Politics / Is Recolonization Not An Option? by Ewe4real: 8:14am On Jan 14, 2012
It was a thing of joy when Nigeria became a country of her own on 1st October,1960. A day that we can never forget in our history. Counting on from then, after the whites had accomplished their mission to exploit and destroy, Nigeria has remain as stagnant as ever. Our pseudo leaders have always been levying their inefficiency and incapability on history, in terms if the relationship that existed between us and the whites(slavery and colonization).
But if we look at it critically and objectively, we will come to realize that it will be totally unfair to accord all the blames on history alone. This is because there are some other countries that were involved in these historical evil twins of slavery and colonialism; and where compared to us today we cannot really boast we can compete with them both economically and politically.
Nigeria is destined for greatness. It's just a sorry case we are still in this mess. Despite all we have in terms of resources as well as our climatic condition that's so favorable for anything and everything, it is highly lamentable we are still crawling in terms of development. Looking at this disgusting issue, one starts to imagining having the whites back to probably help us put things right. This is not totally a bad idea though. South Africa is a good example. The whites left south Africa in the 90s. And by then, they were sure the blacks were ripe enough to continue from where they (white) were stopping. And to the glory of trust, the blacks haven't really disappointed. South Africa is arguable the most developed country in Africa now. Ghana that is fast emerging as one of the African power houses now experienced what we experienced in Nigeria (slavery and colonialism). Why is our's different?
The answer is not far fetched. The generation in charge of power at present is not capable of governing the country. The coming and emerging generation are really showing a lot of promises. They are the hope of the country but we can't continue to be on-lookers and allow this miserable generation destroy the system before we finally seize power from them.
I pray we discover the way out on time because the earlier the better they say.
The whites have their demerits as well. We all know that the whites don't make bargains that will not be of their benefit. So they will want to still exploit us in their own little way. But I think because international organizations and bodies are watching, who knows what it might turn out to be? Nigerian youths are well educated and enlightened so I believe we can handle this.
These two options are bitter pills. Very hard for us to take. We don't want the whites back and we don't want this generation to ruin the country beyond repair. What do we do please?
Politics / Re: Nigeria At 50: Is It Worth Celebrating? by Ewe4real: 6:57pm On Sep 28, 2010
What an irony, what a country. A country where nothing works. A country where crime is held in high esteem. A country that is unique for having poverty as one of the elements of her culture. Suffering and smiling so says Fela. We don't have to blame anyone for our misfortune, As far as goodness is concerned, this aniversary is not meant for our independence but for the celebration of 50 years of domination of the powerless by the powerful.
To clock 50 years is worth celebrating because there are some countries that are no more even before their 50s; again, some countries are in their 20s and 30s and are better-off than Nigeria. However, after 50 years, i wonder what we will point at if we were asked to account for our acheivements over the years. I don't it will be a bad idea if the europeans were to recolonize us.
By and large, this aniversary can still serve as a wake up call to our leaders as well as the populace because we've got nothing to showcase to the outside world as our acheivement.
Let me cap my comment with the words of Karl Marx who says that 'the only power that belongs to the masses is their number'. So let's put this numerical power into use and wage revolution. It has worked in places like Chind (Mao), Cuba (Castro), Russia etc. Let's make it happen because now is the time. God bless Nigeria,
