Prologue
“Please, don’t kill me”, Abel pleaded with the axe-master who was leading him to the slaughter slab to chop off his head as he was commanded. His eyes blindfolded, hands tied, legs wobbling. The people pf Nephreden watched keenly as the lamb was taken to the slaughter slab. The gods had answered their prayers- Kok, Mok and Gok, the three powerful gods of Nephreden whom they make human sacrifices to yearly for protection from the marauding enemies of the north tribesmen- the Deserters.
The gods have spoken through the Sacred owl to remind them of their annual dues which was long overdue because, the people of Nephreden had no stranger in their midst towards the time of the Sacrifice and as it is their custom. They are not to cajole, kidnap nor force any stranger to stay or be imprisoned for that purpose. This is to avoid the blame curse which would be invoked if they do otherwise because the Trion (the gods- Kok, Mok, Gok) is fair in justice. So, any stranger who comes in to the land of Nephreden within the period stipulated fit deem fit as the sacrificial lamb and would be taken captive.
Hearing faint voices over his head, he could not hear them coherently as his eyes were blurred from the sudden light that penetrated his eyes. Abel opened his eyes to see three half naked ladies hovering over him and as soon as the ladies were aware of him being conscious; they ran towards the lonely path leading to the village. He tried beckoning to them but he couldn’t due to the severe weakness he was experiencing and more so, he was dehydrated. He raised his head and sat down on the sand where the ocean threw him and tried to recall how he got where he is. He recalled, he was in a ship leaving for the City of Precious-Stones when he was noticed to be a fugitive trying to escape Beryland where he committed a heinous crime- he laid with the wife of the Pontus. As soon as he was noticed by one of the ship-men, the security was unto him. He knew the implication of being caught and taken back to Beryland (he would be cut by piece every 24 hours). He headed for the nearest deck window and tolum as he dived into the massive blue water-body.

He got so full of him self that, he left the ministry where he was being groomed to start his own. Here, he derailed further and went deep into treacheous acts and just gave in to it at a point. The story is a reflection of what is obtainable in our society today. The vile, whoremongerish wolfs in sheep clothings. But then, it brings to bare our own human nature. The corruptiblity and unyieldiness to discipline and supposed moral code irrespective of one's religious leaning. Watch out.
