Foreign Affairs / Re: UK Votes To Leave The European Union by estcood: 1:15pm On Jun 24, 2016

True. lived in the UK in those years that EU migrants flooded the tiny island from poorer EU countries. They basically took all jobs that no one else would do. i saw africans and asians losing their survival jobs to EU nationals despite the fact that most of them couldn't speak a word in english, but they had an advantage cos they needed no work visa.

i watched as universities stopped funding non-EU nationals for msc and phd courses as they had enough applications from EU nationals. Jobs were exported to poorer EU nations cos of cheap labour, hence manufacturing industries closed down.

Highly skilled workers moved in from greece, spain, portugal, italy e.t.c to take top jobs in the financial industries, and unemployed highly skilled britons felt betrayed. Yet, the UK was one of the biggest contributors to the EU project. Germany is next. These two are the sole reason why the EU exist cos of their strong economies.

The prospect of turkey joining the EU by 2020 was the final nail on the coffin. An islamic country of over 75 million people where wages are as low as $2/hr. Alot of people were scared that the UK would become flooded by turkish migrants. lol.

some of the few who grab sall what this was about. Not the cnn news filled / liberal luvvie rhetoric I've been hearing all day.

I had to delete part of your post to avoid taking up space on the thread, apologies for that.
I agree the government has not done enough, in fact it is safe to say the government has done nothing at all but at the same time I'm speaking from my own point of view which might not be rational to other people, I believe these people have not done enough for themselves too, there is a chain of command, why are they not holding their respective LG and SG by the throat to ensure there is increased government presence in their midst.
Again, maybe because I've the mindset of do what you can with the little you've, I feel they've not put to good use the little they got, I will give you a scenario, I served in a secondary school in one of the Ijaw communities, this is a school that has a single block of 6 classrooms then buildings that housed offices and residential quarters, no laboratory or similar things. Based on what I heard, the community usually has one or two slots with the oil company domiciled there, the community fixes in someone to work, the person gets paid part and remits the other part to the community (this is different from the numerous positions available to indigenes), going by this I expected them to have a certain amount that goes into developing their children vis a vis provision of conducive learning environment since the government at all tiers have failed in their responsibilities, rather what I saw is a case of once the money comes, we divide and eat and wait for the next pay day.
Just maybe my side of the argument is borne out of me being a non indigene of that area but it's an open secret the Nigerian govt has failed her citizens and has failed the South South even more.

understand what you are saying perfectly and that is the Holy truth. We can shout and point fingers at the Government all we want. The region needs a revolution against its on leaders. Primarily the Chiefs and Governors and administrators at LG levels. The money that goes into some of the communities is unthinkable. I have a first person experience. It never get used for its purpose or simply dropped in someone's account.

The people of the region need to come up with one voice, come out of regional politics and make their leaders accountable.

But beautiful women always know. That false indifference, superior air. It's just a tease. They want eyes on them. Why does she put on her make up? Do her hair? Dress so nicely? Not for her husband which she hardly ever sees, no, it's for somebody else to notice... I notice.

If you figure a way to live without serving a master, any master, then let the rest of us know, will you? For you'd be the first person in the history of the world."

These people called SS elders are all bundle of born criminals.
Shell wanted to construct Rumukurushi Road in Port Harcourt, these elders refused. And asked them to give them the money, that they would construct it using direct labour using their youths.
And that's how they constructed a road that didn't last 2months.
And now back asking shell for money to reconstruct same road

The problem of ND remains and lies with ND people. Anyone living in that region know this too well...Until accountable people start speaking up. ND will remain the way it is. It is all about money and never the community.

it's a Kleptocracy

Dee60:

Someone said Nigeria is practicing pseudo-democracy and not democracy.

Another person called it democrazy!

We are possibly not ripe for true democracy...Decent people have no access to political offices, except in few instances and as long as we have these strange characters there, there may not be any end to scandalous behaviour.

Sad.
