I believe there is a down-side to using wordpress(WooCommerce)... It isn't as secure as many think. And their upgrades come up too often.
It is better to develop from scratch... You will have more control over it that way.

I can do this for you...

CareerBuild A Network You Can Be Proud Of! Top 7 Tips For Effective Networking by eWorkerAfrica(op): 11:26am On Apr 25, 2016
Networking, contrary to popular belief is like walking into a room (virtual or real) and asking yourself “how can I help every single person in here?” Networking is helping others as much as you can without any thought for personal gain. It’s about thinking ‘who would find this piece of data useful or beneficial’.

Building and maintaining an effective network need not be burdensome or time-consuming; it can be as simple as dropping your contacts a regular email – asking after their news on family, personal and business matters, before letting them know what you’re currently doing. Not only does this keep you in touch with colleagues, friends and future clients – it also makes that phone call to ask a favour easier if you’ve made contact previously without making a request for help.

A freelancer or professional's network can be readily divided into:

Friends;
Associates or colleagues;
Those who can influence your business now;
Those who may be able to influence your business in the future.
They’re all equally as important – but how you interact and keep contact with them will be subtly different; you’ll be asking your friends/associates about their family and for ‘a bit of gossip’ perhaps – whereas you’ll be asking more business-oriented questions of those who may influence your business.

Effective networking is the sharing of the right information (or the provision of assistance) to the right people at the right time without a thought for personal gain.

Networking is putting yourself out there – shaking hands with new people; both virtually and in the flesh – and helping them to meet their goals as much as you can. Be free with your time and energy – and here’s the game-changer… reciprocity and selfish altruism.

This selfless art of networking; when practised honestly and whole-heartedly will furnish your contacts with the knowledge and assistance they need whilst boosting your reputation as a guru in your field of expertise. Moreover – those you assist will never tire of telling others who ‘pointed them in the right direction’; it’s a human thing – we can’t help ourselves.

So here are our top 7 tips to help Freelancers & Professionals network effectively:

1. Create a network database and log. Although this task can be time-consuming, it only needs to be done once a year. Divide your database/spreadsheet into the categories above; use a column for their email address, one for date sent, and one for their response (or lack of – see below). Copy and paste contacts’ emails into your chosen calendar app as individual ‘events’ (with a reminder set) for a time when you should be able to send an email without distraction. When your reminder appears, just click on the email hyperlink and send them a message! You should aim to contact your entire network at least 3-times a year, so you should set the number of daily ‘events’ accordingly; deciding whether you are going to write these emails on weekdays, weekends, or a combination of both. Remember to be flexible, however – it’s of no use sending someone an email asking after their news if you only spoke last week!

2. Filter your network. If you haven’t heard back from a contact (be they friends or potential clients) after 3 attempts, remove them from your database. Be bold – you’re wasting your time sending them regular correspondence. They’ll still see your updates on Social Media sites.

3. Do not attend every ‘Networking Event’.Be selective when choosing what networking events to attend. This will save you a lot of time to focus on other aspects of your goals as a Freelancer. From experience, you will find yourself meeting a certain kind of people who would not be fit for your business at certain events, boycott such and attend the events where your clients and colleagues are most likely to be found.

4. Avoid all forms of ‘Speed Networking’.This is just as it says on the tin!

5. Share interesting articles, news and opportunities. If you found it interesting and relevant, then share it with others. This can be as straightforward as posting a link to the article or opportunity on Social Media; but often you’ll discover a nugget that a certain person in your network will really value. By all means share this on Social Media as well – but take the time to send it to that certain person with an accompanying and personal note.

6. Contribute to and engage with forum discussions. LinkedIn is perfect for submitting articles and contributing to discussions in Groups pertinent to your specialisation. This is a very effective way to grow your network, as you’ll quickly connect with fellow contributors.

7. Be a Listener. What is the ratio of your ears to your mouth? Apply same ratio to listening and talking when networking. With the exception of lectures and seminars, you’re highly unlikely to find yourself in a room with 50 other like-minded and skilled professionals. How dull would that be? Listen to others – be interested in what they do; and how.
Never pass up the opportunity to hear how people outside of your genre ‘do what they do’ – you may just discover your Eureka moment.

Always remember, your network is a ‘living entity’ that needs stimulation and nurturing – leave it to fester and it will simply curl up and die.

Jobs/VacanciesA Beginners Guide To Securing Freelance Jobs by eWorkerAfrica(op): 10:28am On Apr 15, 2016
Have you recently decided to go freelance to supplement your current income? Are you looking to build a career out of freelancing? One thing’s for sure – you’re likely to need some help. Depending on what type of work you’ve decided to do, the first thing you’ll need to know is where to find good freelance jobs, and how to get them.

Read to discover valuable insight on how to go about gaining your first freelance jobs.

Know your onion

It doesn’t matter if you’re the most confident person in the world, or if you’re as timid as a church mouse, you have to know how best to sell your services. When applying for jobs on platforms such as eWorker, it’s best to take a fresh/refined approach to each and every job you apply for. Taking the time to submit a tailored proposal for each job, and allowing the customer to see that you’re investing more time and effort than it takes to simply copy and paste a generic proposal is likely to get you more interest. In addition to this, show yourself off. Make sure your profiles are up to date with some of your work showcased in your portfolio. If a client wants an urgent job done, the people whose work they can see without specifically asking for it will likely be hired first.

Offer Incentives

If you’re a newbie freelancer, it’s essential you build a reputation, as freelance jobs don’t come in beds of roses. Offering to work for slightly less, or sending a short sample of your work on your first few jobs will allow you to start building a good reputation, and once you have some great feedback from clients on your profile, you can start increasing the prices you charge for your services.

Follow up on every proposal

Sometimes clients get so busy with their workloads, they simply forget that they’ve not allocated a job, and the first to remind them is often the person who will be get the job. Please take note that I’m not suggesting you send reminder messages every hour, but do send a timely, friendly reminder, perhaps a day or so later, just asking if there’s anything else they need to know about you, or if they’ve had chance to consider your proposal. At all costs, avoid sounding desperate as this will destroy your reputation faster than you can ever imagine.

Use Social Media

To succeed in your freelance business, you must maintain active profiles on social media. If you’re on LinkedIn, or even Facebook or Twitter, it’s worth posting your eWorker profile link, or if you have a blog, you can even pop a “hire-me” widget on there too. The exciting thing about social media is that it only takes one person on your network to like or share your profile, for someone you’ve never heard of to decide you’re just what they need!

It’s not easy to make a break in the freelance market as a first timer, but following the tips above will give you higher chances of getting the first few freelance jobs to kick off your new career.

BusinessStrategies To Help You Build A Better Brand Reputation On Instagram by eWorkerAfrica(op): 9:30am On Apr 13, 2016
Your brand is everything you’ve got, hence you need to ensure it is well known if you would like to grow your business to the heights you envisioned when you started out. Instagram is a very great opportunity for rapid brand building if you have a good understanding of the strategies to employ.

This post provides tips on how to build your brand with Instagram.

Why Instagram? Instagram is the fastest growing social platform available online today – it grew to over 400 million users in 2015 surpassing Twitter in number of monthly users. Better still, according to some sources, Instagram has achieved a considerably higher engagement rate than Facebook and Twitter!

Here are some strategies for brand building with Instagram:

Set Up a Business Account

It should go without saying that your personal and business Instagram accounts should be separate (if not, keep on reading and you’ll understand why). Remember to choose an Instagram username that is in sync with your actual business name if your chosen username is not available. We also recommend matching same as closely as possible to your accounts on other social media sites for uniformity, memory and search optimization. Your profile image should ideally also be the same as your other accounts.

Include a Clickable Link to Your Website

The only opportunity to place a clickable link within your Instagram account is on your bio beneath your name and your description. Use this to drive traffic to your website and boost sales. Don’t forget to add a clear and enticing description of your business on your bio as this is the best way to earn clicks on your link.

Create Original Content

One of the most effective ways to build your brand with Instagram is to create your own content. Your brand has a personality as well as a character and the content you share is the only way to portray what your brand will be perceived as. Be sure that your images tell your story well and showcase what the brand does. But do not create only images and videos that showcase what your brand sells, also create content that shows how your brand can actually be used in share-worthy images as well as everyday life and watch your followers multiply in their numbers.

Use High Quality Images

Posting high quality images is extremely important, as a poor images can earn your brand the wrong impression, no matter how brilliant, attractive or perfectly proportioned the images are. The optimal image size on Instagram is 1080 pixels x 1080 pixels (Instagram used to have smaller image sizes, but have previously increased the size, making room for much larger images, and in turn this means your brand really has the chance to display some awesome high resolution photos!). With high quality images and videos you will easily appeal to your followers and gain further followers who will readily consume your marketing message without you having to do any sales pitches!

Use Hashtags Effectively

Hashtags are the very soul of Instagram! A single hashtag has the potential to connect you to thousands if not millions of new leads on Instagram. Using descriptive hashtags will place your content in front of more people and ultimately grow your engagement and following. To achieve targeted exposure for your brand on Instagram, always include hashtags related to your niche in every post. You can include as many as 30 hashtags in a single post. We recommend a minimum of 5-15 hashtags as research shows that even small accounts that use 11 or more hashtags are able to gain an average of 77.6% interactions. Think of what a 77.6% or more rate of interaction will do for your brand!

Be Consistent

Consistency is key, therefore being consistent should be a top priority for you. Be consistent with the frequency of your posts as well as with the type of images you share. Videos are also excellent to add to your content, but only use them if you can create high quality videos, users will enjoy watching.

Gather Engaged Followers

The key to have followers that actually engage with your posts is to post at the time they are most likely to be online. It is futile posting a stunning image and getting very low engagement because hardly any of your followers saw it. Use the very useful tool ‘Iconosquare’ to find out when most of your followers are online and post at this time.

Nairaland GeneralResearch-Proven Tricks That Make You Seem Smarter Than You Are by eWorkerAfrica(op): 8:18am On Apr 11, 2016
It’s great to be smart, but intelligence is a hard thing to pin down. In many cases, how smart people think you are is just as important as how smart you actually are.

“I not only use all the brains that I have, but all that I can borrow.” -Woodrow Wilson

As it turns out, intelligence only explains about 20% of how you do in life; much of the other 80% comes down to emotional intelligence (EQ). EQ is a skill that’s so important that 90% of top performers in the workplace have high EQs and people with high EQs make $28,000 more annually than those with low EQs.

The hallmark of emotional intelligence is self-awareness, which involves not just knowing how you are but also how other people perceive you. People with high emotional intelligence are masters of influence—they’re skilled at altering their behavior to make the most of a given situation.

You might not be able to alter your genetics, but there are some proven strategies that can help you appear to be smarter. Some of these strategies seem arbitrary, but research shows they make a massive difference. That makes this good information to have, especially when you need to sway someone to your way of thinking.

Use a middle initial
John F. Kennedy. Franklin D. Roosevelt. It turns out there might be a reason that so many people who hold a prominent place in history used a middle initial. Not only does using a middle initial enhance your perceived social status, it also boosts expectations of intelligence capacity and performance. In one study, participants were asked to read and rate Einstein’s essay on the theory of relativity, with authorship being attributed to either David Clark, David F. Clark, David F. P. Clark, or David F. P. R. Clark. Not only did David F. Clark get higher ratings than David Clark, David F. P. R. Clark outdid them all. In another study, participants were asked to choose team members. For academic competitions, people who used middle initials were selected more frequently than those who didn’t. (It was quite a different story for athletic competitions.) So, if you want a quick perceived IQ boost, start using that middle initial.

Make graphs
Research conducted at Cornell suggests that people are more likely to trust a source if it contains graphs. In one of the Cornell studies, participants read a document on the effectiveness of a new cold medication. One report contained a graph; the other didn’t. Other than that, they were exactly the same. Still, 96% of the participants who read the report with a graph believed the claims, while only 67% percent of those who read the document without a graph thought the same. So, next time you create a document, stick in a graph. It doesn’t have to be complex; it just has to be accurate.

Skip that drink
And that’s not just because people tend to do stupid things when they’ve been drinking. A joint study conducted by the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania revealed that merely seeing someone hold a drink is enough to make them seem less intelligent. It’s not that we assume less intelligent people are more likely to drink; it’s that the perceived correlation between drinking and cognitive impairment is so strong that we assume impairment even if there isn’t any. For example, although job candidates frequently think that ordering a glass of wine over a dinner interview will make them appear intelligent and worldly, it actually makes them come across as less intelligent and less hirable. There’s even a name for it: the “imbibing idiot bias.”

Believe in yourself
Nothing projects intelligence quite like confidence. When you believe in yourself, it shows, and research shows that believing in yourself improves your performance on cognitive tasks. Self-doubt, on the other hand, impairs your performance. What’s worse is that other people pick up on this doubt, which makes you appear less intelligent to them. If you want people to believe in you, you have to believe in yourself.

Write simply
If you’re really smart, you shouldn’t have to use big words to broadcast it. True intelligence speaks for itself, so you don’t have to show off your impressive vocabulary. In addition, you always run the chance of being wrong. Using a big word incorrectly makes you look, well, not so smart. So, if you want to appear more intelligent, stop studying the dictionary and just focus on communicating effectively.

Speak expressively
Communication expert Leonard Mlodinow makes the case that even if two people say exactly the same thing, the one who says it most expressively will be perceived as being smarter. "If two speakers utter exactly the same words, but one speaks a little faster and louder and with fewer pauses and greater variation in volume, that speaker will be judged to be more energetic, knowledgeable, and intelligent,” Mlodinow said. If you want to come across as more intelligent, modulate your speech by varying your pitch, volume, speed, and energy level.

Look 'em in the eye
We know we’re supposed to do this anyway—it’s good manners, right? That’s true, but it also makes you look smarter. In a study conducted at Loyola University, participants who intentionally managed their eye contact scored significantly higher on perceived intelligence.

Wear nerd glasses
Did your mom ever tell you to be nice to the nerds, because you’ll probably be working for them someday? As usual, mom was onto something. Research shows that people wearing glasses—especially thick, full-framed ones—are perceived as being more intelligent. So, if you want to seem smarter (when you’re giving a presentation, perhaps?), leave the contacts at home and wear your glasses.

Keep pace with the crowd
I mean this one literally. I know it may sound silly, but research conducted at Boston University shows that it’s true. It’s called the “timescale bias,” and it refers to our tendency to attribute greater intelligence—based on mental attributes like consciousness, awareness, and intention—to people who do things at about the same speed as everyone else. If you want to look smarter, you need to stop dawdling, but you also need to stop scurrying around like some crazed robot.

Dress for success
This one should be no surprise. Extensive research shows that how you dress affects how people see you. Dressing well makes you seem more intelligent, and showing skin makes you seem less intelligent, as it directs people’s attention to your body rather than to your mind. But did you know that how you dress also affects your performance? A recent study by Northwestern University found that making people wear lab coats improved their performance in tasks that required intelligence and concentration.

Bringing It All Together
Intelligence (IQ) is fixed at an early age. You might not be able to change your IQ, but you can definitely alter the way people perceive you. When it comes to succeeding in the real world, perception is half the battle.

Jobs/VacanciesHow To Become A Highly Paid Freelance Writer – The Basics by eWorkerAfrica(op): 7:51am On Apr 11, 2016
If someone told me a few years back that I could make a living, have hundreds of different (and really amazing) clients and be able to work from home around my family, doing what I loved, I probably would have laughed in disbelief. Writing has always been my passion, but lack of confidence in my potential saw me limiting myself to writing short stories, blogging and writing small amounts of marketing material for the various businesses I worked for. It was only a year ago that I decided to take the challenge into becoming a freelance copywriter, and, from initially working just a few hours a few times a week, with one Quicky, I have now built my customer base into a thriving little freelance empire of my own with over 940 sales on that first Quicky alone.

The benefits of becoming a Freelance Copywriter

One of the best things becoming a freelance copywriter can give you (aside from the fact that it can provide you with a sustainable income if you’re ready to work for it) is the ability to write about diverse topics ranging from sports to celebrities to business, and everything in-between. As a copywriter, your text might be appear on websites, adverts, brochures, digital media, or elsewhere, and you might write to inform, entertain, or persuade your audience. Each different job brings a new challenge, and you’d be surprised about what you’ll learn when researching.

There are other benefits in becoming a freelance copywriter, aside from the few mentioned above, they include:

1. There are no strict requirements for qualifications or specialised equipment to be able to write (though obviously qualifications can help you when it comes to advertising your skills), and you can work as a freelance copywriter from anywhere you are in the world. To get started, all you need is a computer, a phone, and of course a passion for writing.

2. A big room for flexibility comes with this role as well. Unlike a usual 9-to-5 job, you’ll have the freedom to schedule your writing around any other work or family commitments you might have.

3. The copy you produce can be used for marketing campaigns, and might have lasting positive impact the future of a brand. To know that your copy has helped a business thrive is very fulfilling. Think of yourself like Superman or Spiderman and you can see those you saved living happily ever after!

Freelance Copywriting Clients

If like me, you choose to work through eWorker, which avoids the worry that many freelancers have about whether they’ll get paid for the work they do, you’ll more than likely find yourself working for a diverse range of clients, all of which will have varying intentions when hiring you as a freelance copywriter. For example, they might want you to write copy to inform their customers about a new product or service they have launched. On other occasions, a brand might want you to create content to improve their search engine rankings.

Here are some of the different kinds of writing tasks clients may request from you. From my experience, I’ll suggest you study the various styles of writing, and get a feel for structure/tone for each situation, to ease your writing:

Social media

With increasing popularity of the Web 2.0, more companies are seeking copywriters to produce content for their social media pages. You may be hired to write for their Facebook or LinkedIn pages for example. This content will usually be brief, but will need to be original and eye-catching to attract more readers.

Business-to-consumer (B2C)

This type of copywriting is used to persuade an audience to purchase a particular product or service. You may have to write in a particular voice on behalf of the brand, and explain any benefits or features of the product they are trying to sell.

Business-to-business

Here you will be required to write copy for other businesses on behalf of your client. Business-to-business, or B2B, copywriting might be more formal, and include certain key words that are familiar with a particular industry or niche.

Technical writing

A copywriter who has a broad knowledge of a particular field (for example, technology, nature, or arts) will be able to write more in-depth/detailed articles on particular subject/s for their client.

SEO writing

SEO copywriting is intended to rank very well on search results pages. In the past, writers would include certain keywords and phrases in their content in order to make their copy rank high on search results. However, in recent times, search engine optimisation, or SEO, has evolved and is now much more complex and the quality of the content is much more important than bombarding an article with keywords.

Skills and personality traits required

The two most important qualities you’ll need are a proven writing ability, and dedication to succeed. You will also need to possess some good administrative skills, such as the ability to communicate with clients, prioritise and schedule work, and adhere to time deadlines. I try my best to “under promise and over deliver”, in order to make sure my clients are impressed with my work, which has gained me some great feedback and led to word of mouth referrals from some clients.

Becoming a freelance copywriter is not always a smooth sail though. You are bound to have some bumps along the way, especially if clients aren’t initially happy with your work. You’ll have to develop your “shock absorber”, be able to accept criticism and respond appropriately by making amendments to your work. Should you receive a negative query from a client, my advice would be to wait a while before responding, as firing off a quick response when angry and/or upset is not a good idea. Constant communication is VITAL when it comes to your clients, so if you’ve had a problem at home that has led to you lagging behind with work, informing your clients early is essential.

Finally, you need to have confidence in your expertise, and if you think you can do it, then take that LEAP & give it a shot. You can always start small, like I did, scheduling your writing work around your current job, until the time you have enough work to break away from the 9-5, and find your own place in the world as a freelance copywriter.

However, in the ever-evolving world of phone applications there are many apps and tools that can help increase your efficiency.

With the Zen Writer you have the flexibility to change background, colours, sound effects and even play music while working, making it the perfect way to complete tasks – stress-free!

Plus, ticking off completed tasks on your to-do list will help you feel like you’re accomplishing more, giving you a real motivation to stay productive!

Dropbox

Dropbox is a must-have app for any freelancer. With technology so advanced you could be working on your phone, tablet or laptop, Dropbox allows you to sync your work by simply dragging and dropping. You will then be able to access your work from any of your devices giving you huge flexibility on how, and where to work. There is also the ability to share your synced files with others – perfect when you are collaborating on a group project.

Evernote

Your note pad or laptop is out of reach, you’re not working rather, you’re enjoying quality time with family and friends, but then… you experience an “Aha” or Eureka moment! You’ve finally got the perfect inspiration for the design you’ve been brainstorming on. Not leaving it to chance, you need somewhere to store or note this piece of information. Here comes Evernote to your rescue! Whether it is a sentence, an image or a video, Evernote gives you the organised space to simply record your ideas and retrieve them when you need them. Similarly to Dropbox, this app also enables you to sync your ideas to all of your devices.

CareerHow To Make Extra Income As A 9-5 Freelancer In Nigeria by eWorkerAfrica(op): 10:22am On Apr 06, 2016
Let’s face it, times are hard, and it’s sad when you have too little at the end of the month to cater for your financial needs. It’s a well-known fact that many people in Africa are in financial difficulties and with the ever increasing cost of living coupled with wages not always increasing in line with these costs, it’s no wonder that people like you and I are looking for ways to supplement their income.

So what’s the way out?

It sounds so easy, but there are two options – cut your costs, or make more money. If you’re on the breadline as it is were, cutting your expenses can be almost impossible, and if it’s not possible to ask your employer for more money, then you’ve got to find another way of bringing home the bread. This is why taking up freelance jobs is becoming a trusted route for those willing to work in the evenings. Not only do you have the freedom to make more money doing something you’re good at – whether writing blogs, designing logos or perhaps something completely different – but you can make some really good money doing things you enjoy for people who need your services.

What is a Freelancer?

A freelancer, by definition, is someone who “is self-employed and hired to work for different companies on particular assignments” according to the Oxford Dictionary. If you possess skills in any area – let’s say you’re an admin assistant – you can use these skills for other clients outside your working hours. Platforms like eWorker are built to support freelancers, and act as a marketplace of sorts, where businesses that value the skills freelancers have to offer and those who want to make some money doing what they’re good at can connect. It’s much simpler than you’d think to get started on these platforms, and you can advertise any skills you have quickly and easily, in addition to looking and bidding for jobs or tasks that potential clients have posted online.

Cashing in on the need for 24/7 service

There’s absolutely no reason you can’t get started quickly and easily, and whatever kind of work you’d prefer to do, or whatever shift patterns you currently work, you can make money in your “downtime” by becoming a freelancer.

CareerHow To Build A Sustainable Revenue Stream By Taking Up Freelance Jobs Online by eWorkerAfrica(op): 11:40am On Apr 04, 2016
Starting off as a freelancer can be quite challenging, especially if you know other freelancers that struggle to find regular work. Even the most professional of people, experienced in their field, can face difficulties when it comes to getting jobs if they haven’t planned on how to gain regular work. However, there are many freelancers who have built (myself included) a profitable, regular stream of work, and there are a wide variety of tips and tricks to achieve this.

In this article, we will take a look at some of the most effective ways to build your freelance revenue stream that should see you through your freelance career.

Pitch for work
It’s no use putting up a profile on eWorker.co, or building a website and hoping the work will just come to you. The beauty of pitching for work is that you can select the jobs you prefer do, that will fit in with your schedule and earn you what you feel you deserve. However, you should always tailor your pitch to the job you’re bidding for. Buyers on eWorker, and elsewhere, are likely to recognise a generic pitch when they see one, and this tends to make you look lazy and reduce your chances of getting hired. Just like tailoring a cover letter for an white collar job, make sure your proposal tell the buyer exactly what you can offer them for their specific needs.

Use one or more Quickies
This is a great way of getting regular business, as well as one off jobs. In fact, my Quickies have brought me a solid revenue stream right from the start. Based on your skillset, you can offer any number of Quickies that will likely attract prospective buyers. Ensure you include relevant keywords in describing your Quicky, and you’ll show up in search results, getting you in the face of clients you would never have met otherwise. Your Quickies are a permanent advertisement for your services, so make sure you update them regularly, tweak them if necessary as things change, or you can think of add-ons to offer.

Teach (if you can)
Would you like to help others and make money at the same time? Then consider passing on your skillset to others by offering training as one of your Quickies! If you’re an experienced Photoshop expert for instance, you could offer to show buyers how to remove backgrounds from pictures for a one off training fee. Do not think that you would be cutting off your income stream by doing so. You can usually charge more than you would for one off background removals, and you’ll be showing your expertise to clients, so they may be more likely to call on you if they need something much more complicated done.

Another way to use your experience and expertise to generate regular income through training is by commencing a regular course. Taking the Photoshop expert as an example again, you could set up a weekly training session for a period of 3 months, where you teach buyers different aspects of Photoshop that they’re likely to need to know. You can command a good fee for training, and you may find this leads to a new offshoot for your freelance career.

Don’t be discouraged by others who haven’t had their freelance breakthroughs. As with other careers, your success in freelancing depends most importantly on your determination to succeed. As long as you think carefully about how to build a regular stream of income, and use some of the tips I’ve shared above, there’s absolutely no reason you can’t have a profitable freelance career of your own.

Nairaland GeneralHow To Hire Freelance Writers Online [check List] by eWorkerAfrica(op): 5:30pm On Apr 01, 2016
Everybody knows that if you run business with an online presence, the one thing you must consistently and regularly do is create content. However, business is never as simple as that, and like most business owners you will probably find it very difficult to make out time for a regular content creation schedule. How do you overcome this and stay focus on other aspects of your business? There is a way out! Just read on to discover how to fit this in so that content creation remains consistent and brings the traffic that you need for your business to flourish.

The solution is to hire a good writer! Here’s our beginner’s checklist for hiring Freelance Writers

Ok, I know you’ve agreed that this is a good idea but you’re asking “Aren’t there are hundreds of thousands of writers touting their skills and experience currently online? How do I get my head around this? How do I hire a good writer from the crowd? We have put together a check list of qualities you need to look for when hiring and trust us, this check list when followed meticulously will get you the good writer you need, a true content creator, whose work will give your business a lasting positive impact.

1. Your potential writer doesn’t need to have a website full of flashy videos and graphics, but they at least should have a portfolio they can point you to. Do not hire a writer unless they can show that they have completed some work, so expect to see a portfolio of work online. If they have a blog or website too, this is great news, but treat it as a bonus. You aren’t necessarily looking for someone who is popular online and has a loyal following. You should be more interested in the quality of what they do.

2. Request for testimonials. We can’t stress this enough. You need to be able to see evidence from people who have used the writer’s services before which is why we have a feedback system on eWorker. If you can’t see this evidence, why would you hire this writer? This is because great writing doesn’t always mean a reliable writer, one who will stick to deadlines for example. Seeing feedback from people who have hired that writer gives you a better feel of what to expect when you hire him or her.

3. Money is an issue. Check if you would gladly hire a writer who charges cheaply for their work. Considering the very best quality is worthwhile if you can afford it or somewhere in-between if you can’t. Quality costs, and will always do. Go for quality, avoid buying cheap.

4. Ask for sample write-ups. Some writers literally get in a rage if you ask for samples, so do it differently. Rather than asking for a sample article, ask for a sample 200 words. This shouldn’t take too long to do, and 200 words is just enough to show what the writer is capable of. Most writers appreciate that they have to prove they are a good fit, and 200 words takes care of that.

Basically, you should ensure that the writer has good credentials, and has an evidence of experience. Also, you need to make sure that they aren’t too cheap. Then, it is just a question of getting a sample, making sure they are a good fit (article writers are not the same as sales copywriters, for example) and making a decision to hire or not to hire. The checklist above should help you along the way.
