Millions of people around the world are celebrating the start of the new year with elaborate fireworks displays. Dubai was the latest city to ring in the New Year although it did not opt for the conventional fireworks display due to 'security reasons', instead opting for an impressive world-record breaking laser show. The world's tallest building was emblazoned with the 'Year of Zayed', who was the former president of the United Arab Emirates. He held onto the post for 33 years and passed away in 2004. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5224423/Countries-world-celebrate-New-Year.html

Many happy couples around the world will be celebrating after getting engaged over the Christmas period, but few brides-to-be will have received a sparkler like this under the Christmas tree. Alexa Dell, 24, whose billionaire father Michael is the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies got engaged yesterday and has proudly been flaunting her 12 carat emerald cut diamond set in a pavé halo on social media. The heiress, whose father is worth an estimated $23.5 billion and is the 37th richest man in the world, couldn't hide her delight, captioning a video of the glittering jewel: 'He did good'. And it's no wonder she's happy with the efforts of her boyfriend Harrison Refoua, 40, given the ring could be worth a staggering $3M. Hamish Shephard, Founder of Bridebook.co.uk, the leading wedding planning app and website told Femail: 'A 12-carat diamond engagement ring would likely start from $500,000, but could easily cost several million dollars based on its cut and brilliance. This engagement ring most likely cost in the range of$2-3million. 'The art collector and branding consultant was presented with the eye-popping diamond during a candlelit dinner on the beach at The Four Seasons in Kona, Hawaii, which is owned by her father. Alexa has been dating millionaire real estate investor Harrison for a year after being set up on a blind date by mutual friends, following the breakdown of her relationship with Tinder CEO Sean Rad. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5217625/Dell-heiress-flaunts-12-carat-engagement-ring.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

A man in Taiwan was reportedly rushed to hospital on Boxing Day after his wife chewed off one of his testicles during an aggressive lovemaking session. When paramedics arrived at the couple's home, they apparently saw the man, surnamed Wang, wearing a robe and holding his severed testicle in a rice bowl while the wife repeatedly explained: 'I accidentally bit it off!' Taiwan news website Apple Daily reported that the mans' right ball had been ripped off by his wife surnamed Hsieh. Hsieh called an ambulance to the home at around 2am on December 26. Apple Daily reported that Wang works at a car repair shop. He and Hsieh have married for many years and have two children. Despite his agony and panic the man managed to retrieve his right ball after it was ripped off by his over eager wife. Paramedics said the panicking couple were waiting for them at the entrance of their flat in Taichung City in West Taiwan. Wang was taken to Tungs' Taichung Metro Harbor Hospital where he was treated by Lu Li-hua, the supervisor of ER. Lu said the patient's scrotum was sutured, but his right testicle was not reattached for fear of an infection. Images circulating in Taiwan media apparently shows the man being taken to an ambulance. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5223769/wife-bites-off-husbands-ball-testicle-sex-taiwan/
