scarplanet:Indeed All Glory is to God Almighty..thank you very much for your encouraging words and prayers. May God bless us all. |
scarplanet:Releasing the list is the first step, PTDF should contact us before the induction. You will be told everything you need to do during or before the induction. Also, if I have any confirmed info before time I will let you people know. |
flyjustice:I tell you, it was hurtful especially since everything I said was coming from a place of love. My biggest joy is that God has vindicated me. Some people even discredited my qualifications because I was honest enough to say I had no publications, others made me subject of mockery insinuating that free school in China is better than mine but what they didn't know is that I graduated from UCL. But I was deeply convinced in my heart that there was hope for me so I waited patiently and I PRAYED. Even about list been released yesterday, they still called me out and mocked me in the process. Here are some facts for those wondering what might have happened: People that applied to both schemes had better chances but since the FGC list was compiled first, those who made it were automatically disqualified for the UK scheme. They now have to consider those that didn't make it for the UK scheme hence the delay in the release of the list. Some people were contacted because the schools needed them to do one or two things. About induction, things have changed since my time. As soon as I have confirmed info I will let you guys know, PTDF will also contact you with detailed information before time. People asking why it is 5days; you will be doing a lot of things in those 5 days dont worry (from lectures on what is expected of you and what you should expect in the country youll be going to, to signing of bonds if any, to getting your award letter), just endeavour to come with all your documents including your international passport. |
kolladey:I didn't get a mail and I made the list. |
flyjustice:You are wrong..your qualification had major impact in your selection. |
SenseiVoyles:Come with ALL your documents. As far as I know, the only test that will be carried out is the TB screening for UK scholars. Different countries have different requirements and I seriously doubt if genotype (non SS) is a prerequisite to obtaining a study visa. |
efomzy:Lol!!! Should I answer or not...If I do I'm not sure you'll believe me oo. |
Bravo121:Go for your job...differ your award till next year and apply for study leave after one year. The only problem I see with that is not knowing whether you'll be granted study leave just after a year of working. Weigh your options carefully and pray for guidance...Congrats. |

I GIVE THE ALMIGHTY GOD ALL PRAISES AND GLORY FOR HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN....I MADE IT. I sincerely hope that we are many with positive news on this thread. I ENJOYED every bit of the "troubling comments" but my God that I bow to has vindicated me FOR HE SAYS BE AND IT IS. My weaknesses couldn't stop my shine. I know some people will still be doubting if the list is out or not....IT IS REALLY OUT. Congratulations to all those that made it, it has bn a worthy wait. To those that didn't, next year is just around the corner and you can always try again..May Almighty God open other opportunities to and for you. God Bless. |
LIST IS OUT GUYS!!!! |
Blessingkm:Its funny how people have so far assumed I'm a He/Brother/Guy...Ive thoroughly enjoyed it though. On a serious note, the list will be out today except something terribly goes wrong or God wills otherwise, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope there will not be any further delays. |
Blessingkm:My dear, its not only you. I dont know if I will sleep well tonight but I will try cos we women are known to be strong lol. Just keep praying and let's keep our faith in the Almighty. |
chitex41:Thank you!!!!!! Finally, someone saying exactly what I was trying to pass across but instead they said I was bragging. I had very similar experience during my interview which is why I believe people that haven't been contacted shouldn't despair. If everything goes well, THE LIST WILL BE OUT ON TUESDAY!!!! In the meantime, see below the correct template for PhD applicants. This was used for the UK interview and I can't say if the same was used for FGC.. We can all score ourselves while we wait lol and hopefully find out where we might have bn weak. Best of luck y'all!!!

Awards, whether 100 or 5 (international, national, local, official etc) was scored a maximum of 5marks, one for each award..by this you should know how unnecessary your arguments are. Both awards and publications had maximum of 5 each and yes i was given full marks for my awards. Again, it was just to encourage others. That said, for the sake of those that are interested in what I have to say: THE LIST SHOULD BE OUT ANYTIME FROM NEXT WEEK, SO WATCH OUT. Please dont tag me, the explanations I have given so far are draining. |
Bodmillz:Well, they were very well recieved. I didnt school in Nigeria, but my academic achievements have earned me presidential handshake/award, award from NSA etc (if those don't count, I dont know what will). By the way, my post is only to encourage people who thought they did well and haven't bn contacted, lets not miss that |
Mrpen:My awards are all academic: Best student from my dept/faculty, award from NSA (undergrads), best research project, best in the dept, deans list (masters) etc. If you were a scholar, your letter serves as an award too. |
Mrpen:They dont |
tyakson99:Amen, thanks for the advice, Ill work on it. |
Jejelaye1:Yes, I remember it was 15-Distinction, 10-Merit and others-5 for masters, & 15-1st class, 10, 2:1, 5-2:2, 0-3rdclass for bachelors |
udores:Exactly ! |
efomzy:Lol, I wasnt interested in research until after my masters. My thesis was very interesting and I had the best research project by the way, hopefully in the future I will compress it into a paper for publication. |
Sheddy79:Communication Engineering! I think that one of the major factors is actually your proposal and how it is related to oil and gas. I can tell you that my interview was excellent too, so I really dont know. Lets just be hopeful. |
[quote author=hamzacs post=68302033]Brother you are wrong..... The scoring templates posted here were correct....[/hquote] I don't think I am. Like I said, what I SAW is different from what was posted. Plus I only made mention of the scoring template for PhD applicants. BUT if the template is different for FGC and UK interviews then none is wrong because the one I'm referring to was used during the interview for the UK scheme. You're free to believe what you wish though!! |
I'm a PhD applicant and was a PTDF scholar, I haven't bn contacted but I'm very hopeful. I think we need to be patient, I applied to both the FGC and UK schemes. I can tell you AUTHORITATIVELY that the marking scheme for PhD applicants posted on this forum is wrong, at least its not what was on the table while I was being interviewed. I remember that qualification (Bachelors plus Masters) was a max of 30 marks. If you think you did well and you haven't bn contacted, remain hopeful.. Below is my profile: Masters..Distinction Bachelors...First Class Awards...13 Publications..None Work experience..7yrs Lets keep our fingers crossed and above all..PRAY!! |
