[He was first detained in July 1993 under the regime of General Babagida. His offences then was that he advocated for the revalidation of the result of the 12 June 1993 Presidential election polls won by the Late Chief M. K. O. Abiola. Sani was charged at a magistrate court, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Kaduna, for sedition. During the interim government of Chief Earnest Shonekan, Sani was arrested and detained for two weeks and later charged to court for sedition again. During General
Sani Abacha's regime, he was implicated in the 1995 phantom coup and subsequently jailed for life and later commuted to 15 years by the Patrick Aziza Special Military Tribunal that convicted the likes of General Olusegun Obasanjo (later President), Col Lawan Gwadabe (rtd) and Chris Anyanwu and other journalists; his charges were: "Accessory to the fact of treason and managing an unlawful society (the Campaign for Democracy)". He was detained in various prisons: Kirikiri, Kaduna, Port-Harcourt, Enugu and Aba.
Before his several incarcerations, Sani co-founded the Movement for Unity and Progress and teamed up with other northern progressives such as Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd.), Dr Bala Usman, Mr James Bawa Magaji and Alhaji Balarabe Musa, to fight for the actualization of 12 June annulled presidential election and other causes.
Sani is renowned for providing human rights campaign support to the poor and the disadvantage and in the process had clashed with security agents and other state power-wielders.
During the religious riots in Kaduna in 2000, he was the only human right activist in Kaduna that came out in the heat of the violence to condemn the massacre. In 2005, he was appointed to reshape the civil society in the national conference. Tradition rulers in the conference asked that Shehu Sani be barred from further speaking went he asked for their dissolution because of their pliant support for military dictator in the past. The chairman of the commission, Justice Niki Tobi turned down the call. During the riot in Kaduna, he pioneered the distribution of relief materials and initiated the visit to the “war zone” at the time when it was the most suicidal thing to contemplate.
Sani has organized and led protests, namely:
Against Iraq invasion of the state of Kuwait
Against the Israeli war on Gaza

Where was this miserable fool when Argentine defended headed the ball to his hand and no penalty was given? This is the first time I have heard that a player can kick or head the ball onto his or her hand and no call is made.

Argentina Legend, Diego Maradona has claimed that Colombia were Robbed in the World Cup round of 16 after England won via penalty shootout on Tuesday.

Harry Kane scored a second half penalty to put England 1-0 ahead only before in-form Yerry Mina to score a stoppage time equaliser for Colombia.

The match went to penalties after Extra-time and England's Jordan Pickford proved to be hero.

He saved Carlos Bacca's penalty before Eric Dier scored to secure England's place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

But the match ended in controversy with Colombia players insisting Referee Mark Geiger favored England.

Earlier Radamel Falcao blamed Referee Mark Geiger for the defeat which he described "painful".

Now, Maradona has reacted to the controvesy.

“I saw a monumental theft,”he told reporters.

"I apologise to all the Colombian people, but they must know the players are not to blame.

“It is the man who decides who the referee is who is to blame. A man like that (Geiger) should not be put in charge of a game of that magnitude.

“With all due respect, Pierluigi Collina, as the man who designates the referees, he is very bad. He must apologise to the Colombian people.

“I told (FIFA president) Gianni Infantino that if I worked for FIFA, I would change everything. It has to be transparent. That’s why I didn’t go there.

“The referee will know a lot about baseball, but he has no idea about football. The Colombian players asked for VAR and he did not give it to them.

“Twice, the English threw themselves to the ground and he did not admonish them. This was theft.

“The penalty was not a foul.In fact, it was Kane’s fault.

“The referee was looking somewhere else and when he turned his head, Kane was on the floor.

“Kane used his arm to hook Sanchez and then threw himself down.

“I repeat, why didn’t the referee ask for the VAR? Colombia died standing. That’s why I applaud them.”

Politics / Re: Aminu Tambuwal Sacks All Commissioners Ahead Of His Defection To PDP by falimaram: 2:54am On Jul 05, 2018
MadeInTokyo:
Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Wednesday sacked all his commissioners and asked them to hand government property to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries, in a move that foreshadows his planned move to switch to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Malam Abubakar Shekara, Director General Media and Public Affairs in Government House, announced the dissolution in a statement.

Shekara explained that the dissolution would pave way for “restructuring and re-strategising the cabinet for optimum efficiency and service delivery to the people of State”.

The director-general said Gov. Tambuwal thanked the former commissioners for their dedication, sacrifice and loyalty to the administration.

According to him, the governor also expressed appreciation to the people for cooperating with and supporting the former commissioners towards achieving the success so far recorded.
Gov. Tambuwal wishes the former Executive Council members success in their future endeavours,” he added.

But political pundits said the governor’s move may be connected with his plans to leave the All Progressives Congress and rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party.

Close watchers of the state said the governor does not enjoy the support of many commissioners, some of whom were nominated by former governor, Aliyu Wammako, who is now a senator, and who has vowed not to leave the All Progressives Congress.
