Why do Ibos love attaching themselves to South South?

Is it because of their oil, since Ibo land has no resources?

It is you Ibo people that introduced bitterness and hatred to Nigeria polity in 1966.
Ibos are a naturally bitter and hateful tribe
The Nigeria should quickly be restructured and Ibos should be forced out to go and form biafra
Stop contradicting yourself because it makes you to look stupid...

Limit this ur dumb analysis to nairaland because taking it outside will make you to look daft in the eyes of people..

See how you are struggling to separate SS from SE without acknowledging the fact that the major person that led the coup in 1966 Is from Okpanam Anioma Delta state which you and other people call Ibo coup...

This may be an individual personal opinion. The implications would be that home made foods like local rice that have hitherto gaining popularity would now be less demanded.Apart from this, there would be less demand for similar home made materials whether of clothing, building etc.ln this regards, the gained of past years of self reliance would go into drain. However, the masses would be relieved of hunger and things would seemed fantastic but at long run economic will suffered. Ladies and gentlemen, self helped is best helped.

Lol, this one doesn't know how Fulanis operate, which language do you want them to use before ?

In the North hausas are majority but fulanis are in charge of traditional and political positions..
In Kwara Yorubas are majority but fulanis invaders are decision makers.. Your number and your language is not a problem to them because they have a target and they are succeeding the way they succeeded in subduing Hausas...

Do you know that there is no Hausa Emiir in entire northern Nigeria ?

CelebritiesRe: The Ibo And Ilorin by Ezeama400:
AuschwitzPrefec:
Ilorin is a testament to why multiculturalism is bad.

Ilorin is now firmly part of the Sokoto caliphate owing not to the sole credit of Fulani invasion, but the treachery and treason of the Yoruba Muslim, who put his adopted foreign religion above his own race and empire.

The ridicule emanating from the Ibo towards the Yoruba losing Ilorin started with an infamous speech Zik made in which he subtly took a jab at the Yoruba by alluding that "ibo land has never been conquered by an outside force" and from there Zik went on to claim that his own people will conquer Nigeria via trade and migration , describing his people as a termite horde fleeing their red mount to spread across Nigeria.

It is important I make some clarifications on how Ilorin was lost and not to an invading force but through the treachery of the indigenous Muslim population .

And be that it may, it is also important to state why Ibo land remained unconquered by occupation of an invading force.

A simple glance of a map will show you why Ibo land remained unoccupied especially by the Fulani jihadist.

To the west lies the great and mighty Bini Empire that the Fulani jihadist dared not invade.

To the north of iboland lies the powerful warrior kingdoms of Igala, Tivi and Jukum.

These mighty kingdoms were a buffer zone that isolated and protected Ibo land from the jihadist Fulani.

If these states did not border Ibo land, the Ibo would have been speaking Awusa and practicing Islam in today's world.
The bolded is not true...

Go and read indirect rule in Nigeria during colonialism. Igbo tribe is a tribe that is very difficult to influence no matter what ...

Indirect rule was very successful in the North

It was successful in the south west, but not as successful in the North because there was little resistance (Acephelous)

The indirect rule failed woefully in the East..
It's took British 30 years war to penetrate Igbo land.. Read about ekumeku war in Anioma, Aba women riot and the rest.. It's about the resistance nature of the people, not those surrounding Igbo land .. If it's like that Igbos would have embraced Hausa and Islam after the war for survival because we were left with nothing in 70's..

In fact the hatred for Islam increased after the war, even the few that was practicing Islam in Ebonyi left it in droves and embraced Christianity. If not for the civil war, Islam would have spread like wild fire in Enugu and Ebonyi today.. They were so many Igbo Muslim those days scattering everywhere unlike today it's hated with passion...

So Stop consoling yourself, your tribe is just naturally weak starting from the colonial era..

I even forgot to add that there was a time you people begged British to keep rulling you.. grin grin grin

Using voters register as a yardstick for example which is 11 million, then SE voters that are outside SE are like 25 million, making it total 36 million since those outside are more than those inside... Then plus over 6 million current SS ibos which is 42 million... We haven't even included those below 18 years that made 25 population of Igbo...

What of those in diaspora...?

On a head count how many southern residents speak Yoruba compared to another language?

SW speak Yoruba

Igbo in Lagos speaks Yoruba

Other SSners in Lagos speak Yoruba

Igbo in other SW states speak Yoruba.

Foreigners residing in SW speak Yoruba

Beremx and princeoflagos and other Igbo nairalanders speak Yoruba

Ilaje and Ijaw outside SW speak Yoruba

80% of Igbo leaders speak Yoruba
having lived or schooled in SW

Every Southern person who listens to Afrobeat speaks Yoruba.

Most slangs adapted into speech today emanates from Yoruba. e.g 'soro soke'

Point of correction, Igbos are not refeguess in Lagos because I have never seen where refeguess are living in a good house while the owner of the so called land is managing tents..

Check the percentage of people living in a good house in Lagos compare it with your kinsmen that dominated huts in Mushin, agege and iyanipaja grin

Keep deceiving yourself...Meanwhile @ your post........

Is it not because of refusals of Igbos in Lagos to blend with you in culture and langue that is causing problem in Lagos ?

You hardly see Igbos speak Yoruba in Lagos except few Igbos that are in Yoruba dominated areas, that why you hardly see anybody speaking English language in places like Agoor, Ajao Estate, Festac, Isolo, Amuwo Odofin, Abulado, Ejigbo some parts of Sululere, In fact Yoruba language is going into extinction in Oshodi/Isolo areas. ...,people in these areas communicate with Igbos more than even English language as if they are in the east, and Yoruba language is almost into extinction in the aforementioned places.. They communicate with Igbos in the market and other places..

This is why your people are bitter towards Igbos, at a point SW people started feeling insecured and dominated because Ibos refused to mix with you.. Places like Leekki and and some parts of island that is dominated by Igbos communicate in English for obvious reason including some few yorubas in those axis as well..

Igbos are not minority tribe that will easily bled due to environmental factor.. They must stick to their culture and belief no matter what.. Any Ibo man you see speaking Yoruba is a thing of choice, not conditional.. Learn how to travel to learn some things and quit lies..

U can lie for Africa

At the topic, the most spoken language in Southern Nigeria is pidgin language, spoken by majority of southerners, then English langue then followed by Igbo language spoken in 7 states and beyond, then Yoruba llanguage spoken in five core Yoruba states.

I created this thread in reaction to those that think they can catch up with Igbos in language spread by adopting their local language in Alausa..

This is one of the reason that gave rise to mid West agitation in 60's where they exhibited their bigotry with archaic and ridiculous law

Ever since I watched the Netflix documentary “Bigger than Africa”, I just suddenly got this extreme proudness in me for being a Yoruba man.

Afro beat language is already Yoruba, why can’t the whole Southern Nigeria adopt Yoruba as the second official language?
Dream on.. Igbo will forever remain most spoken language in southern Nigeria after English till eternity..
After South East Igbos, Delta ( anioma) and Rivers, then other SS states that share boundaries with Igbos still speak Igbo except the interior part of those states

Do you have proof that one man earns 50% of Lagos revenue?

The only thing I agree with you about is that of excess greed and selfishness.

In South Africa, if a community has a billionaire, you will feel his impact on that community even if he doesn't live there all the time. Community service is prioritized there.

But in Nigeria, you might see a muddy road leading to a community which has two or more billionaires. For example, the road leading to Peter Obi's village.

We have more billionaires than any other African countries, but our billionaires are only concerned about their own family, and the ones who are showing concern for their community members or kinsmen are those preparing to go into politics.

But all this does not mean that population is not also a major problem. Because we don't produce much, we are unable to sufficiently feed our teeming population. Demand is way higher than food supply, and this creates demand-pull inflation.

Also because we import far more than we export, factoring in raw material and import cost into our goods, we create cost-pull inflation for ourselves.

We also don't gave good managers of resources like we had in the person of Obafemi Awolowo who saw to it that Nigeria fought the Biafran war for 30 months without borrowing a single penny.
Why do you guys just loving telling lies on media all the time ?

Peter Obi's village road muddy ?.. Smh..

In fact if you come to Peter Obi's local government alone which is Anocha, good road network is so significant to the extent people accused him of giving more favour to his local government.. He almost tared some roads leading to stream where nobody stays...

Globally Russia is number one while Nigeria is number eight in in gas reserve.

Nigeria is Number one in Africa with 33% of African gas reserve.

Imo state is number one in Nigeria having more than 60% of Nigerian gas reserve following by Edo State, Anambra and Benue state..
PoliticsNigeria's Gas Reserve To Last For 94 Years, Komalafe by Ezeama400(op): 10:29pm On Jul 11, 2023
The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mr Gbenga Komolafe, on Monday disclosed that Nigeria’s gas reserves will last the next 94 years.

The NUPRC boss spoke at the opening of the 16th Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) Annual International Conference in Abuja, themed: “Energy Evolution, Transition and Reform: Prospects for African Economies.”

Komolafe stated that Africa with its vast sources of renewable energy has the potential, with the right leadership, reforms and adequate financing, to easily transit to the use of other cleaner sources of energy in the nearest future

Nigeria, and indeed other African countries rich in hydrocarbon, Komolafe said, are gradually shifting their attention to the use of natural gas as a major source of energy, while continuing in the exploitation of the oil resources/reserves which for now remain the major sources of revenue for the government.

He explained that oil and gas will continue to guarantee energy security for Nigeria’s massive population estimated to be 200 million.

“With a reserve base of 36.97 billion barrels of oil and 208.83 trillion cubic feet of gas which represents 33 percent of Africa’s total gas reserves of 620 TCF, Nigeria can be described as a gas rich nation ranking number one in Africa in reserves with a life index of 94 years,” he added.

The commission’s chief executive stated that the endowment presents Nigeria in a dominant position in the entire Africa gas market, explaining that Nigeria has the potential to ensure sustained supply of natural gas across the sub-Saharan region of Africa, if the necessary financing and infrastructure are in place.

The Petroleum Industry Act, 2021 (PIA), Komolafe said, has brought about significant reforms in the Nigerian petroleum industry, noting that the Act has also engendered the much desired reforms aimed at ensuring the rapid development and effective production of Nigeria’s gas resources by providing very attractive fiscal terms for investors.

“For instance, the Act provides for lower royalty rate for domestic gas (2.5 per cent). To operationalise the Act, the commission has also developed key regulations and initiatives that will ensure accelerated gas exploration and development to deepen domestic use for industrialization and export opportunities for enhanced revenue generation,” Komolafe said.
