20 year old herdsman, Isa Alhassan has been arrested by officers of the Nasararwa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly stabbing a farmer, Nasiru Mohammed, to death in Kokona Local Government Area of the state on June 1st.
According to the NSCDC state commandant Lawan Bashir-Kano, the attack happened after Isa and his cattles strayed into the deceased’s farm at Anguwan Arimi I Bassa village of the state. An altercation ensued and the suspect out of anger, stabbed the victim until he died. Isa has since been arrested and will be handed over to the police soon. The deceased has since been buried…

The Gender Equality Opportunity (GEO) Bill which suffered major setback in March this year, has been amended and was passed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, by the sponsor of the bill, Senator Abiodun Olujimi today.
The bill which among other things was designed to address women’s freedom of movement, female economic activity, girls’ access to education, equal rights for women in marriage, divorce,
property/land ownership and inheritance, appropriate measures against gender discrimination in political and public life and prohibitions of violence to women, was rejected by majority of the male senators as they felt the bill if passed will give women more power and this according to them was against the African culture.
Some of the senators even alleged that the bill if passed will turn some women into prostitutes and lesbians. Anyway the bill has been amended. It passed its first reading today and hopefully it would get accelerated hearing and will be passed into law.

Idris of the Federal High Court of Lagos State, Ikoyi on a 23-count charge bordering on concealing proceeds of crime, retaining the proceeds of crime and failing to furnish information.

According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the first defendant, Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel Dudafa, is alleged to have laundered ill gotten wealth to the tune of over N1,667,162,800.00 (One billion, six hundred and sixty seven million, one hundred and sixty two thousand, eight hundred Naira) while in office, through Ebiwise Resources Limited, Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited, Rotato Inter-Link Services Ltd and Pluto Property & Investment Company Ltd accounts with the assistance of the second defendant, Iwejuo Joseph Nna, the account officer of the said accounts and presently a branch manager of a new generation bank.
