Nigeria U23 head coach Samson Samson has sounded a note of warning to his players as the selection process continues for the Dream Team VI. The former Super Eagles forward while addressing the players after Tuesday’s training session said anyone caught trying to pay his way into the team will be dismissed from camp. "Do not give money to either my assistants or any agent with the hope of making this team. If I find out, the player will be dismissed from camp, Siasia said. "I did not mandate anybody to collect money on my behalf. Anyone who falls prey to such cheats will be sent out of camp forthwith. "Money cannot buy you a place in my team. Instead, your talent and discipline will take you to the top of your career. "As long as you hold the passport of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you are eligible to play for this country. "I was spotted and selected through this type of process. I’ll also like to give young ones like you the chance to play for our country. It is your country,” he concluded. Siasia has been saddled with the responsibility of qualifying the country for the 2016 All African Games and Olympics football event. Source : m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/6950752 |

Recently, some girls have been fighting over Flavour on the social media. It looks as if the girls may really be wasting their time as the singer told Saturday Beats that he is not settling down with anybody anytime soon. In fact, one of the ladies, who he allegedly put in the family way, gave birth recently but Flavour refused to talk about it when Saturday Beats asked him about being a new daddy. “I don’t like to talk about being a father but I don’t have any plans for marriage right now and it is because my career is very demanding. I would always want to spend time with my family and it is not something I can do now because I am all over the place. I was raised in the proper way with my parents always watching over me and I want to do the same to my family. For now, I don’t want to get married.” Anyway, nobody would really blame the ladies who fight over him. Flavour knows how to make the ladies swoon, especially with the kind of seductive pictures he releases on the social media. Now, ladies see the singer as a sex symbol, since he loves showing off his biceps and six packs at every opportunity. Flavour readily agrees that he shows off his body because he is proud of what he has got. He said he spends time to keep fit and he is confident about his body. “If I am not doing music, I love to work out and when I do that, I am confident enough to show my body on my social media accounts. If you call me a sex symbol, you are not lying. I feel it is a good thing for people to believe in themselves and be confident. I believe in hard work and it shows in my music and the way I work out at the gym. I exercise a lot and take out time to keep fit and maintain my physique,” he said. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday described the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan as below average. Obasanjo spoke during an encounter with book writers in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of activities marking the popular Ake Festival. When asked of his view on Jonathan’s administration, he said, “His performance is below average. I will not accept responsibility for his performance. There is nobody that gets such a position without being helped.” The former President also debunked the insinuations that he had selected Jonathan as the running mate to the late President Musa Yar’Adua because he knew the latter was sick. “Yar’Adua told me he was well. He showed me his medical report and I even consulted experts,” he said. He said he had only supported the idea of a South-Southerner succeeding Yar’Adua to extend the sense of belonging that the emergence of a Southern President in 1999 represented. When the former President was also asked on why he preferred Jonathan to the former governor of Rivers State, Donald Duke, he said, “In my own life, I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. Duke was young enough to be in the reserve. “He did not agree with me. Donald Duke is my friend but he needs a little of toning down. He needs to get his feet on the ground.” The former President had, in a December 2, 2013 18-page letter to Jonathan titled: “Before it is too late” raised many issues concerning Jonathan’s administration. The Presidency on Friday said a statement credited to Obasanjo that President Goodluck Jonathan’s performance is below average was “not true and in error.” Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said this in a telephone interview with SATURDAY PUNCH. Okupe said if the statement indeed emanated from the former leader, it was the most uncharitable thing to say about the present administration which he said had achieved so much in various areas. “If indeed former President Obasanjo said that, that statement was in error because no government since independence has done close to 50 per cent of what this administration has done in less than four years,” Okupe said. He recalled that when Obasanjo was leaving office, the total power generation capacity in the country was about 2,600MW, claiming that the present administration had been able to raise the figure to about 4,000MW. Okupe also said the Jonathan administration inherited 24 airports that were in states of disrepair across the country at inception. He said all the airports had so far been refurbished by the present administration, therefore increasing the country’s reputation among comity of nations. The presidential aide also said the present administration inherited 10 moribund National Integrated Power Projects and went ahead to restore and commission them. He added that the Jonathan administration had succeeded in completely eradicating the rot and corruption met in the distribution of fertilisers in the agriculture sector. He also said the present administration made progress in road construction by making 70 per cent of road network motorable. Okupe also said many of the manufacturing industries that were moribund in 2011 have started work again. “These are just a few among the achievements of the present administration. So if that statement was indeed made, it is most uncharitable and it is not true,” he added. Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathans-performance-below-average-obasanjo/ |
Some members of the All Progressives Congress in the Ekiti House of Assembly have written to Governor Ayodele Fayose over the need to respect the constitution and to ensure their protection. In a November 18 letter addressed to the governor, their lawyer, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, said the letter became necessary due to the invasion of the Assembly, harassment, intimidation and threats against them for refusing to join the Peoples Democratic Party. The letter was titled, “Your threat to peace, order and governance leadership in the Ekiti State House of Assembly.” Abayomi, who refused to name the concerned lawmakers because of the prevailing threats against them, asked the governor to ensure their personal security, political standing in the Assembly.” “Their concern and ours as their legal counsel arise from government sponsored threat to peace, order, good leadership and good government, particularly in the House of Assembly of Ekiti State. “This letter is a warning to you and your administration that no one is above the law in Nigeria. Please, take time to do right not only to those who voted to support you but those who voted against you in exercise of their constitutional duty. “This is what the constitution expects for you to be considered fit for the commission you now hold,” the letter stated. But Fayose in his reaction to the letter described Abayomi as a “hypocrite not worthy of the attention.” He said Nigerians should ask Abayomi where he was when a former Ekiti Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, used 12 Action Congress of Nigeria lawmakers to confirm the appointment of Local Government Caretaker Committees in 2010 while the then Speaker, Tunji Odeyemi, and other PDP lawmakers were in Abuja to meet with the president and the Deputy Speaker, Saliu Adeoti, was dead. Fayose, who reacted through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, advised Abayomi to stop exposing his naked hypocrisy. He said “Dr Abayomi should first show to the public, the record of his complaints when the APC Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, shut the state House of Assembly and moved the House sitting to the Government House. The Homicide Department of the SThe Homicide Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos, has submitted that the Synagogue six-storey building could have been felled by a techique termed controlled demolition. According to the SCID, controlled demolition is when a building is felled using chemical or electronic device. The position of the SCID was given by the Head, Homicide Investigation and Crime Scene Management at Panti, DSP Olusola Agoyi. Agoyi testified on Wednesday at the resumed sitting of the coroner, Magistrate O.A. Komolafe, probing the cause of the September 12 tragedy. The accident claimed no fewer than 116 lives. Agoyi, in his testimony, said the speed and the rate at which the Synagogue building caved in, coupled with some dust-like smoke that followed were peculiar elements seen only in a building felled by controlled demolition. He said, “My Lord, when you use chemical or electronic device to bring down a building, it is controlled demolition. “I found out from the CCTV that the rate and the speed of the fall of the building within seconds was just like that of a controlled demolition. “Aside that, the CCTV 3 captured some dust-like smoke coming out of the collapsed building.” Further lending weight to his claim, Agoyi referred the coroner to the oral account of one of the 34 survivors that he said were interviewed in the course of his intelligent findings. “The panel also interviewed one Taiwo Temitayo Taiwo, aged 28 years, one of the surviving victims of the collapsed building and I quote, ‘Immediately the building was coming down, what I saw or heard was like a thunderous lightning accompanied with a sound, hitting the wall as if someone was using a saw to cut an iron, then the house collapsed,'” Agoyi submitted. http://www.punchng.com/news/synagogue-building-felled-by-controlled-demolition-police/ |
