A 35-year old man who fraudulently obtained money and engaged a woman in marathon sex under the false pretence of marrying her has been arraigned before the Oshodi Magistrates’ Court, Lagos Southwest Nigeria, and remanded in prison custody at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, Apapa for fraud.
The man, Amaechi Odife who was deported from the United States of America, the police prosecutor alleged, promised to buy a car and take his lover, Ginikachi Adika, to the United States of America, if she will sleep with him and marry him. Unknown to Adika, Odife was jobless and recently deported from the US.
She reportedly accommodated him and they started living together in Adika’s house at 7, Amusa Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos.
The woman, living on false hope, gladly accepted the offer and started spending her money on Odife and engaged in sex with him.
The woman became anxious when the accused refused to introduce any of his relations to her for them to organise a wedding.
Odife later took her to a prophet who prophesised to them that God said that they should not live as husband and wife. The embittered woman discovered after five months of living together that Odife was deported and jobless and had no plans of going back to the US, talkless of taking her along.
Angered by Odife’s behavior, Adika went to the Makinde Police Station and reported what happened.
Odife was arrested and charged to court under sections 419 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.
When the matter came up at the court, he pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Osho Adebiyi granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety.
The matter has suffered two adjournments because the complainant refused to show up in court to testify against the accused.

The Senate has formally named Nigerians who have stolen and benefitted from the oil subsidy, causing pains and hardship to ordinary Nigerian citizens with Oando, owned by Wale Tinubu, younger brother of former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sayyud Dantata MRS oil topping the list.

Mike Adenuga’s CONOIL and construction companies, one of them suspected to be Julius Berger were named as the culprits.
Among the names reeled out by the Senator Abe led Committee are; Oando Nigerian Plc. – N228.506 b, MRS – N224.818 billion, Enak Oil & Gas – N19.684 billion, CONOIl – N37.960 billion, Bovas & Co. Nig. Ltd. – N5.685 billion, Obat N85 billion and AP; N104.5billion.

Also on the list are Folawiyo Oil – N113.3billion; IPMAN Investment Limited- N10.9billion; ACON – N24.1billion, Atio Oil-N64.4billion, AMP- N11.4billion; Honeywell-N12.2billion; Emac Oil- N19.2billion; D.Jones Oil-N14.8billion; Capital Oil – N22.4billion; AZ Oil- N18.613billion; Eterna oil- N5.57 billion; Dozil oil- N3.375 billion; and Fort oil-N8.582 billion.

Also, Integrated Oil and Gas owned by former Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho was mentioned and is said to have benefitted to the tune of N30.777 billion, while IPMAN Investment Limited pocketed the sum of N10.9 billion.

Abe did not name the registered construction companies that benefited from the racket.

However, the alleged N450 billion kerosene subsidies owed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by the federal government was debunked by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) which told the lawmakers that the claims were not in their books.

Meanwhile, the executive secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Mr. Reginald Elijah disclosed that between 2006 and September 2011, a whopping N3.655 trillion was expended on fuel subsidies.

The couple who had their traditional wedding on Sat Nov 26th, have canceled their Sat Dec 10th white wedding. The new date is now Friday Dec 9th and they are keeping the venue secret. But it’s at an RCCG parish somewhere in Lagos and reception still to hold at Essence Hotel in Ikoyi. Shhhh, don’t say I told you, it’s supposed to be secret…:-).

Reason for the new date is probably to manage the number of people who show up. They are only interested in close family and friends and have been sending out the new dates via phone calls and texts. Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli had to escape from his burning house after fireworks had set fire to the bathroom, reports have revealed.

The Guardian reports the 21-year-old managed to leave his home without suffering injury just before 1am on Saturday morning - a day before Manchester City take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
"At just before 1am on Saturday we were called to a report of a house fire at a residential home in Mottram St Andrew," said a police spokesman.

"Police provided assistance to Cheshire fire and rescue service as well as ensuring residents were accounted for and there was no danger to surrounding properties.

"At this time, the cause of the fire is being examined by fire investigators and the police. However, it is not thought to be suspicious."

On Monday, club team-mate Nigel de Jong insisted the Italy international had turned a corner regarding his behaviour, following early incidents during his career at City which includes a reported case of throwing darts at youth players at the club's training ground.

Balotelli was able to train on Saturday morning after sleeping in a hotel in Manchester, but the fire was believed to be caused by the striker and a group of his friends setting off fireworks through the bathroom window.

"Four breathing apparatus and two hose reel water jets were used to deal with the fire and a large fan was used to clear the smoke from the property," read a statement from the fire service.

"Crews managed to put the fire out within half an hour of arriving but remained at the scene until 2:45 am to prevent any possible flare-ups. Smoke alarms were fitted at the property and the occupiers were able to get out unharmed. The fire was caused by a firework."
