What is Gobir Farmers Support Project?

Gobir Farmers Support Project is an initiative of The Gobir Organization Foundation, as part of the effort of Waziri Yakubu Gobir to support agriculture development in Kwara State, through provision of tractors and other farm inputs for Kwara farmers.

How can I benefit from the Gobir Farmers Support Project?

Potential beneficiaries of the Gobir Farmers Support Project can obtain registration forms (free) from The Gobir Organization Foundation (GOF) office at No 6 Asa Road, GRA Ilorin or at Agric House, Sango Road Ilorin, Kwara State.

How can I get Gobir tractors to work on my farm?

The Gobir Organization Foundation is giving out tractors to Kwara farmers at a subsidized rate. Interested registered farmers would pay subsidized amounts for fueling and maintenance of the tractors during operations.

The Desk Officer at The Gobir Organization Foundation will allocate drivers and track the movement of the tractors.

What about the Gobir Smart Farm Project?

The Gobir Smart Farm Project is targeted at Young Farmers in Kwara State (Gobir Young Farmers). 300 hectares of land have been acquired for the implementation of the project. The project will take off immediately the COVID-19 lockdown is relaxed.

Interested Young Farmers for the Gobir Smart Farm Project can also obtain the registration form (free) at The Gobir Organization Foundation (GOF) office at No 6 Asa Road, GRA Ilorin or at Agric House, Sango Road Ilorin.

A date would be announced for the training of Young Farmers, and the model of the Gobir Smart Farms would be unveiled at the training before setting out the farms.

What brought about this idea?

Waziri Yakubu Gobir believes that Kwara State can become the food basket of Nigeria, if our hardworking farmers get adequate support.

He has travelled around the state and interacted with many farmers. He discovered that inadequate access to modern farming techniques & equipment are the main impediments to their success.

He therefore decided to acquire 300 hectares of farmland in Moro LGA, brand new tractors and other farm inputs to support Kwara farmers.

A gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019 general elections in Kwara State, Waziri Yakubu Gobir has described the Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as a consummate administrator, a great party mobilizer, dogged political strategist and an amiable leader.

In a Birthday greeting released by Waziri Gobir, he said "I regard our party chairman as a man of great political sagacity, maturity and presence of mind. These are attributes necessary for a good political leader."

On the auspicious occasion of his birthday, l join thousands of our party faithfuls, his family, friends and teeming associates to wish him many more years of service to our party, and I pray to Almighty Allah to continue to grant him good health, wealth and happiness to witness many more wonderful years ahead.”

Waziri also used the opportunity to congratulate all Muslims for the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan. He urged all Muslims to imbibe the virtues of piety, self restraint and compassion for the needy during the month of Ramadan.

He appealed to Almighty Allah to show us compassion in this month of Ramadan, to forgive our sins, accept our supplications and relieve us from the Covid-19 pandemic that is currently ravaging the world.

THE VANITY SIDE OF LIFE

I remember 1999 vividly, I remember Eagle Square and what happened there on the 29th of May, 1999. 20 years after, so many things have happened.

From Eagle Square where power changed hands in 1999, I have seen many who were present on that day but today, have been forgotten in idle permanent homes of their graves.

I remember how Nelson Mandela walked into the venue and the ovation that followed and with my same eyes I saw him in a casket.
In my eyes Stella Obasanjo rose to affluence and influence and with my eyes I saw her being driven out of power in a casket.

In my eyes Desire Kabilla who was also at Eagle Square fell to the bullets of his bodyguard in DR Congo. A former minister of Health, Prof Ransome Kuti was buried.

In my eyes Chuba Okadigbo rose, fell and died. Abubakar Rimi and Alex Ekwueme who contested a Presidential primaries with incumbent Obasanjo in 2003 at the same Eagle Square had their funerals organized.

In my eyes, "almighty" Tony Aneni laid in-state helplessly in Benin. Prof Dora Akunyili, the strong woman who was everywhere, fell on a street of India.

In my eyes, "Evil Genius" begin to wear canvass on an agbada on a wheelchair in Minna as he watches life without his once powerful wife, Maryam.

In my eyes Edwin Ume Ezeoke was buried, Gen. Victor Malu's obituary was in the news.

In my eyes, a Sultan fell from the sky, the remains of the owner of Bolingo Hotel was seen at Lisa village.

In my eyes Bola Ige fell, Suntai crashed and died, once landlords of Plateau and Taraba, Dariye and Nyame walked into prisons.

In my eyes, almighty Olabode George went and came out of prisons. Justice Salami heard the news of the death of Justice Katsina Alu.

In my eyes, a Landlord fell in Kwara and a strongman won election in Kogi but never lived to hear his victory announcement.

In my eyes, Azazi reigned and fell, Yakowa never lived to tell a story. Oronto Douglas who was once a powerful man behind the throne was buried.

In my eyes, Yar'adua came and fizzled out of power like two of his ministers.

In my eyes, Solomon Lar that sat that day as PDP Chairman, a symbol of power and affluence was buried on a plateau.

In my eyes, I saw strong men rise and fall very cheaply.

If this writeup should teach us anything, let it be known that power is transient.

God gives who he wants to give. He says "I will have mercy on who I want to have mercy on".

To those of you today in power, where would you be in the next twenty years?

In 2039 when names like Buhari, Atiku, Amaechi, Wike, Saraki, Ekweremadu, Tambuwal, Mark, Dave, Onu, Oshomole, Tinubu are mentioned what would that child write about them then?

As we approach life, especially these elections, have it in mind that POLITICAL POWER IS NOT PERMANENT.

THIS SAME POWER HAS CONSUMED MEN, DESTROYED MARRIAGES, CUT SHORT DREAMS, ENDED RELATIONSHIPS, BETRAYED TRUSTS AND KILLED FELLOW HUMANS... Is it worth dying for?

GOBIR SALUTES EMIR @ 80, SAYS HIS LIFE IS TRULY BLESSED

A prominent son of Ilorin and the Waziri Hausa, Waziri Yakubu Gobir has congratulated His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, on his 80th Birthday Anniversary.

Waziri Gobir said, we must continue to pray to Allah to grant our Emir sound health, prosperity and wisdom. There is no doubt that that our Emir's reign has brought peace and harmony to the Emirate. This is evidenced by the large number of people from various parts of Nigeria who now call Ilorin home. It has attracted tremendous investment and development to Ilorin and Kwara State in general.

Maimartaba the Emir of Ilorin's 80th birthday is one that should have been celebrated with fanfare as he joins the Octogenarians club. However, due to the current scourge of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Emir has asked us all to join him in praying to Almighty Allah to forgive our sins, and heal the land.

GOBIR EULOGIZES EMIR OF ILORIN ON PALLIATIVES, DONATES 2.5 MILLION NAIRA.

A prominent son of the Ilorin Emirate and the Waziri Hausa, Waziri Yakubu Gobir has commended the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Mai Martaba, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR, on his efforts to relieve families in Ilorin from the hardship brought about by the Covid-19 lockdown.

Waziri, whose foundation distributed food worth over 20 Million Naira to residents of Kwara State earlier this month, said “it is imperative to support our respected Emir, on this brilliant initiative, particularly because the holy month of Ramadan and obligatory fasting will start in a few days." Alhaji Gobir donated 2.5 Million Naira, and enjoined all other well meaning individuals to also contribute in any way they can.

Waziri Yakubu Gobir, a grandson of the first Waziri of Ilorin noted that the role of Traditional Institutions and Traditional Rulers can never be over emphasized, saying they are the closest to the people, thus, they know how best to assist them.

He applauded the Emir, for the kind gesture and prayed that almighty Allah should reward him abundantly, and grant him the strength and long life to continue to move the entire Emirate forward. Waziri Gobir then prayed that Almighty Allah should accept our supplications in the month of Ramadan, forgive us, and save us from the scourge of the COVID - 19 virus.

The death of Abba Kyari should be a great lesson to all the politicians that we are all mortals who are here on earth to make our purpose and go back to the creator . Who had ever envisage that Almighty Abba Kyari will die soon! May his soul rest in peace

Kwara APC gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019 general elections Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has appealed to religious leaders and worshipers to continue to respect one another's differences and to embrace everybody - rich or poor, Christian or Muslim.

In a statement released by his Director of Strategy and Communications, Mr. Charles Olufemi Folayan, Waziri Gobir felicitates with Christians for this year's Easter celebrations. He said, one of the most beautiful things in the world today is the diversity of religion. Therefore, it is imperative for us to respect one another and accommodate differences at all times.

He noted that the challenges facing the world today especially the recent outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, affects everyone irrespective of race, culture or religion. This further tells us that we are one world and must live together in peace and care for each other as one family.

Gobir Foundation Donates Land, Tractors and other inputs to support Kwara Farmers.

The Founder of the Gobir Organization Foundation Waziri Yakubu Gobir has acquired two Tractors, 300 hectares of Farmland and other farm inputs for farmers in Kwara State.

Speaking to Journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday 8th April, 2020. Following the inauguration of project committee for the Gobir Farmers Support Project last week, which also features the presentation of the two brand new tractors and other farm inputs purchased by Waziri Yakubu Gobir. The Director of Information and Strategy of the Gobir Organization Foundation Mr. Charles Olufemi Folayan, noted that the committee comprises of members of Agric Union in Kwara State, the Kwara Youth Stakeholders Forum, Agriculture Experts and Community leaders.

He said, the committee would begin full implementation of the project with the existing Farmers in the state immediately after the expiration of the lock down, imposed by the Government as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee would also commence registration of interested young farmers (Gobir Young Farmers) across the State, to participate in the Gobir Smart Farms Project, initiated by the Founder Waziri Yakubu Gobir as one of his efforts at reducing unemployment in the State.

He said the Gobir Smart Farm Project is aimed at supporting Young Farmers with incentives needed to practice world class agriculture in a conducive environment. And also to make available opportunities for them to access local and international markets for their products.

He urged the youth to embrace this initiative and build their economic strength in line with the economic realities of the country and the Diversification programs of the Federal Government.

A very good gesture, it can only be done by a young and vibrant young man.
