ProgrammingExperienced Devs In The House What Prog. Languages Did You Use The Most In Jobs? by Ethylalcohol(op): 2:39pm On May 13, 2024
Hello everyone!
I've been programming for about 2 years plus. I have no work experience, so I want to ask developers who have been or are still in the workforce a question,

What programming language have you used mostly in your Jobs?

I remember when I wanted to learn programming and got the same advice, languages don't matter just pick one and you'll be fine, knowing what I know now, I can confidently say that's terrible advice. Some programming Languages are better at some things than others, and why it's good to learn one to understand the basics, what should dictate your choice of a language is
1) what you want to do
2) the job market

The advice that sticking to one language till you master it, is also complete rubbish, as
1) you'll never be a master of any language, just have enough experience with it.
2) you can't call yourself a programmer if you only know one language
3) there's so much to learn in the tech world, and for most projects you may only need 30% of the knowledge about a particular skill or technology

So that's why I'm making this post, I want those who already have Job experience either in Nigeria or anywhere else, to share what programming language they used most, and what other skills they found in wide use.

I believe this will help not just me, but other aspiring developers, and newbies looking to enter the space.
