Sports / Manchester United Exploring Terminating Cristiano Ronaldo's Contract by Fanofthegame: 3:09pm On Nov 18, 2022 |
Manchester United are pursuing the possibility of terminating Cristiano Ronaldo's contract following his interview with Piers Morgan after the 37-year-old accused the club of “betrayal”, according to sources. The club is also exploring the possibility of taking legal action against the Portuguese international for breach of contract. United coach Erik Ten Hag told the club hierarchy on Monday he doesn't want Ronaldo back after the World Cup, with the player possibly playing his final match for the club. Ronaldo re-joined United in August 2021 on a two-year contract with an option for an extra year, with the contract expiring in August 2023. Manchester United said on Friday that they have “initiated appropriate steps” in response to Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan. “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. “We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.” Ronaldo said he is blamed for all that has gone wrong at the club, with the Old Trafford outfit forcing him out. He said: “Yes, they [United] are trying to force me out. Not only the coach [Ten Hag], but two or three other guys around the club. “I feel that some people didn’t want me at Manchester United, not only this year but last season too. “The fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United. “I am giving this interview, because I think it’s the right time to speak my mind. “I felt betrayed. Honestly, I shouldn’t say that … but, listen, I don’t care, I’m always… People should listen to the truth.” United are hoping to conclude the process as soon as possible. The Senegalese talisman underwent the surgery on Thursday evening in Innsbruck and will miss the World Cup with Senegal. A Bayern Munich statement read: “Sadio Mane was in Innsbruck on Thursday evening. “He had a successful operation conducted by Prof. Christian Fink and Dr. Andy Williams from London. “During the procedure, a tendon was reattached to the right fibula head. “The FC Bayern attacking player is no longer available for the Senegal national team for the World Cup and will begin his rehabilitation in Munich in the coming days.” The reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, are in Group A. Their first game of the World Cup is against the Netherlands on Monday. That is followed by a game against the hosts Qatar on November 25 and Ecuador on November 29. Sports / Manchester United Reacts To Cristiano Ronaldo Piers Morgan Interview by Fanofthegame: 3:34pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
Manchester United have reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo interview with Piers Morgan, released on Sunday night. The club said in a statement: “Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. “Our full focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.” In the interview with Morgan, Ronaldo said the Manchester club has “betrayed” him and made him a “black sheep”. Ronaldo, who returned late to United’s pre-season training, said his three-month-old daughter was sick and hospitalised in July, with him choosing to stay back. He said the senior executives at the club didn’t believe him, and he felt “hurt” in the process. Ronaldo said he is blamed for all that has gone wrong at the club, with the Old Trafford outfit forcing him out. He said Erik ten Hag doesn’t have respect for him and he reciprocates the same gesture. Ronaldo said that nothing has changed since his former boss Alex Ferguson left the club. He said he tried signing for Manchester City last year, but Ferguson told him to join United instead. Cristiano Ronaldo added that his focus is on winning the World Cup with Portugal and then coming back to try and resolve things one way or another at United. Sports / Sadio Mane Ruled OUT Of World Cup Through Injury by Fanofthegame: 11:41am On Nov 09, 2022 |
Senegal star Sadio Mane is set to miss the World Cup 2022 through injury, according to reports. The former Liverpool forward, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer, was forced off during last night’s 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen. Bayern’s assistant coach Dino Toppmoller had suggested after the game that Mane had been “hit on the leg” and that the injury was “not too serious” but manager Julian Nagelsmann suggested scans would be needed to determine the extent of the injury. “That’s an unpleasant spot, it radiates a bit into the muscles,” Nagelsmann said. “I think he has to go to the X-ray to see if there is something there, because it is splintering easily. But I hope that nothing is wrong. I can’t say anything for sure yet.” Reporting on Wednesday morning, French outlet L’Equipe claim Mane has now been ruled out of the tournament, which would be a huge blow to a Senegal side he inspired to Africa Cup of Nations glory earlier this year. Mane scored the winning penalty in that tournament’s final shootout against Egypt, who Senegal also saw off in a playoff to secure a place in Qatar. In Group A alongside the Netherlands, Ecuador and the host nation, Senegal are a possible last-16 opponent for England, who play in Group B with Wales, USA and Iran. Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Refused To Come On Against Tottenham - Erik Ten Hag by Fanofthegame: 3:13pm On Oct 21, 2022 |
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on as a late substitute against Tottenham on Wednesday before the forward left the game. Ten Hag has dropped Ronaldo for Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge, as punishment, after he previously left early, following half-time withdrawal, in a pre-season friendly draw against Rayo Vallecano on July, 31. He confirmed reports Ronaldo refused to come on, during his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea meeting and added that he had a discussion with Ronaldo on Thursday morning at Carrington. “Details (of the discussion) are between Cristiano Ronaldo and me. The statement is also clear,” he said. “I’m the manager. I’m responsible for the culture and I have to set standards and values, and I have to control them. We are in a team and in a team we have standards and values, and we have to control it. “So after Rayo Vallecano I said it was not acceptable, but he was not the only one. That was for everyone. So when it’s the second time, that will have consequences, and that is what we did. “So we miss him tomorrow and that is a miss for us and the squad. It’s a miss, but I think it’s important for the attitude for the mentality for the group. Ten Hag said that Ronaldo’s removal from the squad will have a reflection on him and the rest of the squad, stressing why the club responded with a punishment this time. When asked if Ronaldo will be able to play a part going forward, he said: “Yes. That’s also in the statement. He remains an important part of the squad.” Ten Hag said that their focus is fully on the Chelsea game, highlighting United willingness to win the game. “I think that’s part, when you play in top football, that sometimes there’s rumours, there’s noise, and don’t get deflected. You have to focus on the job and that is perform tomorrow.” Ronaldo released a statement yesterday after United dropped him and said: “As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed. “I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision-making process. “I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. “Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented. “Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us. “Right now, I just feel I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my team-mates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. “This is Manchester United and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again.” The Portuguese international trained alone on Friday, with rumours suggesting he could be on his way out of the club once the January transfer window opens.
