The Joneses documented the abuse they heaped on Adrian with dozens of pictures.

This injury came after they jabbed him with a broomstick.

A close-up of Adrian's lips, covered with angry sores, caused, investigators believe, because he had tried to chew away at his plywood prison.

Adrian was forced to stand in the shallow end of the Jones's filthy swimming pool for hours on end with water up to his neck.

FamilyFather Totured 7yrs Old Son, Bound Him To Cutting Boards&Fed Him To Pigs(Photos) by Explorers(op):
A Kansas man has been sentenced to life in prison Monday for the killing of his 7-year-old son, who authorities say was subjected to horrific abuse and was “essentially starved to death” before his remains were found in the family's pig sty.

Michael Jones, a 46-year-old former bail bondsman from Kansas City, pleaded guilty in March to first-degree murder in the 2015 death of his son, Adrian Jones.

He was sentenced on Monday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

Adrian Jones had 'a smile that would light up a room.' said his grandmother, Judy Conway.

But at the hands of his father and stepmother, the 7-year-old was tortured to death, with images of his horror caught on the couple's surveillance camera.

His stepmother called him 'the boy,' rather than use his given name.

While she and Adrian's father cared for their six girls, he was singled out for abuse of the worst kind.

And even in death, there was one last indignity, instead of a proper burial, the seven-year-old was fed to pigs his father had bought specifically for the purpose of getting rid of his emaciated body.

The Ice Runway is one of three major airstrips used to haul supplies and researchers to Antarctica's McMurdo Station.

As its name implies, there are no paved runways here just long stretches of ice and snow that are meticulously groomed.

Why It's Unique:

There is no shortage of space on the Ice Runway, so super-size aircraft like the C-130 Hercules and the C-17 Globemaster III can land with relative ease.

The real challenge is making sure that the weight of the aircraft and cargo doesn't bust the ice or get the plane stuck in soft snow.

As the ice of the runway begins to break up, planes are redirected to Pegasus Field or Williams Field, the two other airstrips servicing the continent.

Gibraltar International Airport, British Overseas Territory.

Government of Gibraltar Chances are you’ve never driven a car across an airport runway because well it’s unnecessary and usually illegal.

But if you frequently travel to a little place called Gibraltar, located off the tip of the Iberian Peninsula, and aren’t flying to/from the UK, you don’t have much choice.

This is because the Gibraltar International Airport only services flights to and from the UK.

The only road that connects Gibraltar to mainland crosses through Gibraltar’s airport runway.

To prevent a nasty collision between car and plane, gates stop cars from crossing the runway during plane takeoffs and landings.

Courchevel Airport, France.

A 1,700-foot strip of tarmac, located 6,000 feet above sea level on a slope in the French Alps, serves as the only airport in the ski-happy town of Courchevel.

Built in 1961, the runway, which bizarrely rises uphill and then dangerously dips downhill, is not only notorious for its dodgy setup, but also for its appearance in the James Bond movie, "Tomorrow Never Dies."

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Georgia.

If you ever find yourself taxiing along Runway 10 at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, you may catch a glimpse of something so out of place it will make you do a double take.

Embedded into the tarmac of Runway 10 is a pair of grave markers.

The previous property owners, Catherine and Richard Dotson, used the land that the airport now sits on for a cemetery.

The Dotsons died in the late 1880’s and were both buried in the cemetery.

Years later, as WWII approached, the military decided to convert the cemetery into an airport for training purposes and moved all of the bodies in the cemetery to another one; however, to honor family wishes, the military left the grave markers of Catherine and Richard behind.

TravelWorld's Strangest And Oddest Airports (Photos). by Explorers(op):
Typically, when we travel, we use the airport as a means to get to the main attraction.

But sometimes an airport is so bizarre that it is the main attraction.

Whether it’s because of size, location or other features, we found airports that are so wacky, weird and unusual that they require more than just a pass-through.
