The police have deployed 8, 000 personnel across Kaduna metropolis ahead of the protest by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over the sack of 36,000 civil servants by Gov Nasir El-Rufa’i.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that heavily armed security personnel were stationed at the NLC headquarters along Independence Way and strategic areas of the metropolis while others were patrolling the town.

Hundreds of rescuers are combing wreckage in Southern California for more than a dozen people missing after mudslides that have killed 17 people.

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has released a timetable for the 2019 general elections.

”Today, it is exactly 402 days to the opening of polling units nationwide at 8:00 am on Saturday 16th February 2019,” the commission’s chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said in a tweet on Tuesday.

”Let us all join hands to make 2019 our best election ever.”

According to INEC, notice of election commences on August 17th, 2018, quoting Section 30 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) which requires not later than 90 days before the election.

A man who was drunk caused a bad smell on an airplane by leaving a mess in the bathroom.

Police arrested the man at the Southwest Florida International Airport after a Spirit Airlines flight crew told officers that he urinated all over the bathroom.

According to Lee County Port Authority Police, 58-year-old Dante Bencivenga of Fort Myers urinated on the toilet and the carpet of the plane.
