If you remove the distinction between a degree and an HND, you then will need to develop another institution that caters to the needed technical skills. And then, those people will face the dichotomy again.

There is nowhere in the world where a technical diploma is equated to a degree or "academic diploma" (as in Germany Austria, Finland, etc.)
The technical diploma was meant to complement the academic diploma (degree).

There is a very important distinction in these two systems: the course credit system.

The course credit system for academic diplomas is based mainly on class (course) hours. While the credit for the diploma is based mainly on lab (practical) hours. That is why everywhere in the world, degrees do 90% class and 10% practicals (to appreciate the theory), while technical diplomas do 90% practicals and 10% class work (to conceptualize the practicals).

Although due to the twisted nature of the Nigerian educational system, you will see polytechnic students doing 60% classwork, 20% practicals, and 20% argument on how they are better than university graduates.

That is why the mechanical engineering polytechnic student is busy running around, looking for how to solve strength of materials equations, to prove that he knows "the theory," when he is supposed to be learning turning operations on the lathe machine.

They used to get away with all sorts of violence in the north. Massacres ontop Massacres. It lasted for years. Shariah riots under Obasanjo claimed nearly ten thousands lives! No one was sent to jail for that. Remember when Gideon Akaluka was beheaded at Kano and his skull put on a spike!? No one was arrested nor prosecuted for that. Remember the lady that was stoned to death in Sokoto? No one was arrested over that.

As long as you refuse to punish criminal offenders for their violent crimes, they will not stop. You need to make very rigid laws and make sure that the application is perfect. Send someone to the firing squad for murder and others around him will fall in line...

A nation that once commanded respect is now constantly on the defensive, explaining away insecurity and killings instead of addressing them decisively. When leadership fails to uphold justice and accountability, perception becomes reality, and that’s exactly where we are today.

In 1964, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Erejuwa II, was deposed in those heady political days just before that Republic collapsed.

Erejuwa II was generally beloved by his Warri Itsekiri people but became a victim of the politics of the day.

Those who removed him then shopped for a stooge, and they found one in Moju Igbene.

Igbene, against the advice of responsible Itsekiri men (and women), readily agreed to be installed the Olu of Warri in 1965.

He took the title of Ikengbuwa II. He became a highly unpopular usurper.

He was to last barely a year on the stool.

When the Army struck in January of 1966 and David Ejoor was appointed Military Governor, he immediately restored the banished and deposed legitimate Olu to his throne and then outed Ikengbuwa.

That Olu Ikengbuwa II (Igbene) was the maternal grandfather of Reno (you have heard him brag of his royal background).

Reno’s mother, now late (may her soul rest in peace), was the daughter of Ikengbuwa, who married Reno's father.

On being deposed, Ikengbuwa suffered a stroke, drove away Reno's grandmother, and lived in disgrace and isolation until his death in ignominy

Reno is following in the footsteps of his disgraced maternal grandfather.
