The Japanese passport has been ranked the most powerful passport in the world with citizens enjoying visa-free/visa-on-arrival access to 190 destinations. According to the Henley Passport Index which depends on data provided by the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), Nigeria gained visa-free access (net-free access) to three new countries, bring its visa-free access to 47 countries. Speaking on the methodology of the ranking, Henley said: “For each travel destination, if no visa is required for passport holders from a country or territory, then a score with value = 1 is created for that passport. “A score with value = 1 is also applied if passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) when entering the destination. These visa-types require no pre-departure government approval, because of the specific visa-waiver programs in place. “Where a visa is required, or where a passport holder has to obtain a government-approved electronic visa (e-Visa) before departure, a score with value = 0 is assigned. A gigantic baby Whale that washed ashore in Delta state of Nigeria has been butchered by hungry residents. Residents of Obotobo 1 Community of Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu LGA, Delta State have reportedly butchered a huge baby Whale after it washed ashore. The residents could be seen using an axe, machete and other weapons to devour the animal at their mercy. The foreign minister of Spain has declared that Europe needs new blood as he denied the news that Spain is currently experiencing mass immigration. Josep Borrell, Spain’s foreign minister said on Monday that Europe needed new blood to compensate for the low birth rate being experienced across the Continent. He told reporters that the word “mass” was being trivialized after concluding talks with Jordanian foreign minister, Ayman Safadi. The International Organisation for Migration reported that 21,000 migrants have arrived in Spain by sea since the beginning of 2018; it also reported that 304 migrants died in the attempt. The organisation also revealed that Spain was the new main destination for migrants trying to reach Europe because migrants now avoid the Libya-Italy Mediterranean route, which used to be the main route. The Libya-Italy route is being abandoned in preference to Spain because of the dire conditions that migrants go through in Libya. Armed groups kidnap mostly West African migrants trying to get to Italy and sell them into slavery. Did you ever know that citizenship could be bought outrightly in some parts of the world? Well if you don’t know you do and will also know why it has become the latest fantasies of the super-rich. According to a report by Bloomberg, a second passport—or a third or fourth—has become another trophy for the ultra-wealthy and so for most of them, it is more for bragging rights. When interviewed, Christian Kalin, chairman of Henley & Partners, a firm which provides citizenship advice and publishes rankings such as the Quality of Nationality Index opined that wealthy buyers “are looking for security”. “They want peace of mind in case of a revolution or other upheaval in their home countries”, he said. Many nations of the world, the U.S. included, allow migrant residents the chance to apply for citizenship only after meeting certain criteria but these only 10 countries permit other nationals to acquire outright citizenship which comes with a certain price. These prices may also require payment in the form of direct investment into their economy, typically in property or the setting up of a local business. Eight out of these ten countries are classified by the IMF as offshore financial centres, though Kalin said stability, not tax avoidance, is what influences most of the buyers. That and bragging rights. “If you have a yacht and two airplanes, the next thing to get is a Maltese passport,” he said. “It’s the latest status symbol. Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from international football. The Arsenal midfielder, 29, was made the scapegoat for Germany's World Cup disaster this summer in Russia, as the 2014 winners of the tournament failed to make it out of their group following two defeats and a win. Ozil was criticised for his performance in Germany's opening defeat by Mexico, before being dropped for the victory over Sweden. Andres Iniesta has announced he has played for Spain for the last time after getting knocked out of the World Cup by Russia. Fernando Hierro's side were shocking dumped out of the competition on penalties by the unfancied hosts - having drawn 1-1 in normal time. Iniesta came off the bench, having started each of Spain's Group B fixtures against Portugal, Morocco and Iran, in the 67th minute. Barcelona legend Iniesta played 131 times for his country, netting 13 times - including the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup.
