PDP had the same issues too...which is why GEJ wanted to remove subsidy completely, and why Obasanjo's minsters talked a lot about removing subsides. They could see the problem. Also, remember that Oshiomole got converted to supporting subsidy removal by attending GEJ's council of state meetings and seeing how much of a struggle even then it was to pay for subsides.

As an example, subsidy costs in 2011, were triple that of 2010. That was not due to corruption, that was due to high oil prices.

Also, the refineries were in decline because subsidy prevented them from making the profits needed to pay for repairs, maintenance and upgrades...and also caused corruption to fester since they were not being run on what they made, but on what the government sent them.

And paying for subsides got too expensive. That's a big part of why our reserves went down from 60 billion in 2010 to 28 billion by May 29 2015 because it was costing too much

Smuggling also got worse under PDP as well...to the point that Nigerian fuel was being sold in Ghana of all places...at a cheaper rate than their own local fuel.

There were issues under PDP, APC under buhari...which added up to the disaster we faced in 2023 May that forced the subsidy removal. Infact, the die was cast when PIB was passed in 2021. At that point subsidy should have gone, but buhari kept it for another 18 months(because he wanted to win in 2023, with tinubu), which of course meant the printing of money and taking on of more debt to pay for the subsidy...and which led to us using 90% of our revenue to pay for debt service...by August 2022

You sound like subsidy is still not being paid by NNPC to compete with Dangote 😂😂😂....Tell you master to stop importing petrol PERIOD ..you can't say you remove subsidy to save dollars and then go around and start using billions of dollars to import petrol when we have Dangote
