Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria Graduate Recruitment 2017 by favoured01: 4:53pm On Jun 22, 2017
Please someone help with this?
favoured01:
Please can someone help? I just finished my on-demand interview but the upload took a while and eventually got disconnected. I kept trying but it says I don't have enough space on my phone and I should create 820MB or use a laptop. like 30 mins after I received a mail from Shell saying I have completed STAGE 1 and they sent me a link to my assessment result. Please does this mean the video eventually uploaded? If not do I have to redo the interview? Thank you.

Hello VO,

My current passport is expiring on the 10th of Sep 2017 and I have applied for a new one but it is being delayed for one reason or the other, Is it advice able to apply for the Visa with the current passport? I plan to travel for an event in April. Thank you.
Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by favoured01: 1:03pm On Feb 22, 2017
Hello VO,

I have been refused a U.S visa for about 4 times of which I'm uncertain of the reason for the rejections. The last time in 2013, I was barely asked 3 questions and the consular looked at me once and then was on the computer the remaining time. So I'm not sure what the problem is exactly. My sister who is a permanent resident is getting married this year and I would love to attend with my fiance(His previous visa is expired). So my questions are
1) Can the both of us( My fiance and I) apply together/attend the interview together with the same IV letter from my sister ?
2) I just started a new job this year and don't have much in my salary account, although I have some savings from my previous employment.
My entire family all have visas and will be present at the wedding. Can you help with the questions? Thank you so much

Please Pardon my hasty generalisation!
My instinct failed me this time around!
I'm not saying females can't express themselves enough to be on this forum,
that will be gross gender inequality and online sexual discrimination!

It's just an oversight ooooo.
Next time, I will simply go with the username unless I know the gender!

Hope I've not offended you Miss favoured01 (A.O.D)

BTW i where did you finish from?

At all, you dint offend me. I finished from Ukraine.

Whatever mcmaster, "he sounds" meaning I read as though I'm hearing him speak. You will never understand that anyways. Ok Moyo, nice to clear that...you guys should be friends, you SOUND soo much alike. Btw why does everyone have to be a sir or mr on here? Are you saying females can't express them self enough to be on NL?

For those that scored really high, with or without brainfriend, it's not for us to judge..I'm sure if those complaining got a hang of the material they would grab it. And for those that scored low...there is God, and he can defy the works of man just to favour someone. So let's wait, pray and hope for the best. Mr MoyoGeneral you sound so much like a friend of mine...pls did you finish from Ife with a law degree? Just to clear my doubt.

Because he is a first class graduate doesn't mean he must know everything... Pls don't act like God and don't make ppl feel bad bcuz they don't know one thing or the other. It would shock you the seemingly simple things ppl of high iq don't know. Nobody knows it all even you! So don't talk anybody down.

Please this is for the house, old and new members.
1) Please who knows if we can apply for a course different from the listed courses? Say Msc human resource management or Msc management? Could they be regarded as an allied course to those listed?
2) I read a post above that the award will cover both Msc and PhD. Please how true is this? Because you cannot get to admissions in one university for both degrees.
3) please who is studying for GRE presently? Do you have materials? Are you presently going for classes or u are studying alone?
4) please has anyone applied and gotten admission to the US?
5) for those that get emails pls post here. Anyone with info about the Abuja test center pls let us know.
Please don't ignore, comment if you have information about these questions. Nagode,Ese, Dalu, Thank you

Hi favour. which state are you resident in? I find the figures you listed amusing. Dont let anyone cheat you. You can register for the GRE and TOEFL yourself. I personally used my GTB master card to register. You would have the liberty to choose which state( lagos, abuja, Ph etc ) you would want to write but that would be dependent on the availability of spaces. It is about 185 dollars roughly about
30k each

Imagine, just 30k. I'm resident in Benin. Thanks for ur info u just saved me a whole lot. Can GRE be written in ph? Plus how did u study? Online or u have books?

planetshaker:
Hi everyone,
I want to congratulate you guys for making it to the shortlist for test. With the number of applicants, I think you have already began to celebrate victories, as small as they may be.
Let me go straight to the point. Its quite unfortunate how much information was lost after the nairaland data loss that happened many months ago. There was so much information here that could have helped you guys out with what to expect. There is no way such value can be replaced to this thread unless we you guys make an effort to build it for those coming behind. There is no need crying over spilt milk so I suggest we all get to work immediately.
I must confess that I am extremely busy and I had to make a precise decision to give back to a thread that had a part to play in where I am today. I hope this serves as a catalyst to the arduous reconstruction of the value this thread once had. I’ll download as much as I remember, and I hope other recipients of this scholarship will find time to chip in something. All the information I give below is based on how things were last year and the year before. I will not be held accountable for any changes in what you encounter. The pressid have all the right to do so, if they wish
The test is a computer based test, scored over 100, 60 mins. You get your results immediately the time runs out, so you leave the hall knowing how well you did. It consists of verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, some current affairs (more of African current affairs) but with some international, some crazy word puzzles that are just designed as time wasters.
You do not require any course based knowledge to perform well. It is purely aptitude. You either know the answer or you don’t. If you waste more than 20 seconds understanding a question, leave it. No need to form superman. It was my observation that the simplest questions (5 second response time) kind of questions, were at the tail end…like number 90 to 100. You will only get there if you leave out stuff that waste time. You can always go back if you finish before time.
Now, it’s a bit kind of hazy now, but lemme talk more specifically about the questions.
The verbal were just basic English…complete the sentence kind of questions. I remember seeing some questions that required some knowledge of vocabulary (not GRE level…don’t fret). Also…some stupid word puzzles (perfect time wasters).
The quantitative reasoning were all these figures with numbers where you are required to observe a pattern and say what shud be in an empty box (that kind thing).
Current affairs were mostly African current affairs if I rem well. I particularly remember being asked the capital of Tanzania. (don’t go cramming countries and capitals because I said so oo..abeg). Just know your stuff. If you don’t know, leave it and move on. There will be many you know. No super man things.
Finally, start applying to your choice schools now. Take GRE and TOEFL now if you want America. Apply now. I cant stress that enough. That’s all I remember for now.
I hope some awardees will see this and be motivated to cheap in. Trust me, we are all crazily busy so I won’t blame anyone if they’ve forgotten nairaland exists. I’ve got to go now. I know there are definitely typo and grammar errors cos I din’t proof read so don’t crucify me. I wish you guys all the best….pls smash!

Planetshaker, you've been of great help. Is it compulsory to go to the school or study the course we wrote while filling the form? Plus where did u take ur GRE n TOEFL tests? It's so expensive in the state I'm in; 139k n 92k respectively. Pls anyone with this info should Share...in the mean time, time to study. Gods favour to us all.
