Music/Radio / Re: Who Is Terry G? by faze1: 1:39am On Apr 14, 2010
I never knew who terry g was till i listened to "In case you never know" by 2shotz ft Timaya where i heard the phrase "free me now, terry g pon di beats" for the first time. then i started paying attention to him. he is so talented and his collabos are awesome. he is a great producer and makes unique danceable beats for other artistes including himself. but he needs to clean up his image, get rid of the dreadlocks and hair dyes, stop cursing and singing about alcohol and drugs, stop drinking and smoking whatever he smokes.

Timaya makes good music, and I have been one of his biggest fans back before he even made his first video. But now he's blown up, and i think the success has gone to his head and it showed during one of his live concerts that I attended. Maybe he was having a bad day or something. Anyways, he was the main act for the show. He performed the first song for like 60 seconds then he told the DJ to skip to the next song because "he wasn't feeling it". He did this for the next song, then the next. He made the DJ skip through six songs. He then complained about the echo from the speakers and that he couldn't "hear himself". We, the crowd, said we could hear him when he asked us if we could. Then, he complained that his work is too hard. He had six female dancers on stage who were dancing erotically on stage and dressed very indecently (leggings with tight, short sleeveless tops). Then he grabbed one of his female dancers by the waist and started demonstrating sexual positions with her. He then backed the crowd and started winding his butt at us. From time to time, he held the mic to his crotch and dangled it as if he was pleasuring himself. About 25 minutes into the concert, he said goodbye and ran off the stage and that was it. He practically ripped us off. I was disappointed. His attitude didn't match his talent at all. I hope he was just having a bad day.
Career / Re: Why Are All Africans Studying Nursing In America? by faze1: 2:17am On Nov 03, 2009
Oh well, I was majoring in nursing (LVN/LPN) until I was thrown out of nursing school in my last semester for failing grades in one of the classes. I am so scared of waiting till next year to start applying to other nursing programs afresh and waiting for admission letter. Then, studying the same things over and repeating the same classes at my school or another school. Does anyone know of any online correspondence LPN school or even any school at all that can help me finish my last semester and write the nursing board licensure exam, PLEASE??
Career / Dropped Lvn/lpn nursing student Needs Help To Complete Diploma by faze1: 1:53am On Nov 03, 2009
I was in my last semester in LVN school in the USA when I was dropped. LVN school, for those who don't know, is usually a three semester class that lasts at least one year. I am so scared of having to start the whole process of getting into nursing school from scratch. That is, writing entrance test, submitting immunization records, transcripts, waiting for admission letter and starting first semester, again.  Does anybody know any online, distance-learning LVN school that can help me complete the remaining requirements to write the nursing board exams for LVN licensure. If not, does anyone know about any school at all that I can contact in the USA to help me complete my LVN classes with previous classroom and clinical coursework from my school?

Culture / Re: Why Do Nigerians Speak Fake Fune, Especially Outside Nigeria? by faze1: 7:10pm On May 23, 2009
for those who were not born overseas, i admire those who come over here and speak with their natural nigerian accent. it indicates self-confidence. there's this yoruba guy who i met in school who came here three years ago and starts speaking fake fune around oyinbos, but then switches to deep naija accent when he's around one ibo guy in the class. the ibo guy speaks igbotic english but i still admire him more than the by-force american yoruba guy for the fact that the ibo guy doesn't fake fune to impress anybody.

i was born in the US and left here when I was 3 and came back after finishing high school in naija. So, I picked up american accent b4 I left and 9ja accent b4 i came back. I therefore can speak with either accent fluently whenever the need arises.  it's so much fun. i can be in the midst of a group of americans and sound exactly like them and sound just like my ppl when i'm around them too. I don't consider myself as faking accents because both are a part of me.

Sabina - a girl/woman who thinks she knows too much
Sabinus - a boy/man who thinks he knows more than everyone else
These slangs are new versions of the old slangs I.T.K. which means i too know

I heard this slang on a nigerian drama and I don't know if it's widely used at home because I do not live in nigeria. The guy shouted, "SCHWEPPES??!!!" in surprise just like a waferian would say, "Shuuuu??!!" or "Shoo??!!" Is this slang actually in use or was it just coined specially for humor in the drama?
Music/Radio / Re: Who Is The Next Nigerian Artiste To Blow? by faze1: 2:24am On Dec 09, 2008
I think Keeno is the next hot thing to look out for. His song "My mama" has been featured on Channels TV, MTV base, and Silverbird TV to name but a few. His CD just came out on the 28th of November and is also available for online purchase and download on itunes. I do not work with his record label and I have never met him before. I just think he's the next big thing to blow up. Better watch out for him.

the accent, for example, saying emereka instead of america,
occasional fake fune,
saying things like "chei", "chineke", "aa aaaah", "omoh", "na wa ooo", "shuuu" from time to time,
tribal marks,
hissing (sucking air into the mouth in between the teeth) from time to time,
declining to accept things given with the left hand,
wearing a particular style of leather slippers which has a strap that holds on to the big toe grin
