So, as my dad was travelling. Obviously, we keep cash in our house. He [my dad] realised some dollars were missing. Only for us to find out that it was this guy from my own state that has been stealing for about a year little by little.

“The guy stole enough money to build a house in his state. Now, two things, I’m slightly impressed that he actually invested the money into something that is going to benefit him and his family. For that reason I’m not upset.”

However, Kiddwaya expressed his disappointment that the individual who had been stealing from them turned out to be a fellow Tiv from Benue State.

Newly out of jail singer, Seun Kuti, has revealed how Tunde Ednut can’t dare to hate him.


According to the youngest son of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, he paid Ednut for 10 blog posts, but Tunde has only carried out one.

He said he heard a lot of people saying the musician turned blogger hates him when he got out of jail, and Seun has now summarized why the hate exists.

According to the singer, it is simply because Ednut is owing him for the rest of the posts he is yet to carry out.

The immediate former Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of money laundering. 

Sources privy to the development confirmed to  Punch that Tallen was quizzed by operatives of the EFCC at its Zonal Headquarters, in Wuse, Abuja.

Though details of the allegations against the ex-minister were sketchy, a source familiar with the case told the publication that it bordered on corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2billion

"The ex-minister arrived at our Abuja Zonal Command (not the headquarters), on invitation, at  about 12 pm, but she’s still being grilled by investigators of the commission as at 8:30 pm.

"She’s being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds and corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2billion, and part of the money was allegedly diverted from the African First Lady Peace Mission Project.”

Two new female tenants abduct neighbour's four children in imo Community a day after moving in


Four children have been abducted in Amako community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. 

The children identified as Jemine Divine, 4, Jemine Isaiah, 2, Ugwuegbu Victor, 2, and Ugwuegbu Success, 4, were abducted by two new female tenants on Saturday, 27 May, 2023. 

A source in the community said the children were playing at their house in Amako alongside other minors when the women, who had moved in on Friday, May 26, told the kids to follow them to a barbing salon to cut their hair. 

The women took the children away and never returned. 

Two of the four abducted children belong to one Mrs. Chinasa while the other two are her elder sister’s children. 

The mother of the kids on returning from the market searched for her children but couldn't find them. She immediately went to the police station to make a report.

She said that the women moved into the room on Friday, May 26, 2023 and she doesn't know their names. 

Meanwhile, an indigene of Amako community who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the Nigerian Tribune that the local vigilante group had arrested the house agent who brought the women as well as the landlord but they claimed not to know the whereabouts of the women. 

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident on Friday, June 2, said investigation is ongoing.

A former deputy National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has said he will gladly work with the  administration of President Bola Tinubu if invited to contribute his quota to nation-building.
 
George stated this responding to questions from to questions from journalists who converged in his office in Ikoyi. According to him, he has no personal issues with the president. 
 
In March 2022, George said he will go on exile if Tinubu wins the 2023 Presidential election. However, when the politician was recently asked whether he would agree to serve the country if appointed by the current administration, he said;
 

‘’My reaction, like I have said, there is nothing personal. Look, I trained in the military. You know in the military whoever is in the trench next to you is your brother. When you go out to say what is our mission in the military? It is to defend our country. If he comes and says look, what do you feel about this, what do you feel about that, let’s work together in the interest of this country, why would I refuse? This nation also trained me.

President Bola Tinubu met with the service chiefs at the State House in Abuja on June 1. This will be his first meeting with the security chiefs since he assumed office on May 29.

In attendance at the meeting were the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba. Others include the Director-General of the Department of State Service(DSS), Yusuf Bichi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

At the meeting, President Tinubu said all security agencies must be on the same page and operate with synergy and also read the riot act to the security chiefs . The President also added that the national security has to be coordinated and that he will not accept anything contrary.

Speaking to statehouse correspondents after the meeting, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Mongonu, said

“All agencies must work to achieve one single purpose. Working at cross purposes and colliding with each other is not something that he will condone,” the NSA said.

“He has made it very, very clear that all the security agencies must comply with the demands of coordination, with the demands of frequent consultations and also timely reports which must be acted on.”

In his inaugural speech at the Eagle Square on Monday, President Tinubu promised to prioritize security, amongst other pressing areas.

‘’We shall defend the nation from terror and all forms of criminality that threaten the peace and stability of our country and our sub-region. Security shall be the top priority of our administration because neither prosperity nor justice can prevail amidst insecurity and violence. To effectively tackle this menace, we shall reform both our security doctrine and its architecture.

We shall invest more in our security personnel, and this means more than an increase in number. We shall provide, better training, equipment, pay, and firepower'' he said

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has dismissed rumors that it is planning to embark on a strike today June 2 over the removal of petrol subsidy. There have been rumors that the NLC had fixed Friday to commence a strike in protest against the subsidy removal.

Reacting to the rumor, the head of information and public affairs of NLC, Benson Upah, asked Nigerians to disregard the rumor.

“Our attention has been drawn to stories circulating in the social media claiming that the NLC would begin protest action on June 2 against the increase in the pump price of petrol. In as much as we are outraged by this mindless price increase which is intended to bring untold hardship to Nigerians, we have no plan to start any action on June 2. What we do have for now are organ meetings slated for June 2 to deliberate on the price issue.”he said

Upah said the NLC would keep Nigerians informed on its next line of action after its meetings.
