@bawomolo,
how is the US trade deficit out of control?

Because it is out of control. Hint: DEFICITS. Duh!

@sefago,
Because Ezan said so- he hasn't described what series of events could cascade the American economy to implode and he is prolly clueless. The beauty of NL

If you weren't so slow and clueless, you'd probably see that the series of events are already taking place. See who dey call person clueless. When you read try to stay focused.

@Iyke-D,
Hmm, the country is bankrupt? Really? I am no finance guru, but I didn't think people will be so free to lend money to someone they
know to be either bankrupt or about to go bankrupt.
Are you reading with your eyes closed? I presented a timeline of 5-10yrs. Not tomorrow. Whether you like it or not, America is done. Finished. And watch the US Treasury auctions before you go spouting off about lending.

@Iyke-D, Mr Krugman is entitled to his opinions; there were hundreds like him during the Great Depression writing about how things were 'slowly' getting better, and then phase 2 hit and many like him committed suicide 'cause they lost everything in the crash. BTW, you get your news from the nytimes? You might be a day late and a dollar short.

Not sure I see the end of the US scenario there, just saying

I'm not surprised you're unable to see the severity of the situation the US is in; those stats you linked to are not current, very conservative estimates and it's still bad(fiscal year 08/09 ended in September), present stats are about 4-6 times worse, and much worse if you include unfunded liabilities such as Soc. Security and Medicare etc in the debt figures.

Get your head outta your ass; this isn't about positive thinking or wishful thinking. This is the reality the US faces. The country is bankrupt. 2 tell-tale signs an empire is about to implode: budget and trade deficits out of control, perpetual state of war.

@edoyad, you're in Kaduna-it seems-and somehow you KNOW the US is out of a recession?! You probably believe in the tooth fairy and santa claus.

@edoyad, what is the US's debt to GDP ratio? If you understand that you'll zip it.

@Iyke-D, did you see how the US treasury auctions performed over the last few months? I'm not sure what the 'F' you're talking about. The US is currently spending about $2.09 for every $1.00 in revenue. Let me break it down for you in one word: BANKRUPTCY.

@sagamite, the UK is no different; they're f*cked too.

@OAM4J, Iyke-D, Manny4life, the thing is I'd love to be able to tell you guys in about 10yrs time: I TOLD YOU SO but it wouldn't be worth it. If you understood simple math and debt-which you obviously do not-you would see pretty clearly that America is finished. Done. Dead. What is military might if you can't service the troops? What is military might without a SOUND economy to support it? Who do you think finances all the wars the US is engaged in? The country is in a perpetual state of war! The US has over 170 military bases across the globe and counting! If that isn't reminiscent of the Roman empire then I don't know what is. You think this economic mess is over? Think again. It's only just begun. Enjoy the US while you still can 'cause within a decade it's gonna be a shadow of it's former self.

Nigeria's got massive problems, some might even call it a failed state however our problems pale in comparison to that which the US is going to be mired in-in the coming years. You have been warned.

@manny4life, if you don't know what I'm talking about then I feel the sorriest for you. Reality check? The joke is on you.

The US-the nerve center of and for corruption-might seize to exist in another 5-10 yrs. They're doing everything to control drugs(cocaine etc) and oil. That's it foreign policy-plain and simple. The dollar is set to collapse, not sure exactly when this would happen. Obama is an idiot and a puppet. What nerves! Kettle dey call pot black? Really scary and interesting times ahead, folks.

Who cares how you choose to poison your mind? ALL religions have caused more harm than good. It is a disease of the mind, not sure if I should feel sorry for you.
