A decomposing body of a man is lying under Goodluck Jonathan Bypass, around 8 Miles, Calabar. According to CRW: “The body is rotten, swollen and stinking badly. It appears he has been here for over a week, and may have been killed because he has cuts on his hand, part of his head has something that looks like machete cut and it appears the back of his head is open.

A young boy identified as Abdulaziz, nicknamed ‘Turtle’ stormed his neighbor’s house, Hosea Aliyu, a resident of Lake Bai gate in the city of Katsina with the intent to steal.
According to reports, in the course of the operation, Hosea was stabbed to death by the young thief who dumped his body in a pit and fled after taking his victim’s money.
The police are searching for him.

15 year old girl from Plateau State, Nimre Moses, who was abducted by a man identified as Aminu and taken to Katsina state has been rescued.
According to Plateau News Online, Aminu forcefully abducted Nimre from her school located at Life Camp in Abuja, took her to Katsina state, converted her to Islam and change her name to Nana Khadija.
Her brothers who were her guardians in Abuja swiftly move into action by taking the case to the police, calling on NGOs, civil society groups who came to their aid.
Her abductor has since been arrested by SARS after preliminary investigation and the case transferred to State C.I.D at Garki Abuja.

Nimre Moses is still in custody of the Police as investigation is ongoing.
The Abuja branch of the Tarok cultural group, ‘Nkalang O’Tarok’ through Lamde Ozoemena Sohde who took interest in the case contacted NAPTIP, who asked him to write a petition, someone from the group volunteered to link him up to Prof Bem Angwe the DG National Human Rights Commission to ensure justice is served to the culprit and to prevent future occurrence.
Meanwhile various tests have been conducted on Nimre and the result will be out today. She has also written a statement detailing her ordeal.”

The Enugu State Police Command has described the reports of alleged return of herdsmen in Nimbo community to unleash terror, as not only false but baseless and aimed at underscoring the effort of the state government as well as that of the security Agencies put in place to restore normalcy and to ensure that there is lasting peace not only in Nimbo but other communities in the state. A statement issued today, June 9, by the command after the cut…
“The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform members of the public particularly good people of the state that its attention has been drawn to various malicious and misleading publications in some sections of the print media particularly that of Daily Sun Newspaper of wednesday 8th June,2016 amongst others with the caption: “FEARS IN ENUGU AS FULANI HERDSMEN RETURN TO NIMBO” and wish to state as follows:
That following the incident at Nimbo Community on 25th April,2016,that the state command working in partnership with other security Agencies,relevant stake holders and the Government of the state has constantly ensured that live returns to the community as security operatives have been on ground since the ugly incident.
That since after the incident, Nimbo community and its environs have been peaceful as business activities have resumed in its full capacity.
That the story as presented by the writer could be seen as figment of his imagination as he could not exercise professionalism which demands that all the sides must be reached on the event of any issue to enable balance reportage as this also, would have enabled him to be in the picture of the state of things in Nimbo community.
That probe into the publication revealed that it is not only false but baseless and aimed at underscoring the effort of the state government as well as that of the security Agencies put in place to restore normalcy and to ensure that there is lasting peace not only in Nimbo but other communities in the state.
The commissioner of police Cp Emmanuel Ojukwu who has severally visited the community and its environs to reassure them since assumption of duty in the state on receipt of the misleading report, quickly contacted his security operatives on duty at Nimbo community where he got a report that the area is still peaceful and that there is no trace of fulani herdsmen since after the ugly incident.
The Area commander Nsukka Zone and the Dpo Adani in charge of Nimbo who also confirmed that there is no trace of herdsmen in the area since after the ugly incident of 25/4/16. Also contacted was the traditional ruler of Nimbo community HRH IGWE John Akor and the chairman of Uzouwani local Government Area Cornel Onwubuya who maintained that the area is peaceful and there has not been any trace of Fulani Herdsmen and their cattle since after the ugly incident and wondered why there should be such publication.
However to ensure that things were not taking for granted, the heads of fulani/herdsmen communities were summoned to this effect and in his reaction, Bala Ardo the general secretary maintained that fulani herdsmen since after the incident at Nimbo have not gone to the area and its environs as he maintained that it will be morally wrong for them to go back to the area when the community is still nursing injuries of their lost ones. He openly stated that he is sure that his people cannot go there but assured that he has been working with the security Agencies and Government with his fulani herdsmen leadership group to foster peace in the state.
The state command based on this,have enjoined members of the public to be going about their normal lawful businesses and regard the publication as baseless and unfounded since there is no reported issue of such before the command nor trace of fulani herdsmen in Nimbo community as presented by the reporter. The command also viewed such publication as malicious and misleading as it is capable of generating tension, rancour, bitterness between people in the state.
The command has mobilized its security apparatus to fish out those in the habit of spreading false and dangerous rumour in the state and bring them to book while also advising reporters to obey the conduct of conduct and ethics of journalism profession. Members of the public with any useful information are also enjoined to report promptly to the law enforcement Agencies for appriopriate action rather than engaging themselves in rumours that are misleading and unfounded.

The CEO of Megalextrics, owners of Beat FM and Classic FM, Chris Ubosi is reportedly suing Rihanna and Jay Z over a 2013 canceled concert in Nigeria . This is according to TMZ . But Rihanna’s management is saying they had no dealings whatsoever with the company. Read the report below..
“Rihanna flaked on a show she was scheduled to perform at in Nigeria, even though she’d already received a fat chunk of her payday … according to the guy who booked her for the gig — but Rihanna is claiming BS.
Chris Ubosi and his company, Megalectrics, are suing RiRi over a 2013 concert that never happened. Ubosi says he struck a deal with 2 people who claimed to rep Rihanna, as well as her label Roc Nation and Jay Z . Rihanna would get $425,000 to play for 65 minutes.
The show was supposed to go down in May — and Ubosi says he made 3 payments, totaling $160k … but then her camp asked to postpone the show. Ubosi says he agreed, but only IF Rihanna posted the new date on social media.
In the suit, he says that never happened so Megalectrics pulled the plug, and demanded its money back. Since Ubosi didn’t get the cash, he’s suing Rihanna, Jay Z and Roc Nation for the dough.
Sources close to Rihanna tell us her management knew nothing about the gig and the singer never collected a dime. Her people believe Ubosi is a victim of a scam.
A rep for Roc Nation tells TMZ … “Rihanna, Roc Nation nor anyone associated personally or professionally with either party was in contact with this person. Unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor Roc Nation collected no money for this event.”

Following the news of the retrenchment of 200 staff of Skye bank today, the federal government has released a statement threatening to sanction banks and telecommunication companies, that fail to comply with its order to suspend retrenchment. FG on June 4th, prevailed on Banks and Insurance companies to halt retrenchment exercises for now due to the hard economic realities.
The Minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige gave the warning at the 105th session of the International Labour Congress (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland today June 7th.
“The federal government gave the licences to the banks to operate and if its directives are not adhered to the licences will be withdrawn if the need arises. We will go a step further if they continue. We know what to do. They need to comply. They need to come to the negotiation table. We halted the spate of sack in the oil industry and we succeeded. Even if you are going to lay off, there is a way to declare redundancy, there is a process. Section 20 of the labour act says it. You must call the unions and discuss with them. You don’t just treat them as slaves in their own country and you want us to keep quiet. We want them to maintain the status quo. As far as I am the minister of labour, I will protect the interest of workers; same to the telecommunication companies, they are also talking about compiling lists without discussing with anybody.”

In an interview with Bloomberg TV this morning, former President Goodluck Jonathan, said he is aware he is being investigated for corruption in Nigeria. Asked if he was aware that he is being investigated, Jonathan said

“Of course, obviously we would be investigated and I am being investigated. Yes, investigations are going on”]/b] he said
He says he wouldn’t want to comment on whether the investigators would find anything incriminating. [b]
“I wouldn’t want to comment on certain things because when a government is working, it is not proper for the immediate past president to make certain statements. I would allow the government to do the work they are supposed to do. After all the investigations, the whole story would be properly chronicled” he said
Jonathan, said he doesn’t feel liable for the poor state of the Nigerian economy.
“No. You see the economy of Nigeria somehow depends on oil and at anytime that oil prices drop, it affects the economy significantly in terms of its contribution to the GDP” he said
On the assumption that he left an empty treasury, Jonathan said
“That is not true. There is no way he would have inherited empty treasury and at the same time give bailout to the states. It is not possible. Nigeria is a fairly robust economy. but sometimes we over politicize certain issues and make it look so bad but it was not that bad”.
