Even when Manchester United had all the money in the world to buy the very best players the man only randomly pick one or two to blend into his team structure. He maintained their culture of academy players maturing into the team and blended with established stars bought at intervals. He focused on the local league (EPL) as Liverpool were the established champions for a long time.

It was during the latter years (after dominating the EPL) that he started paying more attention to the Champions League.

Ferguson won 2 Champions Leagues out of just 4 finals.
