Ellexy: You guys have been dodging this question.... What does this Gakpo bring to the table which we don't have in abundance? What exactly? Apart from bn left footed, what does Antony bring to the table? The same useless Gakpo dusted him in Eredivisie, won Holland player of the season, carrying/captaining PSV. What has Antony achieved that made you think he's good enough? |

Karleb: You don't need Gakpo?
Rashford and Martial have been in this club for how many years? How many goals do they guarantee per year. How many points have they won? How many important games have they shown their brilliancies and won compared to their age mates in other leagues?
The Martial + Rashford ship has sailed. Man Utd no be their papa house. Man Utd fans and over-analysis, Imagine people mentioning Elanga and Amad as options. Lol Martial as CF. lmao |

Ellexy: Yes we don't need Gakpo. Have you actually watched him? He's worse than Rashford not even better than Elanga , there's nothing he has in skillset that we don't already have in abundance, he plays on the left, a position we have players in excess.
I'm struggling to see where he'll even play on the first team or improve the team. Maybe for depth purposes but I'll rather give those minutes to Garnacho or if Ronaldo leaves he can be deputising for Martial as a striker it in that scenario I even prefer Depay to him.
He'll be a waste of money simple. Worst than Rashford and not better than Elanga? I have watched him so many times, don't compare him with Shalanga or this out-of-form Rashford. |

After chasing Sancho for 2 years, I'm shocked he wasn't signed for the RW position again. For Antony, nothing special in his game and he's not worth 80-100m. Even Van De Bench playing as a midfielder had more than 8 G/A in Eredivisie. |

Jodera: What he did wasn't wrong in at all but like Patrick says, he should thank his lucky star that it was a calm Salah that approached him. If na rugged player and a fiasco ensue, he'll be carded for that fiasco he was involved in and who started it or who was right or wrong won't be considered. So it's a big risk he took seeing that he was on Yellow ard. He knows he's on a yellow, he won't take part in any melee/fight, he just held onto the ball....nothing more. He's not a goalkeeper, so you don't have the right to take the ball from him. When the ref intervened, he left the ball with Bruno and asked Firminho and Salah to step aside.

patrickmuf: If Salah had been more forceful, maybe they'd have ended up pulling themselves which would have seen both get carded...This isn't about Bruno, I have seen teams who are chasing a goal rush a goal keeper for picking up the ball after pulling one back and the goalie is always punished if a fiasco results from his reluctance to release the ball... 30 seconds -1 minute is always allocated for goal celebration and game restart, so nothing like time wasting from Bruno. He picked the ball first, any yellow card there will go the person trying to force the ball off him. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Expert17: 9:33am On Aug 24, 2022 |
patrickmuf: That was a stupid move, he was lucky it was Salah and not another players who would have been more aggressive thus creating a scene that could have warranted the ref to act...
He was on a yellow so, it was not necessary... Funny you guys don't even know the rule of football If Liverpool was winning, will Salah rush to the ball? Who was meant to restart? who should pick the ball from the net? Bruno picked the ball as we are meant to restart and Salah blocked and tried to force the ball from him, so he should have allowed Salah?? |

JayromWrites: I think United needed that breather
Liverpool were on the ascendancy even before the goal.
Yeah it was cynical and risky but not worth dragging really Its our ball, so I don't get where the yellow card will come from. Maybe the fans want him to rush the restart so Liverpool could build on that momentum. |

afrodoc2: He was already on a yellow card. A ref with brain touch could have given him a 2nd yellow card.
In every thing in life one must apply wisdom. Time that the ref can easily add back on the clock is not worth a 2nd yellow card. Impossible. No ref will give a yellow card for such. We are to restart the game, and our player hv the right to take the ball and walk back to the center. |

Any reason Michael Owen and Aguero didnt make it despite scoring more EPL goals overall than Crouch 53-headed goals in 450+ appearances, with all that height, that's poor. I am sure he attacked over 5000 corners/set-pieces/cross...I was expecting over 1000 headed goals since it's by height |

Illimitable: So he’s at fault for doing nothing
If he did something and the goal was conceded then his effort would have made Michael Oliver disallow the goal? If he had covered up for Milner or positioned properly, Sancho won't have had enough space and time to pick a spot or pass. |

Illimitable: Milner is an idiöt.
There was no reason to commit that much to a shot. Alisson would have saved from there.
He should have trusted his goalie. If Milner stood his ground, Sancho would have been in trouble but his slide gave Sancho all the space in the world to cause further damage. True, Milner underrated Sancho's brilliance. But if VVD had charged immediately Sancho made that cut, I am sure he would have intercepted or force him to make a wrong decision. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Expert17: 5:19pm On Aug 23, 2022 |
Illimitable: Sancho that had enough intelligence to do a chop in that situation? He’s a deceitful snake. That chop murdered Liverpool and VVD couldn’t have seen Alisson had been murdered behind him.
VVD was trusting his keeper to be at alert. All VVD could do was hold his ground and put himself between the ball and the goal. Bruno was ONside and if he had closed down Sancho, Sancho would pass to Bruno and the situation would have been turned to “why did VVD vacate his position?”
And as you can see, VVD wasn’t far off from blocking the shot. It was the right decision to hold his ground, Pundits just look for an individual to blame in situations like this when it was the entire defensive system at fault. Pundits? why was Milner furious? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Expert17: 5:09pm On Aug 23, 2022 |
Illimitable: Alisson had been murdered by the dummy. Look at Alisson still on the floor at the time Sancho had brought the ball back to his left foot. The reaction time of a goal keeper is less than 2 seconds, so Alisson still have a chance of saving any ball down the middle or to his right. Sancho looked up Changed his feet Bruno was shouting and pointing. Guess what, VVD was still at the same spot. This is Sancho with just 3 goals in EPL, engage him. He might make a mistake. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Expert17: 5:00pm On Aug 23, 2022 |
Illimitable: If he stayed at the blue mark, Sancho is good enough to put the shot between the space between VVD & Alisson.
Their entire defensive structure collapsed when Trent allowed Elanga to make that cross. Anything else is just passing the blame.
There’s nothing VVD could have done to prevent that goal unless Sancho skied the shot over the bar by being a useless player. The point is VVD didn't do enough. Sancho scoring or missing is another topic entirely. He gave Sancho time (not engaging) and space. Alison will most likely save any shot to the middle, so he should have moved to the left more. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Expert17: 4:48pm On Aug 23, 2022 |
Illimitable: Van Dijk is being unfairly criticized.
The entire Liverpool structure had fallen apart when Trent allowed Elanga to run behind and put the cross.
VVD was literally caught between standing his ground to block the shot or charging towards Sancho.
He didn’t know Alisson had dived behind him and if he had charged at Sancho, Sancho would have passed to Bruno to tap into the empty net. Nope, he should have engaged Sancho or stay at the blue spot below.

BoomBucks: It's called football for a reason; the reason is that it's played on the ground not in the air. Though this can be done in the air too when you meet teams who play negative football Iike Burnley and Stoke city.
Franco Baresi is considered by many as the greatest defender of all time. At just 5ft9, this man played in the era where teams played with tall traditional #9 and was excellent.
Height is great no doubt but it's not the hallmark for a defender. If it's by height then players like Hangeland, Matersacker, Dan Burn, Kris Ajer, Naldo, Jannik Vastergaard, Adam Casey, Yerry Mina, Metzelder would've been world beaters.
I mean the only defender to win world best was just 5ft9 (Canavaro). Even Mascherano at 5ft9 was on the pitch when Barca won their 4th and 5th UCL.
Puyol, Alaba, Canavaro, Baresi, Beckenbauer all under 5ft11 but top class.
Put the "tall" Maguire in Martinez position against Liverpool yesterday and watch chaos at its very best.
Like I said, height is always going to be an advantage but never the end, just a means to an end. Apt. This height merchants are the same set of people who believe that as a DM you must have muscle and be very fast Football is 90% brain work. |
