The Southeast Catholic Bishops has accused Buhari led government of disarming people who are defending themselves and their lands, while protecting the Fulanis who go about killing people, destroying farmlands and raping women.

Yesterday supporters of Fr Ejike Mbaka violently broke into the diocesan cathedral church, desecrated the altar, which is considered a sacrilege in the Catholic church. They also vandalised the bishop's residence, the diocesan secretariat and the cathedral parish.

Therefore the bishop has declared one week of prayer in all parishes, chaplaincies and religious communities in the diocese.

The diocese also disputed the claim that Mbaka was being punished for criticizing President Bihari, citing that the Catholic Bishops Conference have been at the forefront of criticizing Buhari's administration. An example was the prayer protest which was organised in the diocese, at which Mbaka was absent, citing that his fellow priests were merely doing exercise.

Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, NDDC executive director projects, has provided a list of emergency contact worth 3 trillion naira awarded to the chairmen of NDDC in both the Senate and House of Rep between 2016 and 2019.
