1. First, just accept how you feel.

When you’ve just failed it will most likely hurt. Sometimes a bit. Sometimes a lot.

That’s OK.

Don’t try to push it away by distracting yourself or by trying to push the responsibility onto the rest of the world (if you deep down know that this one’s on you partly or fully).

And don’t try to paint it over with a smile.

I’ve found that it works better to not let yourself be lead away by those options or impulses.

But to just be with what I’m thinking and feeling. To try to accept it, to let it in and to hurt for a while instead of trying to reject it all and to keep it away.

Because when you let it in and accept it then it will go faster and in the long run be less painful to process what has happened.

If you reject how you really feel then those emotions will pop up at unexpected times later on and can make you moody, pessimistic, angry or sad.

2. Remember: you’re not a failure just because you had a setback.

When you’ve had a setback it’s very easy to start thinking that you will always keep failing in this area of your life. It’s easy to start thinking that YOU are indeed a failure.

Don’t fall for such a destructive and sometimes seductive self-fulfilling prophecy.

Instead, remind yourself that:

Just because you failed today or yesterday doesn’t mean that you’ll fail the next time.
The truth is that this won’t last for the rest of your life if you keep moving forward, if you take action and you keep learning and it doesn’t label you as some kind of failure (except if you decide to create that label in your own head).
Seeing what’s negative as a temporary thing instead of something permanent is an essential key to an optimistic attitude and to keep going forward in life.

3. Be constructive and learn from this situation.

See it more as valuable feedback and something you can use to improve rather than only a big blow and setback.

I’ve found that the simplest and most helpful way to do that is to ask myself better questions (instead of the common ones that send you off into a negative spiral).

Questions like:

What’s one thing I can learn from this?
How can I adjust my course to avoid this trap/making the same mistake and likely do better next time?
What’s one thing I can differently the next time?
Take some time with these questions and be honest with yourself as you answer them.

There’s no rush and while some of the answers may be immediate others might take an hour, day or even a week to pop up.

The important thing is to start thinking about the situation from this perspective and to be constructive about things instead of getting stuck in denial or negativity and apathy

Digital distractions? No books at home? Too much testing? Kim Kardashian? It depends on the student. It depends on illiteracy vs aliteracy. It depends on how you define reading (does reading long-winded character dialogues in Square Enix games count?) So below, I’ve gathered some of the most common reasons students don’t read, and provided some ways you can begin to address that issue.

1. They haven’t found the right book or type of book.

How do you feel when your principal drops a book in your lap–something well-intentioned, but not even a little naturally interesting to you. Do you hate to read because you don’t want to read it?

Possible solutions: I tell my students that when I walk into a bookstore of 10,000 books, 9200 of them don’t appeal to me. The upside, that means there are 800 books I’m dying to read. No one hates to read. Some of us are just pickier readers than others.

2. They need general reading strategies they can turn to from time to time.

Possible solutions: See here.

Possible solutions: ‘Market’ reading to them. Take pictures of them reading. Start a “Caught Reading” class instagram feed or #caughtreading hashtag (send it to me and I’ll tweet it). Treat it with the same creativity and passion that marketing agencies successfully market Nike shoes as a ‘lifestyle choice,’ or Steve Jobs as a ‘transcendent genius’ because of the iPhone.

3. They need specific reading strategies they can self-select from based on context.

Possible solutions: Identify their strengths and areas for growth as a reader, help them self-assess in the same way, then work together with them and their parents to create a set of 4-6 reading strategies from the list above (or other) for them to use flexibly depending on what they’re reading.

4. Reading can be intimidating.

Reading is fun–until it isn’t. Do I understand it? What will be on the test? Am I at grade level? Above? Below? What if I have to read out loud?

Possible solutions: Don’t make them read out loud unless what you’re wanting to assess is oral fluency! Don’t put them on the spot. Don’t ask comprehension questions out loud. Don’t always insist that they ‘read on grade level’ (Feel like reading Shakespeare after a long day, or would you rather go home and plop on the couch and watch ‘Bar Rescue’?)

Bayelsa: I Never Said Gov. Diri Will Stay In Office For 2months – Fr. Mbaka Reacts To Viral Prophecy.

Charismatic Enugu Catholic Priest, the Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, on Monday, disowned a viral controversial prophecy on the Bayelsa State governorship contest.
We report that the social media was busy, weekend, with reports claiming that Mbaka had prophesied that the current Governor, Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would not last beyond two weeks in office.
In the said prophecy, he was quoted as saying that another person from a different political party, not the APC, would mount the saddle.
However, the cleric has now come out to disclaim the prophecy, attributing it to people who would want to pull him down at all costs.
This was contained in a statement made available to us by Ike Maximus Ugwuoke, the Media Chief, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria.
It read; “Our attention has been drawn to report in a section of the media that spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Fr. Mbaka has prophesied that the newly sworn-in Governor of Bayelsa State, Diri Douye will stay in office as Governor for only two months.
The report alleged that he predicted this in ‘Delta state at the ceremony to mark the birthday of his friend and colleague who clocked 68 years’.
“For the sake of justice and fairness, we challenge the originators of this false and mendacious report to mention the name of the so-called Fr Mbaka’s friend and colleague whose ceremony he attended in Delta State.
“The truth is that Fr Mbaka has not even been in Delta since this year. Fr Mbaka has never at any time, place or circumstance made any prophecy about Bayelsa or who becomes the Governor of the state or his duration in office.
The report is obviously the handwork of mischief makers and wicked idiots who are on demonic and satanic assignment to damage Fr Mbaka’s reputation and brand him a false prophet.

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has been sued by her ex-husband Olakunle Churchill over her explosive interview in May 2019.

Olakunle Churchill who referenced the three-part YouTube series titled ‘The Evidence’ which was shared in May 2019, said his ex-wife accused him of being into cyber fraud popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo and also alleged that she caught him clad in a red cloth, surrounded by red candles with a laptop placed on his lap.

Father Snatches Son’s Girlfriend From Him, Impregnates Her ���

An unknown old man has snatched the girlfriend of his son because he claims his son is too broke to cater for her and later got her pregnant.
Residents of a small town in Narok North are Stillwater in shock after this incident.
Sources say the old man started making advances at the young girl after his son introduced her to him as his soon to be daughter in law.
The man found the young girl so attractive to let go and started planning on how to snatch her from his son who had no idea what his father’s intentions were.
The old man started tracing the girl and when he did, opened up to her and promised her heaven if she chose him over his young son who he claimed was broke and too young for her.
The old man went ahead and threatened the girl with curses and vowed not to accept her as his daughter in law if he chose his son over him.
According to residents, the wheat farmer has three wives and his appetite for young girls has never left him.
It’s reported that the young girl gave in and the two decided to go for a small trip to Narok town where the two stayed for weeks before their cover was blown.
When asked why he decided to snatch his son his wife, the man openly said that his son was too young to marry and that he would not afford to take care of the young girl.
The son in disbelief told sources that he did not believe that his own father would do such. He, however, gave them his blessings saying he respected his father and was okay with whatever he chose to do.

Unidentified gunmen attacks Resident of Former President Goodluck Jonathan in Otuoke Bayelsa.
Unidentified gunmen at the early hours of today attacked the country home of the Former President, Goodluck Jonathan in Otuoke Community of Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The attack, which occurred around 2a.m, occurred few hours after Jonathan decided to move to his Yenagoa home at about 12a.m

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen, numbering about twenty , were repelled by the Military men stationed behind the house.

However one soldier was killed while another one was injured.

Eyewitness say the gunmen launched the attack with a dynamite thrown into Jonathan's residence which blew off the roof of a small cottage building inside the residence.

According to sources, two soldiers stationed behind the house confronted the armed men and engaged them in heavy shootout.

It was gathered that the gunmen, escaped after sighting the Armoured Personnel Carrier which was moving to reinenforce the soldiers.

The US federal authorities have seized an aircraft belonging to a Nigerian facing multi-million dollar fraud charges in the country.



According to WSB-TV, the seizure was made on Tuesday at the Peachtree DeKalb Airport in Georgia.



Federal agents were said to have ransacked the aircraft for evidence, while another team searched for drugs and other contraband.

However, the authorities withheld the name of the Nigerian whose aircraft was seized.

“For the most part, people don’t even understand. They don’t know what’s happening in Atlanta, Georgia,” one of the special agents said.

“This is all day, every day. I mean, this is the fruits of our labor, and this is the successes of a great team effort by our state, local and federal partners coming together to hit the bad guys where it hurts, in their pocket.

“When we see a certain type of aircraft get sold, it raises our suspicions.”

Meanwhile, prior to the seizure of the aircraft , another recent fraudulent case involving a Nigerian and US authorities is that of Allen Onyema, chief executive officer of Air Peace who was indicted in November, for allegedly moving more than $20 million from Nigeria through US bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of aircraft.

Onyema was said to have started travelling frequently to Atlanta, where he opened several personal and business bank accounts. Between 2010 and 2018, over $44.9 million was allegedly transferred into his Atlanta-based accounts from foreign sources.

You weren't there mum, then I remembered you had left us. I started crying again, I was confused. Should I accept this admission? Why will they send me this a week after mum left us? There and then I got d answers to my questions "I will make you proud mum" I remembered my promise to you.
Matriculation day came my friends were very happy, parents came with items just to share in their joy. I looked around I couldn't find my mum nor my dad, with tears in my eyes I said to myself it is well with me. 100level came it wasn't easy but I pulled through with God on my side. 200L, 300L and 400L, it was tiring I almost gave up but my promise to you kept me going. Guess what mum. Guess what dad. I'm now a certified medical biochemist. I am serving my fatherland already in Abia state and I am the general parade commander. The Student of Bayelsa state college of Health Technology, Otuogidi Ogbia Town, Bayelsa state, held a day of protests over the alleged Kidnapped of Three BYCOTECH female students on Monday 2nd December 2019
It follows weeks of bloody attacks along the college Road where two police men were killed.
