Finally: Allow GOD to lead you in this journey This journey is not cheap (emotionally, Pscychologically and Financially) There is something called Time and Chance Please do your research and understand some basic information on any treatment There are little things that can affect conception. Visiting a good gynaecology/fertility Dr @ onset could save you a lot Most Fertilty DRs we have around in Nigeria are always in a HURRY to do IVF and underplay important issues around conceptions If you have the wherewithall, a trip abroad especially India is a very good option (What we spent in total is more or less same as the procedural fee given to us for fibroid operation in Nigeria) A visit to Southshore womens hospital, VI Lagos for proper assessment and checkup can be done (DR Alabi is extremely good). Nb: it works for us hence why i put this line we are not BIAS in anyway on all the Hospitals mentioned in the narrative but just to show our experiences along the way. What works for me may not work for another and vice-versa We lived Graciously during this period and in all things, we give all the GLORY to GOD ALMIGHTY Finally, the purpose of this write up is to guide Someone Somewhere who is at the verge of making decision on the next step and also to profile ourself b4 you to know that there is always LIGHT at the end of the TUNNEL. 1 with GOD is a MAJORITY NB: if you have any clarifications to make, please drop your comment here, you may PM me and i promise to respond (may not be immediate but i'll surely respond) 14 Likes 1 Share |

The Breakthrough. After waiting for some time with no conception and the option of travelling back to India not feasible, we started thinking about a good hospital to go in Lagos. I was at work 1 day, during my break, i browsed the internet and came about a website called The Fertile Chick. i clicked on it and lo and behold, there was a story that did analysis on all major IVF centres in Nigeria. I checked the contents and asked my hubby to check as well. she settled for The Alpha Assisted Reproductive Klinic (The ARK in Dolphin, Lagos). Ambience was superb, Staff were courteos, The Ark centers their treatment around GOD and power to do the impossible. Awesome Miracles abound in their books and lots of paintings and inscriptions on wall says a lot abt this. She felt at home there and concluded in her mind from day 1 not to complain about anything but just say YES to whatever the DR says), Treatment was not CHEAP (compared to others), Latest innovations and technology are present in their modus operandi. In short, they are FANTASTIC AND we can give them 95%. Tests conducted, IVF treatment done, 2wks Wait, BFP confirmed for the 1st time ever and we are living the dream 10 Likes 1 Share |

Same 2015 We've been having discussions on whether to go all the way to India but always dropped the conversation mid way. With the greenlight from Dr Alabi, we took the decision to go and get another expert info. The hospital of choice in India was gotten on google, spirit led us to the place and b4 u say Jack Robinson, we were in india where we spent approx 3wks. Dr did tests and was thinking of proposing IVF. Test results showed everything was good and DR proceeded to do further examinations, she discovered and tell us exactly what DR ALABI said. Get rid of the Fibroids b4 thinking of IVF/Conception. Sent us to another expert for further scan to know the exact position and how to go abt the operation. The result was not fantastic, biggest size was like size of a 5 months pregnancy from what we were told (Wyfy is slim not on the BIG Size). DR scheduled us with other experts in another hospital (hospital we went to was majorly for IVF related treatment and not for surgery). On the day of operation, we were told of 2 options (Laparoscopy (20% chance) or Open surgery (Myemoctomy)). we signed with no option BUT in his mercies, the DR @ d IVF center wanted Laparoscopy (wyfy has never been pregnant for a day) and feared open surgery may complicate matter. God in his mercies prevailed and Laparoscopy option was done which took approximately 9hrs. Cyst drainage aspa the endometriosis was done as well. It wasn't easy but GOD granted us GRACE. We stayed back for wks and DR told us everything was alright and conception was 75% sure thereafter. DR proposed IVF as the likely option for conception and advised we come back for the treatment after 6months. NB: Comparing health facilities, expertise of Nigeria with India is like difference between Heaven and Earth. The difference is Clear. 3 Professors of Medicine (Including the Consultant anesthesia) performed the operations and one of the professors said he has never seen such a big Fibroid ever since he has been performing surgery. They were just too good. We thanK GOD for this experience and granting us the GRACE to scale through the hurdles and also the DECISION to visit SOUTHSHORE and INDIA. Period Pain stopped immediately and gone forever. 4 Likes |

2015 - On a weekend, thinking of the next step. I stumbled on a post by a lady on Southshore Women's hospital. I read the content and my spirit told me that we should visit the hospital. I told my hubby and right on the spot, placed a call and they scheduled us for an appointment ffg wed. We went there (Registration fee and 1 time consultancy was 57K). We paid and waited patiently for the main man @ Dr Alabi who fortunately has worked in the UK b4, he knew the hospital we went for the endometriosis treatment. He asked questions and results from the UK hospital, we were given just a page report. Dr Alabi was furious and said that shouldn't be. He said the contents in the report were not comprehensive enough (We paid a lot for the treatment in UK). He did lots of examinations and by mere touch, he said we had to get rid of the FIBROID if we ever dreamt of becoming parent. He told us if we don't mind paying over 200K, he will do further test but advised us against doing so cos he was very sure owing to his years of experience. We requested for the Fee for the Fibroid removal procedure, mehnnnnnnnnnn, it was out of this world. Approx 1.7m for Myoemectomy and 2.2m for laparoscopy treatment. We said thank you and took our leave. NB: Dr Alabi is professional, experienced, sound, understands us better, the best DR i've seen on this journey in Nigeria BUT the fee didnt cut it for us. We had doubts abt the procedure turning out good. He led us right and we took it from there 3 Likes |

2013 - Trip to UK for other expert analysis and advice. Dr discovered Endometriosis and Fibroid. Treatment was too expensive and DR advised that treatment should center on endometriosis and Fibroid could be managed as they were small and not really obstructing conception. Endometriosis was done with, Cyst removed and kind of drainage took place. spent like a month in UK back and forth to hospital. did lots of test and all. All seems to be Okay but the painful monthly period experience remain more or less same. Hope raised and we felt conception was near Back to Nigeria, in 2014 - another random check on line led me to a blog where i saw Roding Hospital. We went there, registered. Another series of test (expensive stuff). Test was done and at a time, we requested for a copy of our Test result and Roding was not forth coming after payment of like 250K. We were pissed off and we concluded, Roding was after our money. There were lots of things not going well for us in RODING and we stopped further treatment with them. Roding's experience was nothing to write home about 2 Likes |

Details of Treatment: 2010/2011 - HSGs. No blocked tubes. everything was Okay 2011 - 1st IUI - failed. 2012 - 2nd IUI - failed 2012 - IVF at Olive health in Lekki, Lagos Dr did all necessary tests and discovered fibroids and endometriosis (major cause of infertility). On Fibroid, he said they are not obstructing conception and IVF would bypass it while for endometriosis, he said same. Owing to knowledge gathered, i think the DR (though very experience, courteous, intelligent and sound) was very much interested in US doing the IVF procedure. We paid, procedure started. He collected good eggs, did 3 day transfer but was not successful at the end of the day. 2 Likes |
