Physical. Shaolin Monks believe that once they have trained their minds to achieve the level of focus necessary to harness their Chi, their physical movements are limited only by their imaginations. They are capable of extraordinary feats when it comes to their Kung Fu skills. The course of a Shaolin Monk’s physical training will carry them from straightforward tasks, in the beginning, into ever-increasingly complexity, cresting with seemingly impossible trials of physical strength, agility and flexibility. A Shaolin Monk is not allowed to progress to the next level of his training until he has mastered what he has already been taught. A Bamboo Leaf. This technique trains a Shaolin Monk to use his palms to deadly effect. After continuous training of striking hard objects with both hands, the monk is left with exceptionally strengthened palms. Once he is able to break these objects, he has mastered the attack and is capable of causing terrific damage on opponents. Raising a Weight of 1000 Jins. This technique trains the strength of the forefinger, thumb and middle finger, specifically the insides of the fingers. Shaolin Monks train to do this by holding heavy objects for hours using only these parts of their bodies. This eventually enables them to press holes through wooden boards and inflict similar wounds on opponents. Method of Hardness and Softness. The name of this technique reveals that it is an equal combination of both Chan (meditative power) and Quan (physical power). Shaolin Monks train to utilize this technique by making fists that grip paper bundles during combat exercises. It is said that this technique can fling men great distances and is especially useful against multiple opponents Striking with Foot This is a simple but nonetheless powerful attack. When mastered, it is possible for a Shaolin Monk to strike opponents so they are flung great distances. They train to do this by striking small stones in mid-air with their kicks.

Iron Head Tie Tou Gong There is a reason head-butting is forbidden in sports such as mixed martial arts, the risk of traumatic brain injuries. The iconic Shaolin “Iron Head,” however not only recommends these sort of blows but prescribes them as a regular training regimen. Students strengthen the frontal bones, temporal bones, and top of the skull to a near superhuman rigidity, rivaling that of stone. The objective is fairly basic: Knock objects into your head, and your head into objects slowly and gradually over years to strengthen the bones in the skull. With dozens of micro fractures, combined with healing and repetition, the bones reshape to the pressure, and can become incredibly resilient. However, this can take dozens of years of daily practice to achieve, eachtime with the risk of permanent injury. The first basic training regimen recommended in the methodology of the Shaolin involves wrapping one’s head in silk and gently banging the head against a stone wall. After one year, the student will remove a few layers of silk and continue the process for a minimum of 100 days, after that, the silk is removed completely. From here, students will practice with more extreme methods, such as knocking their skulls together for hours, cracking frozen blocks atop their heads, and even sleeping in headstand positions. Specific exercises and techniques to strengthen the temples, mouth, and eyes follow this technique as well.

Ringing Round A Tree. Bao Shu Gong A student will require an unusual training partner for this study a fully grown tree. The exercise is simple enough; wrap one’s arms around the tree, and pull until your energy is entirely expended. After the first year, progress will begin to show. The first step to mastery is the ability to shake loose a few leaves of the tree.Another year of the student shaking leaves from the tree must pass the same intensity, without stopping. The student must continue throughout their life with this practice, only reaching masteryonce they have completely uprooted the tree. Even the small trees used for this training requires immense, constant force over the course of years to loosen the roots. If a master of this practice ever clasps his opponent as he does the tree fatal injury can occur easily.

Shaolin spear balance. In this photo, a Shaolin monk is balanced on row of spears, with afew other monks below him. This very difficult feat would normally skewer someone completely, but in this case, it doesn’t. We might wonder why, but we read that many kung fu practitioners train for years to strengthen and optimize certain parts of their body so that they can withstand tremendous force and pressure.

The monks at the Shaolin temple in China are required to run up and down the ancient stone stairways of the temple on all fours every morning. This isonly one of many traditional strength and conditioning exercises. The monks are also expected to do more familiar exercises such as situps and knuckle pushups. In addition, they spend several hours of each day practicing the ancient sets or drill sequences of Shaolin kung fu. Although these sets contain the fighting techniques of the Shaolin arts, they also contribute to the excellent physical condition of the monks.

They practice techniques centered around balance, strength, endurance, and self defense.

As Shaolin monks believe the strength comes only from the mind, there are almost no limits to what can be done with their bodies during the trainings.

Foot Kicking. If someone has ever told you to “go and kick rocks or tree,” it probably was not in a pleasant way. That exact activity, however, is step one to this Shaolin discipline. Anyone who has, accidentally or otherwise, lost the inertia battle to a heavy object knows the toe-shattering pain it can cause. Zu she gong belongs to the hard force of yang, and students will begin training this technique by kicking small rocks like soccer balls in bare feet. The purpose of this mastery is to develop the strength and resilience of one’s foot, until kicking a pillow would feel the same as kicking a boulder. In combat, it is said in Shaolin texts that one will be able to kick an opponent as far as the stones one trains with. Such a hardened, developed kick to the lower portion of the body immediately shatters the opponent’s balance. A kick such as this to the head could easily be deadly. It usually from kicking a banana tree till you break it.

Drive a nail into a plank of wood, then remove it with three fingers. A student will practice this for months. If one can remove the nail easily with the thumb, forefinger, and middle finger, then one can progress to removing the nail with the thumb, ring, and pinky finger. Immeasurable strength from even the weakest appendages is a true axiom of Shaolin training. Every finger on both hands must be trained to produce large bursts of strength as well as matching muscular endurance. Over time, the nails are driven deeper into the wood. When this becomes easy, the wood is dampened before the nails are inserted, and they are allowed torust. An advanced student in this technique would train by removing rusted nails driven in to the hilt with two fingers, or perhaps one. The fingers of the student must possess the strength to depress the wood itself to successfully remove the nail. Upon mastery, the fingers will be strengthened enough to take on more difficult techniques, such as the Diamond Finger.

Stretching. Flexibility is extremely important in Shaolin kung fu, because many of the advanced kung fu sets cannot be performed without it. From the beginning of training, the Shaolin system builds flexibility through the use of stretchingexercises, many of which would seem extreme and even dangerous by Western standards. Students are forced into deep stances that are sometimes very painful, and the instructor uses his body weight to push the student even further into the split or stretch. These exercises are often described as being tortuous by former Shaolin students, but they are the foundation of the unusual skills displayed by the Shaolin monks. Shaolin kung fu has always been known for promoting extraordinary skills and abilities through its punishing traditional exercises. These exercises are significantly different than modern athletic training, and most martial arts outside of the Shaolin tradition have nothing in their systems like the Shaolin exercises. http://www.bbncommunity.com/how-shaolin-monks-develop-their-mental-and-physical-mastery/ http://listverse.com/2017/03/29/10-actual-practices-of-the-shaolin-that-will-blow-your-mind/ http://themindunleashed.com/2014/07/awe-inspiring-pictures-shaolin-monks-training.html http://www.livestrong.com/article/542307-ancient-shaolin-physical-training-exercises/

Anacondas are the largest and heaviest known snakes. They can be found in tropical rainforests, lakes and swamps of South America. Anacondas are especially numerous near Amazon and Orinoco rivers. There are 4 types of anacondas. Although they are large in size, scientists can't find them easily because they hide in the water. People hunt anacondas because of their skin which is highly appreciated in the fashion industry. Luckily, they are not endangered. Anaconda can be 30 feet long (like a school bus) and weigh up to 550 pounds (like 11 kids). Females are larger than males. Anacondas grow constantly their entire life. They are usually dark green in color, have 2 rows of black spots on their back and white marks on the sides. Anaconda hunts on the ground and in the water, but it spends most of its life in the water where it moves more easily. When it is in the water, whole body, except nostrils (which are located on the top of its head), is submerged. Anaconda can stay under water for 10 minutes before it comes to the surface to grab some air. They like to eat fish, turtles, caimans, capybaras, pigs, jaguars, deer. When they hunt smaller meal, they eat up to 40 pounds of food per day. Large meal will keep snake satiated few weeks and it will not eat during that time. Anaconda is not a venomous snake. It uses strong and muscular body to kill its prey. Like other constrictors, anaconda will grab its victim, wrap its body around the prey and squeeze it until it dies from suffocation. They capable of squeezing a full grown tiger to death. When animal dies, anaconda swallows whole prey in one piece. They can regurgitate if threatened (vomit swallowed prey). Anaconda is nocturnal animal, which means that it hunts during the night. April and may are reserved for mating. Six months later, female anaconda gives birth to 20-40 young anacondas. Babies are 2 feet long and they are capable for individual life from the moment they are born. Anacondas live 10-12 years in the wild and up to 30 years in captivity. http://www.softschools.com/facts/animals/anaconda_facts/40/ cc: lalasticlala
