Really great photography takes skill, dedication, perseverance, and a little bit of crazy. In order to get just the right angle, lighting, and perspective you’ve got to think, plan and then stop at nothing to make it happen. Some of the world’s craziest photographers won’t let anything get in the way of a perfect photo opportunity, even if that means defying gravity or risking their own safety. At the end of the day it was all worth it so long as they captured the perfect shot. The devotion photographers give to their trade is truly inspiring, as well as a bit jaw dropping at times. But the Op is saying they shut down schools, hospitals, malls and all "everytime" it snows.

It doesnt snow heavily all the time.

These pictures are rare cases and happens once in a while, and it warrants effective measures, but if it has to be everytime it snows, then it means there'd be no activities during winter.

Yea, I dont think it's a major rule by the government to close down schools here like in the US, I think it now depends on individual "elementary" schools to decide whenever there's a snow storm or icy rain.

Cos if they have to close down schools, mall, hospitals every time it snows, then it means closing down the whole place almost during the whole of winter. Which implies that People wont have jobs, people will die and all.

However, I wouldnt know if there are other provinces in Canada that goes along with the US rule.

This is chicago snowcalypse 2011, Chicago was hit by a massive blizzard, the third biggest in the city's recorded history. They'd been forecasting it and issuing blizzard warnings for days before, but still took everyone a little by surprise. Drive became completely impassable, over 500 cars were stranded and people ended up trapped in their cars all night. Blizzard like this can make any country close down.

A ship named Californian was close by when the Titanic sent out distress signals, but the ship’s wireless operator had already gone to bed.

Some crew woke the captain to tell him about the mysterious lights (flares) they saw in the sky, but he issued no orders.

The ship Carpathia picked up all of the survivors.

Some believe that if the Californian had responded, there would have been more survivors.

Remember that scene in the movie where the musicians continued to play while the ship was sinking?

That was true, they actually continued to play for hours. Unfortunately, none of them survived.

Benjamin Guggenheim, an American businessman. Realising that the ship was going down, he and his valet, Victor Giglio, reputedly changed into their evening wear while he remarked: “We've dressed up in our best and are prepared to go down like gentlemen." They were last spotted on deck chairs drinking brandy and smoking cigars.

The movie features 2 hours and 40 minutes of scenes set in 1912. This is the exact amount of time the Titanic took to sink.
